I noticed this as well today, I think we need to make a record of what letters keep disappearing, that seem's to be 3 now, will keep checking their away message for more changes, but this game has to start up soon, I am surprised they have kept us waiting so long!

I was thinking that as well, but it seem's a slight too obvious?

Well, maybe not.

Anyway, they have changed a letter a day so far, so if you are right, then it looks like Sunday will be the day the game starts.

It is possible that they saw our annoyance at having to wait and put that little 'puzzle' in place to keep us speculating and to to let us know the game isn't dead.

I heard about this game over at The World of Logan's Run website's BBS:

http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Dimension/5357

I've never played an ARG before. What do I need to play? Will it all be email based, internet based, or will I need to supply other information to get in the game? Thanks,

You may want to cast your eyes to the top of the page where it says welcome for some handy hints. Or just peruse some old games to get an idea of what is involved. Wink

Edit...nm the message is there now.

I put my money that the next letter to be left out will be a T, so it spells Do Not.

But that's just my two cents at guessing.

For what it's worth the only word starting with dono is donor...........yeh the smart money is definitely on t, which means we are probably going to be waiting a while to find out the full message.

Hi, by the way. This is my first ARG, so if I do somthing stupid or break an unwritten rule, hit me in the head. It's the only way I'll learn.

Hello, and welcome! Glad you found us. Very Happy

We won't hit you in the head, but if you say something that's already been discussed, we may offer you a nice, fresh trout.

It looks like this: Trout

Dan Fabulich wrote:
When I say "trout" to you, I don't simply mean the fish, I mean to say to you: "Listen. I respect you. It's great that you're
here and posting and that we're working together for a common goal.
Nonetheless, I have some polite criticisms."

You may use the word trout as its own sentence, as in:

"Trout. This is in the Trail, section 2.05."

Or, you may use it to refer to your polite constructive criticism:

"Pardon my trout, but we've been talking about this most of the
day... Read about it on CM-mod."

You may use it as a verb:

"I trout you. I think you've gotten confused about this."

Alternatively, you may use it as a pseudo- HTML tag:

"<trout>You must mean Jason Fertors-with-an-s, who IS in
PACO.</trout>"

You may use it as a post label, but try to use it in combo with other
labels:

"Subject: SPEC/TROUT Re: Evan is still alive!"

Finally, of course, you may decide not to use it at all. If so,
please use some form of polite disclaimer whenever you offer
constructive criticism, ESPECIALLY if that criticism is a correction
of some factual mistake. It's very hard to communicate a polite
attitude over e-mail. "Trout" will be one way to do it.

Sometimes newbies (and even non-newbies who should know better Wink ) think that trouting someone is some sort of act of aggression. It's not.

jamesi wrote:
Trout is not a bad thing, folks. Trout is how tell each other about mistakes without it turning ugly and nasty. Trout is how we eliminate duplication and streamline productivity and efficiency. Trout is a funny word to start with, and thus, should be used in the most light-hearted of ways.

So, if you get trouted, please don't be hurt. We still like you. Smile

However, in the interests of streamlining the discussion, you would be well-advised to use the handy Search feature before posting your speculation or ideas. It's in the upper-right-hand corner of your screen, at the bottom of the second column of links. People may have already discussed what you're thinking about, and if so, you can find out where their discussion left off and add to it rather than just repeating it.

When an ARG gets popular, and the posts are flying fast and furious, it's in everyone's best interest to try to keep redundant discussions to a minimum so the number of posts doesn't get overwhelming.

Again, welcome to the community and best wishes for a wonderful first ARG experience! Very Happy

You know, I'm suprised that no one actually attempted to get trouted alot yet. I mean, think of it. It's free fish. And trout can be sold for not a bad price. So if you get trouted enough, possibly you can make a killing by opening up a fish market. Because free fish = 100% profit. And who wants to turn down 100% profit?

Lol!!!!!! We could all be fishmonger's!! Here! Trout have some trout! I'm giving it away free for today only!! Laughing

I wish this ARG would start soon. I already did my homework with Logan's Run by watching it again. And Carousel still freaks me out. I don't know exactly why anyone would be willing to do that. Or heck, why people even watch it.

I wish it would start too, I have even been dreaming about it!!

Considering I have been discussing my love of Logan's Run and trying to collect more on it these last few months, it's really ironic that this ARG has been created, and well, I just had to be in on it! Laughing

The only other ARG I have played so far is SubCityCentral, this was based on another fave of mine which is similar to Logan's Run, THX 1138, and was running last summer via virtuquest. That was great fun, I am hoping that I will have just as much fun playing this one.

I've passed on the info about this ARG and link to this forum to a Logan's Run Mailing List I am on and my own Sci Fi Mailing List, hoping to create more players.

The reason why people go to Carousel is cause they really believe that they can get re-newed if they do, they're conditioned from Birth, but some citizens break their programming and realise it's all a farce, so go on the run.

There is no Sanctuary!!

Okay, so inevitable pre-game question: What do we call ourselves? Runners seems the logical suggestion.
