Hmmm it refers to Rookery Tower...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Dyhorq is Rot -23 fro Avelon where he lives

And if you use Avelon as the key in a vigenere you get "You are not alone I am here with you always Alison"

AND Seen James:

1) I have noticed that there a lot of people who have some. Some people are looking for someone they have lost (I think James was his name), others are being haunted by ghosts in a house that they just acquired from their recently deceased uncle. Poor girl. You'd think that would have been in the will the uncle left for her. Ah well. Anyway, I have decided to start my own in order to...

Hmm, okay, so you've got my attention. I've also fired off an email -- lets see where this goes.

Topic Change

I am going to be changing the topic to [ARG]Avelon (I thought that was an appropriate name to call it for now) in a day or so. I thought I'd post this so that people don't get lost.

Yes it was decipered.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the title of the note: Dyhorq, is rot23 for AVELON. A good rot program can be found here:

http://www.unfiction.com/resource/rot-it/

The rest of the note was in vigenere and the deciphered Avelon is the keyword you need to decode it. I used this program:

http://sharkysoft.com/misc/vigenere/

I just copy/pasted the text into the decoder and added Avelon as the keyword and got....

You are not alone I am here with you always Alison

Hope that helps people who aren't familiar with all the really nifty decoders that are out there to find. And if you need more help figuring out codes but are afraid to ask on the forum for fear of trout please send me a PM and I'll try to walk you through it. I am quite often mystified myself as to how people solve puzzles.

I got a reply:

Quote:
First, let me thank all of you who have written to me about the weird message that was found in my apartment. I really wasn't prepared for this many people to e-mail me. Heck, I didn't even think anyone was even going to see the darn thing. But, you did, and for that I am thankful.

Second, I am really sorry about the timing of this e-mail. I realize that it is late, but I have been having some problems at "UNI". And when you run your own business you don't leave until it's fixed. It looks like it'll be that way for awhile. So, please bear with me as I try to work things out.

Third, as I mentioned earlier, I really wasn't prepared for this type of response so quickly. I will send individual e-mails to people when I have the time to do so. If I happen to find myself in a position where I can not respond to all of you individually, then I will do a mass e-mail. This way information gets to everyone as soon as it possibly can.

Finally, about the note. A lot of you have written concerning the weird message that was left on my table for me when I got home the other day. Let me say thank you for taking the time to go through that like you did. You are much smarter then I.

Some of you even asked me if I might know who this "Alison" person is. And I am afraid to say that I do not. I will be going to see my parents in a couple of days and I will be sure to ask them about her. But, at this point in time, I really can't tell you more about her.

Again, thank you for your patients with me and for taking the time to help me. It is greatly appreciated. I will try to respond to everyone who writes. It might take a minute, but I will eventually get to you.

Until then…

-Derk Tollin

and a new Blog update. Plus thanks to Doug they also have an AIM address "DerkTollin"
