I'm sure that this is a really trouty question, but how do the citizens of PXC actually know what our earth goods look like. We know we have a communication link with PXC via Scarlett but how else are they getting images of our goods? and if they do have some sort of 'big brother' watching device over us, can't we use it to watch them? I suppose this goes back to websites, we can see their websites but only the ones that are chosen to be shared with us..so how can they see us?
Apologies - I know I'm being dense, but its early!

Its those ppl at MindCandy - they're the ones managing the connection between us and PC.

Quote:
The Perplex City Academy is currently Mind Candy's main client. We are providing them with a range of services, including assisting the Academy with the design, distribution and marketing of the Perplex City puzzle cards, as well as the maintenance of the Perplex City/Internet data link.

I assume that MC are sharing the information, or at least allowed access to our Internet where they search for what they like. In regards to the cube, are we sure that the cube is definitely a solid 3D object? If it isn't, perhaps there was a way to send it to Earth through such a data link as MC are using.

[A grade spec]

Here's an idea: The Academy pushed the Cube experiments too far, and destroyed the Cube. Due to the massive religious significance of it to the people of PxC, Sente and the scholars staged the theft to cover their mistakes.
Eventually they came up with the story that it had been transported to Earth, despite that being impossible, to make sure the public never found out. Not only does this make sure the Cube never gets back PxC, but it allows them to look like they are doing something to retrieve it by communicating with us.
Mind Candy are just as clueless to the Academy's real intentions as we are.

What can I say, conspiracy is my speciality!

xequted article - interviews

Xequted interviews, Adrian Hon, Perplexcity:

Adrian: I'm the lead designer of the game… it's an alternate reality game, we've done an interesting spin with it… we've set up a company called Mind Candy… the story is that this city has lost it's treasure and a boat has taken it off somewhere. So the authorities of Perplex City have contacted Mind Candy and we're making it seem like this is a real story with an interactive treasure hunt.

....hmmm... boat?

Hey we need to put this on spec I think...a boat hmmmm How about the decommissioned one, perhaps the cube did something strange to it so it was no longer usable? So are we presuming it left via alchemy bay? Wasn't there some strange stuff found on alchemy bay plus there was an accident wasn't there? and they want to probe the bay (oo er) Sorry I'm getting over excited cause I just want the blasted cards to be released!!! Confused

Baffling, quite frankly. I mean, removal on a boat hypothesis is fine in general terms - the most logical theory is probably something like - Cube gets lifted, Catacombs are utilised as escape route, Cube reaches docks, and is there sequestered on boat, and removed from City. Fine, nice and Conan Doyle - esque. But then the Cube has to end up *here* somehow??

What's happening here? The Philadelphia Experiment? The Bermuda Triangle?

Still don't get it, I'm afraid...

Engimaster - Then why involve Earth at all? Why all these puzzles, cards, making PC websites available to us? What'd be the point?

Um yeah, when the article writer can't even get ARG right (he calls it an AIG) and is supposedly quoting Adrian then it seems a bit dodgy!

"a boat has taken it off somewhere" and "The treasure could be lost anywhere in the world." - it seems very contradictory, and I see no reason they'd want to give away any big hints like that especially seeing as it doesn't relate to anything we've heard before really!

I am a bit skeptical of the following thought, but it is possible that they are dropping out of game or meta clues about the cube's location. First, we get a mention of it being buried, now we hear boat.
