Nothing that great that isn't connected to the park. As far as I know, Sandusky is your typical small rural town...it just happens to have one of the best amusement parks in the U.S. there.

Good things about Cedar Point:
A ridiculous amount of hotels. Everywhere. No worries there.
Used to groups. Open late on the weekends.
A big area for... A QUEST! I think we need a quest for our next gathering. I'm willing to help other volunteers, including making a trip to CP at other times for intel (Hey, I'm going this Friday, actually).
There are bars and 24-hour restaurants nearby
Cleveland isn't far away, either.

Ohio seems reasonable, and Cedar Point looks cool. I also agree that those taking on the heaviest workloads in planning this should feel free to start looking at / picking dates ASAP. Then we'll plan around youu.

I wouldn't have a problem with Cedar Point, although for some reason I'm leaning more towards a different area of the country so we have a different mix of people coming. If Cedar Point is the place I certainly wouldn't mind attending, and I'd probably even wind up driving.
A day-trip to Cleveland certainly wouldn't be out of the question. I haven't been, but I know the Rock and Roll hall of fame is there, and the science museum is pretty decent (although nothing on the order of Chicago's). Not sure what else is there off the top of my head.

OK, so I haven't been there since I was like 12 but back then there were other kitchy attractions in the area like the African Safari Zoo thing .

I was just at Cedar Point on monday, though I didn't scope out the rest of the city. I have heard really good things (from many people) about the hotel that's attached to the park. It seems to have a small waterpark and extensive gameroom inside, plus it's very kid-friendly (what do you call the child of a beekeeper, anyway...larvae? flealings? drones?). Another coo thing is teh bubble bar, where you can get drinky things while you float by in the pool.
I can say that Sea World absolutely 100% SUCKS.
Didn't someone say that there are some cool breweries in northern OH?

You need to get better at buying plane tickets.

Ooooh, actually, I second this. Atlanta might be fun.
Well, I wasn't going to vote for my own city since it seems selfish, but it is a great town if you have a local to guide you. And, it would make it awful easy on me. P)

If I'm not mistaken, isn't Austin THE hub of the airtravel industry? Don't know if that saves on flight costs, though.
Atlanta's the hub of two airlines plus UPS and the self-proclaimed highest volume airport (but I think they have purposely not re-evaluated since the Olympics. Speaking of which. . .

So who wants to put together a multi million dollar stadium setup for us?
Why not pick the most recent American City to do that?

I take it back. After checking, my plane ticket was only $228.40 total (which still rates a , if you ask me).

It was a knights of the Old Republic reference. One robot would always label the sentence type before saying it.

OK fine. I am entirely willing to admit ignorance if it's in her LJ. I like reading it, but given the volume of writing there I have to chose between reading it and passing the bar. P)

Well, she isn't real, you know. Just lines of coding, that are apparently inside a humanlike robot body.

So, just checking, but is Cedar Point a definite go? I, for one would prefer something more easterly (Toronto comes to mind), but I'm willing to go the extra $, I guess, for the west coast... But flights from where I live to anywhere are expensive. (looking at ~Cdn$325 for a round-trip to Cleveland Hopkins) (Early-mid April next yr.) - that is around when it's planned for, right? or may?
Edit: I dunno why, but I thought that Cleveland was way further west than it is... not far from T.O at all...
