(Times are in EST)
Quote:

[02:16] *** AlisonYoung has joined #avelon.
[02:16] step: Hi Alison
[02:16] AlisonYoung: Hello, step.
[02:16] AlisonYoung: How are you doing?
[02:16] step: how's things?
[02:17] AlisonYoung: busy...
[02:17] step: I'm hot - but the AC is on so i'll live
[02:17] JustLurking: hello Alison
[02:17] AlisonYoung: step: hehe. I know the feeling.
[02:17] AlisonYoung: Hello, Just.
[02:17] delusional696|drunk: hi alison long time no see
[02:17] JustLurking: how are things in Derk-land?
[02:17] AlisonYoung: Hey, delusional... yeah, been busy doing this and that.
[02:17] AlisonYoung: I've been keeping Lisa busy with him.
[02:18] delusional696|drunk: well good to hear from you
[02:18] JustLurking: so THAT'S why we haven't heard from him
[02:18] JustLurking: Wink
[02:18] step: don't let him have too much fun Smile
[02:18] AlisonYoung: Just: Smile
[02:18] JustLurking: though I have to admit, I'd be creeped out if I did something like that with my sister Razz
[02:18] JustLurking: but that's just me
[02:19] AlisonYoung: Well, he doesn't know that yet.
[02:19] AlisonYoung: And it will be one of the things that we leave out when we bring him out.
[02:19] AlisonYoung: That he slept with someone that looks like his sister, that is.
[02:19] AlisonYoung: Oops.. did I say slept? hehe
[02:19] step: Smile
[02:20] AlisonYoung: You don't know that.. Smile
[02:20] delusional696|drunk: will he be ok when/if you bring him out
[02:20] AlisonYoung: Well, the alternative is...?
[02:20] delusional696|drunk: i mean he hasent used his muceles since he was 3
[02:21] AlisonYoung: He'll be better off with the "ARM" off then he will be with it on.
[02:21] AlisonYoung: Oh, well, he'll have to go through the same rehab as anyone else who has been in a coma will.
[02:21] *** Lora is now known as Salina.
[02:21] JustLurking: so, any news on the rep?
[02:21] delusional696|drunk: so he will wake up from the coma?
[02:22] AlisonYoung: Delusional: We really don't know yet.
[02:22] AlisonYoung: Just: Not yet... still awaiting word.
[02:23] JustLurking: alright then
[02:23] AlisonYoung: If the "ARM" is keeping the patients from coming out of their comas', then he could wake up once it is taken off. Or, he could remain in a coma. We really don't know.
[02:23] delusional696|drunk: i see
[02:23] step: yeah, that's what Tracy said too
[02:24] AlisonYoung: We'll know once it's off. But, no matter what the outcome, it needs to come off.
[02:24] step: i think we all agree with that
[02:24] * AlisonYoung hugs everyone.
[02:24] AlisonYoung: I feel like this is one big family.
[02:24] * Salina hugs Alison back
[02:24] AlisonYoung: Smile
[02:25] JustLurking: Smile
[02:25] step: Smile
[02:25] Salina: Smile
[02:25] AlisonYoung: Wow.. a lot of people in here for this time of the night.
[02:25] AlisonYoung: Then again.. it is day in other parts of the world.
[02:25] Salina: We were waiting for you.
[02:25] AlisonYoung: Yeah...
[02:25] AlisonYoung: Way to kiss up... Smile
[02:25] AlisonYoung: I'm kidding.
[02:25] Salina: hahaha
[02:25] step: lol
[02:26] Salina: I dont kiss up, I compliment. teehee
[02:26] AlisonYoung: Smile
[02:26] AlisonYoung: Has anyone made any type of contact with the rep. yet?
[02:26] AlisonYoung: Or tried to?
[02:27] step: kinda hard when you have noi idea who it is Smile
[02:27] Salina: We've tried contacting through the Avelontech site, but no luck yet
[02:27] delusional696|drunk: i don't know where to start
[02:27] step: i think a few have sent of some emails
[02:27] AlisonYoung: That's the same problem we're facing, step.
[02:27] step: *off
[02:27] Salina: I sent one out today.
[02:27] JustLurking: well, who was the one who was contacted about setting up an in-person meeting?
[02:27] JustLurking: was that you, step?
[02:27] AlisonYoung: step says no
[02:28] * AlisonYoung read that somewhere.
[02:28] step: i think that was spaceboy
[02:28] JustLurking: ok
[02:28] JustLurking: knew it was someone
[02:28] Salina: i think your right Step
[02:28] JustLurking: but I suppose we should follow up on that
[02:28] Salina: i agree
[02:28] delusional696|drunk: where is avelontech located?
[02:29] JustLurking: Illinois
[02:29] step: Alison, who else is in the company that we don't know about yet?
[02:29] AlisonYoung: In Bloomington, Illinois
[02:29] AlisonYoung: step... many people
[02:29] AlisonYoung: nurses, janitors, security, etc.
[02:29] step: i keep thinking it's Eric - and that he is a CIA agent Smile
[02:29] AlisonYoung: step: hehe
[02:30] step: is Emily helping out too or is she neutral?
[02:30] delusional696|drunk: rep, public relations?
[02:30] AlisonYoung: step: Emily is doing little things behind the scenes.
[02:31] AlisonYoung: Right now I have her looking for any patient information she can.
[02:31] AlisonYoung: I don't find all of these things by myself.
[02:31] step: well, it doesn't seem like it would be Harry, Richard or Lyle.... so who does that leave us with?
[02:32] AlisonYoung: Since most of the attention is focused on me, I have less and less time to look for things.
[02:32] step: what can you tell us about Stuart and Dwayne?
[02:33] AlisonYoung: They are men...
[02:33] step: Smile
[02:33] Salina: lol
[02:33] AlisonYoung: Salina knows what I mean by that.
[02:33] Salina: yup!!
[02:33] JustLurking: what's wrong with men? Razz
[02:33] AlisonYoung: Oh, nothing.
[02:33] Salina: hahaha
[02:33] AlisonYoung: Smile
[02:34] * JustLurking mumbles under his breath
[02:34] * Salina pats JL on the back
[02:34] Salina: there, there.
[02:34] AlisonYoung: You beat me too it.
[02:34] Salina: Very Happy
[02:35] AlisonYoung: I was going the "comfort" route though. Took me longer to type out. Smile
[02:35] Salina: The pat was supposed to be comforting.
[02:35] AlisonYoung: I know.. and it was.
[02:35] Salina: Ok
[02:35] Salina: I feel better.
[02:36] JustLurking: it wasn't
[02:36] AlisonYoung: Looked good from my side.
[02:36] JustLurking: Wink
[02:36] * Salina hugs JL
[02:36] Salina: better?
[02:36] JustLurking: hehehe
[02:36] JustLurking: it's ok
[02:37] Salina: Alison: I emailed Richard about info on ARM, but he was verrryyyy vague.
[02:37] AlisonYoung: vague? how so?
[02:37] Salina: Said even if I asked a question he probably wouldn't give me an answer.
[02:38] AlisonYoung: Ohhhh... vague.
[02:38] Salina: maybe not vague.... more like blunt
[02:38] AlisonYoung: yeah. Well, he doesn't like giving out secrets.
[02:38] AlisonYoung: He thinks someone might steal his program.
[02:38] Salina: I know. But Avelontech site said you could request info.
[02:39] Salina: lol
[02:39] AlisonYoung: Key word being "request".
[02:39] step: general PR stuff not details Smile
[02:39] Salina: that sucks
[02:39] AlisonYoung: right.
[02:39] AlisonYoung: I agree.
[02:40] Salina: If the rep contacts you again, see if he/she would be willing to chat.
[02:40] AlisonYoung: They really don't tell you anything at all. Unless you shock them with your knowledge.
[02:40] step: so, am i correct to assume that it must be someone from inside the company?
[02:40] AlisonYoung: And with Richard... well, good luck.
[02:40] AlisonYoung: Salina: I will.
[02:40] AlisonYoung: step: That's my thinking.
[02:41] Salina: i agree with you step.
[02:41] step: just checking...thought it might be FDA agents or something
[02:42] Salina: So Alison, how bad should we "shock" them with our knowledge. lol
[02:42] AlisonYoung: As far as I'm concerned... as bad as you can.
[02:42] Salina: YES!!!
[02:42] Salina: Boy, they are going to hate us!!!
[02:42] step: Smile
[02:42] AlisonYoung: hehe
[02:42] Salina: Shake them up alot!!!!
[02:43] AlisonYoung: So.. thoughts anyone?
[02:44] AlisonYoung: On who the rep could be?
[02:44] delusional696|drunk: i'm lost
[02:44] step: well, i guess the next logical step would be to contact Eric... seeing as how he knows everyone in the company
[02:44] AlisonYoung: step: good idea.
[02:44] AlisonYoung: And he's also "low key".
[02:45] AlisonYoung: People will probably trust him more with information then anyone else.
[02:45] Salina: Eric it is then.
[02:45] AlisonYoung: Smile
[02:45] step: I think Kj was emailing him
[02:45] step: i'll hafta check
[02:46] AlisonYoung: Well, before you flood his e-mail box with the same questions, you should probably wait until he answers someone.
[02:46] JustLurking: nod
[02:46] step: right
[02:46] AlisonYoung: Or e-mail him with different questions.
[02:46] AlisonYoung: Pick who will ask what.
[02:46] Salina: ok
[02:47] AlisonYoung: That way you can get the most information in the shortest amount of time.
[02:47] AlisonYoung: Wow... I'm thinking tonight... this is odd.
[02:47] step: Smile
[02:47] Salina: Smile
[02:48] Salina: Alison, we'll try to get as much info as we can....quickly.
[02:48] AlisonYoung: Sounds like a good plan. Smile
[02:48] AlisonYoung: Well, since we don't have a plan... nm
[02:48] step: it'll hafta wait til morning though Smile
[02:48] Salina: it is morning for me....2 am....
[02:49] AlisonYoung: Well, he's probably passed out by now. But you can try.
[02:49] step: oO( it's morning in the UK )
[02:50] Salina: Any other questions, guys?
[02:50] Salina: Im shot
[02:50] AlisonYoung: Not that I can think of?
[02:50] AlisonYoung: Smile
[02:50] Salina: lol
[02:50] step: i'm half asleep, it's almost 3am here Smile
[02:50] AlisonYoung: 2am here.
[02:50] Salina: Sorry we're not more helpful at this point.
[02:51] Salina: We'll get better. lol
[02:51] AlisonYoung: I understand. I'm not being much better.
[02:51] Salina: Not your fault, too many people watching you. Its understandable.
[02:51] AlisonYoung: Okay... let's see if we can narrow down the list atleast.
[02:52] AlisonYoung: What do we know about the break-in?
[02:52] step: they must have had Richards' password
[02:52] AlisonYoung: It was Harrys' office.. no password.
[02:52] step: my mistake - i'm tired
[02:52] AlisonYoung: No problem.
[02:53] delusional696|drunk: do you need a password to get in the bulding?
[02:53] AlisonYoung: No... just an ID.
[02:53] AlisonYoung: It has a barcode at the bottom that is scanned when you enter.
[02:53] AlisonYoung: And when you leave.
[02:54] step: but they took the security tapes too so that's no help
[02:54] delusional696|drunk: so is there a list of who was there at that time?
[02:54] AlisonYoung: step: Well, it may be.
[02:54] Salina: maybe a sign in sheet?
[02:54] step: hmm....
[02:55] AlisonYoung: There is a security lock on the door to the security room.
[02:55] delusional696|drunk: if they scan there id there should be some kind of login recored right?
[02:55] AlisonYoung: Which houses the survailence tapes.
[02:55] *** SixSidedSquare has joined #avelon.
[02:55] step: ok, so who has the code?
[02:55] AlisonYoung: Anyone in security.
[02:55] step: Smile
[02:55] * AlisonYoung hugs step
[02:56] dashcat: Mr. Boucher?
[02:56] * AlisonYoung bangs her head for not thinking about this earlier.
[02:56] Salina: ?
[02:56] AlisonYoung: dash: no... they are an outside company but work for AvelonTech.
[02:57] AlisonYoung: It has to be someone in security.
[02:57] AlisonYoung: But who?
[02:57] step: do you know the name?
[02:57] AlisonYoung: ARGH
[02:57] dashcat: Ah. I was thinking of Kjartan
[02:57] AlisonYoung: and no, that's not the name.
[02:57] AlisonYoung: My brain is starting to cave in...
[02:57] AlisonYoung: Why can't I think of that guys name?
[02:57] AlisonYoung: Oh, I can see his face...
[02:58] AlisonYoung: Jay?
[02:58] AlisonYoung: Jake?
[02:58] AlisonYoung: Damn... what is it?
[02:58] Salina: John?
[02:58] JustLurking: James?
[02:59] Salina: Jason?
[02:59] JustLurking: Jack
[02:59] Salina: Justin?
[02:59] delusional696|drunk: jesus?
[02:59] JustLurking: no, it's not me Razz
[02:59] step: lol\
[02:59] AlisonYoung: hehe
[02:59] JustLurking: (to the Justin comment)
[02:59] Salina: hahah
[02:59] Salina: a
[02:59] AlisonYoung: It's "JA" something.
[02:59] AlisonYoung: Argh!
[02:59] Salina: Jamison?
[03:00] Salina: Jared?
[03:00] AlisonYoung: Jarod!
[03:00] JustLurking: jamie
[03:00] AlisonYoung: That's it.
[03:00] AlisonYoung: Jarod Ables.
[03:00] Salina: wooo hoooo
[03:00] *** dashcat has left #avelon.
[03:00] AlisonYoung: Man, that was going to kill me for the rest of the night.
[03:00] * Salina pats Alison on the head
[03:00] AlisonYoung: He is... well was... head of security.
[03:01] delusional696|drunk: where is he now?
[03:01] step: where does he work now?
[03:01] AlisonYoung: We don't know where he is.
[03:01] JustLurking: why was?
[03:01] AlisonYoung: He didn't show up for work yesterday.
[03:01] Salina: hmmmmm
[03:01] AlisonYoung: We haven't seen him since.
[03:01] step: oh wow, this just happened
[03:01] AlisonYoung: step: yeah.
[03:01] delusional696|drunk: foul play?
[03:02] AlisonYoung: delusion: don't know...
[03:02] AlisonYoung: I'm sure Harry has someone looking for him though.
[03:02] step: too coincidental
[03:02] Salina: probably
[03:03] delusional696|drunk: so are we thinking he took the ARM?
[03:03] step: so the security was handled by an outside company?
[03:03] AlisonYoung: delusion: It's the most logical answer right now.
[03:04] AlisonYoung: step: Yes and no.
[03:04] step: what company? maybe we can track him down somehow
[03:04] AlisonYoung: It was an outside company, but worked strickly for AvelonTech.
[03:04] AlisonYoung: strictly.
[03:04] * step nods
[03:05] AlisonYoung: Well, I'm gonna go. I'll see what else I can find out about Jarod.
[03:06] JustLurking: let us know what you find
[03:06] AlisonYoung: I'll talk to you guys later.
[03:06] AlisonYoung: Don't worry, you know I will.
[03:06] delusional696|drunk: ok, bye alison
[03:06] Salina: Ok Alison. We'll keep looking
[03:06] step: goodnight
[03:06] AlisonYoung: goodnight.
[03:06] Salina: Talk to you soon
[03:06] *** AlisonYoung has signed off IRC (Quit: ).

Looks like we need to contact Eric and ask about the security personnel - BUT we should coordinate what we want to ask and who should send the email(s) (see Alison's comments above at time 2:44)

I had sent an email previously(see before the previous post). Here is the respone I got:

Quote:
Normally, this is how it works regarding representatives. We have this really big board that is split into 3 columns. The first column is the contacts' name, the second column is either the phone number (if the rep is to call that person) or the address (if the rep is supposed to meet that person) and the third column is the time frame of the meeting (including day(s) of the week).

Every morning the busy little reps go over to the board and pick which one does what. So, to answer your question, I would have no idea what representative would meet with you.

However, a little birdie told me that you are involved in this little task that Alison is planning. So, I'll let you in on what I've heard (and it's amazing what you hear when people think you aren't paying any attention to them).

The person that you are looking for isn't a representative at all. But, he does work for AvelonTech. Why he has chosen to help Alison is beyond me. Lord knows I don't get involved with this sort of thing. I'm just being the messenger here.

His name is Jarod Ables. His "official" title was "Head of Security" (I say "was" because he's no longer working for AvelonTech as of yesterday. Gone missing he has). He knows every nook and cranny of this place from the bottom of the basement to the top of the little stone pebbles that line the top of this building.

I don't have any contact information for you, but I'm sure he will find a way to get in touch with you guys.

I'll pass along any messages he may leave with me. Okay? Okay.

Contact Trifecta

Allright, since I left the chatrooms last night, I've had three points of contact. I'll start with an E-mail from Derk in response to a general request for info.

Subject : RE: Your Date

Hey, man;

Yeah, things are going pretty freakin' good. Sorry I haven't been around as much as I'd like to. I've been... ummm... busy. Yeah. Anyway, ummm.. so how are things going with you? I hope things are going really well. I'd hate for things to be going well for me and for the love not to spread to others. (Wait, I sound like a hippie. Cool, man.)

Well, I'll try to take a break from work and "work" to drop in and talk to everyone for a little bit. Despite the things that are going on in my life (that would be Lisa) I'm still amazed at the fact that I miss you guys. You've been so helpful and supportive that it would just be completely wrong of me to just get up and walk away like nothing ever happened.

My dreams have stopped! Go figure. Maybe it was the lack of a woman that was making me dream about a woman in the first place? But then how do I explain everything else? The note on my table? The window pop-up? The strange messages left on my blog? Well, I don't know. And that's the good thing about having Lisa around. She makes me forget about all of those things. Even if just for the time that I am with her.. which has become increasingly more and more. Hey! You think she likes me? Hahaha!

Anyway, dude. It's great hearing from all of you. Even if I can't make it to the IRC room, please tell everyone to e-mail me. I miss hearing from them.

Gotta run. Me and Lisa must get ready for work. Take Care!

Heya Derk,

I just thought that I'd drop you a quick E-mail since I haven't heard from you since the middle of your date. How'd everything go? Is all okay?

Well, I've gotta run. I'll talk/type to you later.

--Kjartan

Second contact: When I turned on my `puter this morning, lo- and behold, Derk is sitting in irc all alone talking to himself. We had a brief conversation, although not too much of interest came from it.

<Kjartan> oh okay, just waking up
<DerkTollin> I've been getting e-mails to get my butt in here... so here I am.
<Kjartan> hehe... how was your date
<DerkTollin> Still sleeping.
* Kjartan thinks everyone is too lazy to be up in the morning
<DerkTollin> But the alarm will wake her up.
<DerkTollin> But we're not.
<Kjartan> we're part of the super breakfast morning club
<DerkTollin> hehe..
* Kjartan s sense of humor is dumb in the AM
<DerkTollin> Yeah, well, don't expect much on this end either.
<DerkTollin> I haven't had my coffee yet.
<Kjartan> hehe
* Kjartan grabs a cup of coffee
* Kjartan hands a cup to Derk
<DerkTollin> Oh, well, thanks, man.
<Kjartan> mine is brewing up as we type

<DerkTollin> Yeah, you could say that.

<DerkTollin> But I think I could get used to this one.
<Kjartan> sweet.... what have you guys been doing... just staying in?
<DerkTollin> Oh... my waking up early is catching up with me.
<DerkTollin> Pretty much. A lot of talking.
<DerkTollin> I forgot how much women like to talk.

<Kjartan> are you keeping things secret around the office
<DerkTollin> Yeah. I don't know how everyone will take it yet.
<DerkTollin> I think after about a month or two we'll say something.
<Kjartan> yeah, I've always avoided office romances
<Kjartan> (or they've avoided me)
<DerkTollin> I tried to. But I couldn't get away from this one.
<DerkTollin> And my dreams have come to an abrupt hault.
<Kjartan> So, you haven't told her about your dreams or the odd stuff yet?
<DerkTollin> Oh yeah... we talk about all of that stuff all the time.
<Kjartan> derk's a one woman per night man
<Kjartan> does she have any opinions?
<DerkTollin> She's really cool about listening to my rambling.
<DerkTollin> She doesn't state any opinions about it if she has them.
<DerkTollin> She just sits there are listens to me.
<Kjartan> a woman that listens?
<Kjartan> I think you've got a keeper
<DerkTollin> Yeah. Go figure.
<Kjartan> you should bring her in here one evening
<DerkTollin> Oh, don't get me wrong.. she gets her words in.
<Kjartan> unless that's too nerdy
<DerkTollin> I've told her about you guys and how you've all helped me get through everything.
<DerkTollin> And how cool it is.
<DerkTollin> She knows that I miss coming in here.
<DerkTollin> It's just hard to determine where all of my time is supposed to go right now.
<Kjartan> well... we're not mutually exclusive. You can bring her in here if you'd like
<DerkTollin> But I do owe you guys a lot of my time.
<DerkTollin> Well, it'll be another hour before the second alarm goes off.
<DerkTollin> I don't know if I want to risk waking her.
<Kjartan> cranky when she wakes
<DerkTollin> I'm used to seeing her get all of her sleep.
* Kjartan had an ex that went nuts if you woke her
<DerkTollin> Probably. I don't know many people who like being woken up early.
<DerkTollin> hehe
<Kjartan> oh shoot... I've got to run. I need to be at work in a few and I haven't done my ironing.
<DerkTollin> I can try to bring her in some afternoon.
<DerkTollin> okay... c-ya
<Kjartan> well, I'm sure we'd all love to meet her. I know I would
<DerkTollin> enjoy your day.
<Kjartan> you too
<Kjartan> tell lisa I said hi
<DerkTollin> Will do.
* Kjartan is now known as Kjartan|work
<Kjartan|work> good to hear things have been normal lately too
<DerkTollin> Smile
<DerkTollin> Go to work, dude.
<DerkTollin> Smile
* Kjartan|work is off like a speeding bullet
* DerkTollin has quit IRC (Quit: )

And Finally, I sent off an E-mail to Harry last night with all kinds of questions in it, and I believe he answered most if not all. My message out first, his in second.

Quote:

Dear Mr. Avelon,

Thanks for your kind E-mail. I truly understand having to wade through piles of unsoliceted comments and offers from people who don't have any concept of a busy schedule, so I will do my best to conserve the time that both of us are obviously short on. I would have thought that Eric Trott would do a better job filtering your E-mail. He seems to be a fine young man, if a little unmotivated.

The method that I usually use when organizing new opportunities is to ask a representative of two organizations, the customer organization and the supplying organization, a number of questions to be sure that both sides are interested in arranging a deal. As my clients are generally quite sensitive to both their identities, plans, and ideas, I do not reveal any information about either organization.

As your product is currently in a very restricted release, I've had difficulty determining some of the basic details that my client is interested in. If you're too busy to deal with these and other basic questions, I don't mind speaking with an authorized representative of your organization; although, of course, I would prefer speaking with you directly once these questions have been answered when determining your level of interest. Needless to say, if there is any information that you would prefer to keep confidential, that is an acceptable answer at this phase in our discussion, but I will try to word my questions so that I am not asking for any information that is proprietary.

At a basic level, I understand that your system allows people in extended comas to live a normal virtual life in a virtual environment that is identical to the real world in almost all respects. Does your system alow for much customization of virtual worlds? Is this customization very time consuming? How much do you currently charge for the maintenance of a person in your facilities? Can you give me an estimate of the costs per month for supporting a patient?

I also understand that your product has the ability to add memories to patients. Is there a technical limit to the amount of information that can be put into a patient's memory? When placing memories into a patient, how thorough are these memories? Do they allow for a set of skills to be learned? Is this a time consuming process?

If you or your representative could answer these questions for me as fully as possible, along with any other information that you would like to share with me about your amazing technology, I will return to you with further details on my client's requirements and plans. I truly believe that your product could be very valuable to my client, and that they would be willing to pay a very high price for access to your technology.

Your ARM technology is one of the most amazing things that I have heard of in the last decade, and I believe that there may be far reaching applications will give your organization the opportunity to help thousands of people.

Thank you for this opportunity. I look forward to hearing more from you.

Sincerely,

Keith E.Bergstrom
Independent Market Expansion Specialist

Quote:

Mr. Bergstrom;

Well, is was nice to hear back from you so quickly. And I must say that your questions are quite probing. But they are nothing that I am not willing to answer at this time. So, let me go over them one at a time:

Q: Does your system allow for much customization of virtual worlds?

A: Once a patient arrives here at AvelonTech a history of that person is gathered from as many sources as we can possibly find. These would include parents, other relatives, friends of the family, friends of the patient, former employers, former co-workers, former lovers, etc. After the history is complete, we go over it and, before entering the information into the program, extract anything that may be upsetting to the patient. For instance, a horrible break-up can be changed to more of a "parting of ways". You must remember, our goal here is to make our patients as happy as possible.

The virtual world that our patients live in is no different then yours or mine. If there is a movie playing at a near by theater in the real world and our patient "lives" in the same town in his or her virtual world, we load that information into the system which allows the patient to also enjoy that movie. The same goes for new restaurants, plays, concerts, you name it.

So, as you can see, while the system may allow for customization for those patients for whom we have limited or no history due to any number of reasons, we try to limit the amount as much as we possibly can. The program runs mainly off of the patients' memories. If we were to place a patient in, say, New York City when they really lived in Dallas, well, you can guess how confused the patient may become.

Q: Is this customization very time consuming?

A: The only part of the process that is the most time consuming is the gathering of information about the patient. We try to locate as many people as we possible can. And if that means we have to send people around the world to do that, well, that takes time. But it is something that needs to be done.

Once the information is gathered, our programmers can take anywhere from 24 to 48 loading and/or fixing the information as they see fit. All of this, of course, is done under the watchful eye of either myself or our head programmer, Richard Dunnam.

Q: How much do you charge for maintenance of a person in your facilities?

A: Since the "ARM" is still in an "experimental" phase, until the FDA approval, all of our patients are brought here voluntarily. We charge nothing for our service at this point in time.

However, once the "ARM" has been approved, we are looking at a charge of around $5,000 per month. This covers the cost of the "ARM", the program, any "house-calls" that we may need to make, the programming fees, etc.

Q: Est. cost per month per patient?

A: "In-house" costs (if patients are taken care of here at AvelonTech) are around $3,000 per month. This includes, but is not limited to, nursing, program maintenance, electricity usage, food, water, etc.

Q: Is there a limit to the amount of information that can be put into a patients memory?

A: Quick answer? No. We do not know what type of life a patient may have lived prior to arriving at AvelonTech. Some people may be as young at 2 or 3 and have not had the time to develop a lot of memories. Others may be in their 70's or 80's and have lived a very eventful life.

Since we are not willing to leave anything out of the persons' memory, we can not set a limit on how much goes into the system.

Q: How thorough are the memories?

A: If we need to make memories then you can be assured that we try are best to make them as thorough as we possibly can. An incomplete memory is an incomplete person.

Q: Do you allow for a set of skills to be learned?

A: Yes. If we need to. But once any skill or memory is placed into the system they can not be changed without a password that only our Head Programmer has. The easiest way to explain why is to look at yourself. Your memories, your experiences, have made you who you are as a person. Change one of those memories and you change your self.

Q: Is this time consuming?

A: It all depends on the skill and the training involved with that skill. A ex-CIA operative takes a lot more time then a part-time McDonald's' employee.

Well, I hope that I my answers have met your requirements. If not, please feel free to e-mail me again with further questions.

Again, it was nice to hear from you.

Sincerely;

Harry Avelon

President/CEO of AvelonTech

Edit : Regarding my sig -- no longer waiting for domes. Smile

I sent an email to Stuart Ables to see if I could get in touch with my old friend Jarod (working to see if they were related). However he states that Jarod is not his brother. I also emailed Mr. Dunnam, in reference to Alison asking us to try to use a bit of shock tactics on the company without giving too much detail. I made a reference to him being indicted for murder due to the known fault in the ARMs. His response, and i quote, was "huh?" Short and sweet. LOL I cannot tell if he was shocked, but I would think he was, just tried not to show it. LOL Hope this leads somewhere....

I just had a thought. What if we were to send shock emails to the various individuals. Not giving away info on what we no exactly, or mentioning Derk, or Alison, or anyone else helping us. Perhaps we could try to turn them against each other by turning up the heat. Maybe one will fold and turn on the rest? Just an idea, something to discuss in the irc room perhaps?

Sorry for the double post but:

Quote:
[00:42] *** AlisonYoung has joined #Avelon
[00:44] <Kjartan> heya alison
[00:44] <Kjartan> how's it goin?
[00:44] <AlisonYoung> Hello, K. It's going good.
[00:44] <AlisonYoung> How about you?
[00:44] <Kjartan> It's going pretty well
[00:44] <Kjartan> I was getting kind of worried... we haven't seen you in a while and work seems pretty suspicious of you
[00:45] <AlisonYoung> work?
[00:45] <AlisonYoung> how do you mean?
[00:45] <Kjartan> the phone conversations you've been posting
[00:46] <Kythen> w00t!
[00:46] <Kythen> finally! Smile
[00:46] <AlisonYoung> Oh... okay, now I understand that you are talking about.
[00:46] <Kjartan> hey alison, have you met kythen?
[00:46] <AlisonYoung> No, I can't recall doing so.
[00:46] <Kythen> only via email
[00:46] <AlisonYoung> Hello, kythen.
[00:46] <AlisonYoung> I get a lot of those.
[00:46] <Kythen> nice to finally catch you around here
[00:47] <AlisonYoung> Well, it's nice to meet you.
[00:47] <Kjartan> so, what's been going on?
[00:47] <AlisonYoung> K: I think Richard telling Harry about Jarod has lifted a little of the weight off of my shoulders.
[00:47] <Kythen> maybe
[00:47] <Kythen> still keep your head down though
[00:48] <Kjartan> yeah, I think that'd take a bit... but I wouldn't go nuts with your freedom
[00:48] <AlisonYoung> Oh, don't worry. I'm still looking around.
[00:48] <Kjartan> did you hear we've had some contact with Jarod?
[00:48] <AlisonYoung> No, I haven't. What kind of contact?
[00:49] <Kjartan> One of the young ladies from here has found his E-mail... he seems a little spooked
[00:49] <Kjartan> Is there anything you think we could tell him that might calm him down as to our intentions
[00:49] <AlisonYoung> Well, if I had just stolen something from my workplace and left, I'd be spooked too.
[00:49] <AlisonYoung> Well, what's he saying?
[00:49] * Kjartan goes to look for it.
[00:50] <AlisonYoung> Maybe I can suggest a response.
[00:50] <Kythen> do you know Jarod well?
[00:50] <Kjartan> "who are you?"How did you get this email address?"
[00:50] <Kjartan> someone responded we are friends
[00:50] <AlisonYoung> Kythen: Just from seeing him around.
[00:50] <Kjartan> nothing specific yet
[00:51] <AlisonYoung> Well, I don't know what kind of personality he has. It might take a little pushing to get him going.
[00:52] <Kjartan> (or at least that our contact has shared with us)
[00:52] <Kjartan> Do you have access to his personel file?
[00:52] <AlisonYoung> Me? No.
[00:52] <Kythen> did he have any good friends at work? someone we could talk to about him perhaps?
[00:53] <AlisonYoung> I think Harry might keep copies of that sort of thing in his office though.
[00:53] <AlisonYoung> I might be able to sneak a look.
[00:53] <Kjartan> if you could do that, we might be able to use some information to push him
[00:53] <Kjartan> (ie. I know where your mom lives)
[00:54] <Kythen> well, do we really want to push him if he's on our side?
[00:54] <Kythen> a big "if" of course, but still something to keep in mind
[00:54] <step> do we know that he's on our side?
[00:54] <AlisonYoung> Not yet.
[00:54] <AlisonYoung> Maybe future contact should be to find that out.
[00:54] <Kjartan> an enemy of my enemy...
[00:54] <AlisonYoung> Find out what he wants or why he stole the "ARM" in the first place.
[00:55] <AlisonYoung> Playing "bad guy" could get him talking.
[00:55] <AlisonYoung> Or it could backfire.
[00:56] <AlisonYoung> Do you think that I should contact him?
[00:56] <Kythen> maybe
[00:56] <Kjartan> You don't know him well... it might spook him to get some contact from the company
[00:56] <AlisonYoung> True.
[00:57] <AlisonYoung> I'm just thinking that maybe a familiar name might get a better result.
[00:57] <Kjartan> true
[00:57] <step> getting contact from us would spook him more i think... as in who are these people and how do they know what's going on
[00:57] <Kythen> what about a straightforward approach?
[00:58] <Kythen> tell him we found his name while trying to help Alison?
[00:58] <AlisonYoung> I could e-mail him saying something like "There are some people who will be contacting you who are trying to help me. If you are doing the same, please respond to them."
[00:58] <Kjartan> the truth?
[00:58] <Kjartan> honesty is rarely the best policy Smile
[01:00] <AlisonYoung> brb... "I drank too much Dr. Pepper"
[01:01] <Kjartan> Do you think there's any chance he may be in a similar position?
[01:01] <Kythen> why not?
[01:01] <Kjartan> why not on the truth? I was just joking... seems like an okay policy
[01:02] <Kjartan> I sent a fairly cryptic email to him inviting him in here.
[01:02] <Kythen> it's always seemed to me to be the best way to ease someone or something that's spooked out into the open
[01:02] <Kythen> but we should still be careful
[01:02] <AlisonYoung> Okay... back.
[01:02] <Kythen> if he is doing it for industrial espionage, now is the perfect time for him to have stolen the chip
[01:03] <Kjartan> just before shit hits the fan and the FDA recommendation comes down
[01:03] <Kythen> attention from the higher ups has been directed mostly at alison and the FDA
[01:03] <Kythen> so nab it now while nobody's paying attention, you know?
[01:03] <AlisonYoung> True.
[01:04] <Kjartan> Alison, do you think he might have a loved one at AT... that's kinda what Mr. Dunham thinks
[01:04] <AlisonYoung> Well, you could always ask him.
[01:04] <AlisonYoung> K: It's possible.. or did.
[01:04] <Kythen> even if he doesn't, the truth still might work
[01:04] <Kythen> if he is in it for the money or something, he could just tell us to sod off
[01:05] <Kjartan> it would be odd if you had two Ables on staff as well as a patient
[01:05] <AlisonYoung> You could tell him that you are handling the recovery effort.
[01:05] <AlisonYoung> He might come back at you with an offer.
[01:06] <Kjartan> then all we'd have to do is raise 26 million!
[01:06] <Kjartan> Wink
[01:06] <Kythen> is there something else we could bargain with?
[01:06] <AlisonYoung> "We are willing to pay you double that of any offer you currently have on the table"
[01:06] <Kythen> some tidbit of useful info?
[01:07] <AlisonYoung> Well, since we really don't know what his motivation is here, I don't know if blackmaling him is such a good idea.
[01:07] <AlisonYoung> There might be a way to get him to talk without going to that extent.
[01:08] * AlisonYoung is sleepy.
[01:08] <Kjartan> me too alison
[01:08] * Jot|SchoolPaper still isn't done with his paper...
[01:08] <Kythen> hope you don't have to pull an all-nighter there
[01:08] <AlisonYoung> How about just e-mailing him a whole bunch of questions? I don't know any other way to get answers at this point.
[01:08] * Kjartan hands jot and alison a mountain dew
[01:09] * AlisonYoung perks up.
[01:09] * AlisonYoung starts running around the room.
[01:09] <Kjartan> I was hoping he'd show up here... I sent him an E-mail inviting him to chat
[01:09] <Kythen> heh, i was actually wondering why you were drinking Dr. Pepper before
[01:09] <Kythen> i thought all of us programmers lived on Dew Smile
[01:09] <AlisonYoung> It's a line from a movie.
[01:09] <Kythen> ahh
[01:09] * Jot|SchoolPaper writes papers off of Dew power
[01:09] <AlisonYoung> "Forest Gump"
[01:10] <AlisonYoung> With Tom Hanks... oooooo... Tom Hanks...
[01:10] * AlisonYoung starts drooling.
[01:10] <Kjartan> Mt. Dew Creole, Mt. Dew Gumbo....
[01:10] <Kythen> should have remembered that... seen the movie a couple of times
[01:10] <AlisonYoung> Well, it's late... can't remember everything.
[01:11] <AlisonYoung> That's my excuse anyway.
[01:11] <Kythen> works for me
[01:11] <AlisonYoung> ^5
[01:11] <Kjartan> its unanimous then
[01:11] <AlisonYoung> hehe
[01:11] <Kythen> speaking of programming...
[01:12] <AlisonYoung> okay...
[01:12] <Kythen> i'm kinda curious how you got your job alison
[01:12] <Kythen> doesn't sound like your everyday programming
[01:12] <AlisonYoung> I found out about AvelonTech through a friend of mine.
[01:12] <AlisonYoung> She was working there at the time and got me an interview.
[01:13] <AlisonYoung> The job is actually pretty easy.
[01:13] <Kjartan> were you working there before Derk was admitted then?
[01:13] <AlisonYoung> K: yes.
[01:13] <step> oO( 5 years)
[01:13] <Kjartan> So, you used your influence to get him admitted then
[01:14] <Kjartan> (am I rehashing old ground)
[01:14] <Kjartan> ?
[01:14] <AlisonYoung> They had an open spot, and I had always wanted to bring him here. To help him.
[01:14] <AlisonYoung> Actually, they had a few open spots.
[01:14] <AlisonYoung> I didn't think anything of it at the time.
[01:14] <AlisonYoung> Now I regret it.
[01:14] <Kjartan> was this from the first round of people who died?
[01:15] <step> couldn't have been
[01:15] <AlisonYoung> Some people passed on.. but they were health related.
[01:15] <step> ah, i was unaware of that
[01:16] <AlisonYoung> When I got here, AvelonTech was pretty much just getting started.
[01:16] <Kythen> are many of the other patients older or in poor health?
[01:16] <Kjartan> You've worked there for five years?
[01:17] <AlisonYoung> older? Older then Derk?
[01:17] <AlisonYoung> K: yes.
[01:17] <Kjartan> AT's website says that it was started in 1992
[01:17] <AlisonYoung> That's when Harry started developing the "ARM".
[01:17] <Kythen> i was wondering if they would be in a condition that could disguise the ARM problem(s)
[01:17] <Kjartan> keeps reading
[01:17] <Kjartan> ahh
[01:17] <Kjartan> i see
[01:18] <Kythen> which could either A. explain why it wasn't found earlier or B. help in the cover up
[01:18] <AlisonYoung> Kythen: that's my thought.
[01:18] <AlisonYoung> I've mentioned in here before that Harry could always use that as an excuse.
[01:19] <AlisonYoung> But when you start seeing people dieing within a certain timeframe... well, you get curious.
[01:20] <Kjartan> allright guys, I've gotta get some sleep here tonight...
[01:20] <AlisonYoung> cya, K.
[01:21] <Kythen> g'night!
[01:21] <step> goodnight
[01:21] <AlisonYoung> Have a good night.
[01:21] <Kjartan> you guys all sleep well
[01:21] <Kjartan> peace out
[01:21] <AlisonYoung> Us women will, too.
[01:21] <step> Smile
[01:21] <Kythen> Smile
[01:21] <Jot|SchoolPaper> Yeah...sexist...
[01:21] <Jot|SchoolPaper> G'night Kjar
[01:22] <Kjartan> Razz
[01:22] <Jot|SchoolPaper> Smile
[01:22] <Kjartan> gluck with the paper jot
[01:22] <Jot|SchoolPaper> Thanks
[01:22] <AlisonYoung> What's it on?
[01:22] *** Kjartan is now known as Kjar|snoring_in_the_corner
[01:22] * Kythen hands Kjartan one of those anti-snore nose things
[01:24] <AlisonYoung> Sooooo....
[01:24] <AlisonYoung> Well, I better run too guys.
[01:24] <Jot|SchoolPaper> It is a short story for school, Alison
[01:24] <AlisonYoung> oh.. okay.
[01:25] * AlisonYoung hated english.
[01:25] <Kythen> me too
[01:25] <Jot|SchoolPaper> Magic/suspense/romance/action. All the fun parts
[01:25] <Kythen> always ruined books :\
[01:25] <AlisonYoung> Ooooo...
[01:25] <Jot|SchoolPaper> "They always ruin good movies with books." Right?
[01:26] <AlisonYoung> I thought it was the other way around.
[01:26] <Jot|SchoolPaper> I'll send it to you if you like the sound of it.
[01:26] <Jot|SchoolPaper> Alison: It is a joke Razz
[01:26] <AlisonYoung> Yeah, I'd love to read it.
[01:26] <AlisonYoung> a joke.. oh.
[01:26] <AlisonYoung> Well, I'll talk to you guys and girls later.
[01:26] <Jot|SchoolPaper> Alright. I have your email and I will send it to you when it is completed
[01:26] <Jot|SchoolPaper> G'night Alison
[01:26] <AlisonYoung> Okay.. sounds good.
[01:26] <step> goodnight Alison.
[01:26] <Kythen> sleep well alison
[01:26] <AlisonYoung> goodnight everyone.
[01:27] *** AlisonYoung has quit (Quit: )

Here's the newest email I sent to Jarod Ables:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Jarod:

I wanted to reassure you that we are only trying to help. We are working with Alison to try and figure out why ARM is so important to Avelon Tech.

Why did you steal the ARM?
What are you wanting to do with it?
Why did you contact Alison?
Did you lose someone who was a patient at AvelonTech?

Do YOU have many allies?

I know this is a little direct, but time is running out for some of the people involved. We want to save lives here, hopefully this is what you want also.

Please, do what's morally right.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Salina

I will post the reply as soon as it comes in.

So then, do we think that Alison has found out that the machine has less time than she originally thought? Has she been on since that post? I have tried a couple of .htm's linked with "The end" but nothing so far.

Also Derk has written "The end is closer than you think" as a comment on his blog.

Jarod Chat

Allright - I don't have enough time to review everything before posting this, but I told Jared that he should meet us in the chatroom. I was a bit cryptic and told him he was in danger. He responded:

New email from Alison

I got another email from Alison this morning. Nothing new content-wise, but the subject might help us.

Ok Max discovered that:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
G.A.S. stood for "Google Advanced Search"

Doing this with the phrase "The end is closer than you think" brings up a set of lyrics to a song called "9 to 5 at the Morgue" by Dog Fashion Disco.

Then Wisdomwarrior found it was "THEMORGUE", which takes us to
