[el-centro] Scoop: New Game coming soon

http://el-centro.incunabula.org/

Maybe more interactive novel-ish, but it could be interesting.

Not live yet. There will be a registration button when it is.

From their FAQ:
Quote:
Will the characters we read about and interact with or things we'll be recovering all be "real"?
Define real. No, really. Stop using quotation marks around real too. You're not one of those Matrix geeks are you?

Hehe. Heh. HEH. Shocked I have (honestly) been unable to write "real" or any variation thereof without quotation marks since about a week after Reloaded came out.

/me openly admits her Matrix-geekness

Not that anybody cares, I'm sure.

So, I started clicking on webpages, and the links keep going and going, with no end in sight. I'm thoroughly confused, so I'll just ask - does anyone know what the Ong's Hat thing is all about?

Ong's Hat also related to Chasing The Wish as part of the back story.

I think we hooked a live one when Cabalagent sent people looking for information on Ong's Hat. Good Job Dave! Laughing

I do so hate websites that are small white text on black. At 1280 pixels, it's almost illegible, and as for red on black, as the links on there display, forget it. "Use View Largest Font," I hear you suggest. Not a very great deal better.

There are SO many highly acceptable combinations of pale background with deep coloured text, I wonder why anyone bothers with white on black. At one time, white, green or amber on black was all we could have. We used to dream of having a screen that actually looked like a printed page. Now we have it, what do these kids do? Back to glass teletype. Sheesh.

I will modify that statement somewhat. A black background is nice for pictures and for decent sized heading text. But, for general use, particularly with text-heavy content, it's a no-no.

Oh, and before someone reads significance into the coincidence that Gil is a protagonist in the story and that my name is Gil, there is no connection, I promise.

Gil, did you get your avatar from PoliticsForum.org?

Those cats are nuttier than a Dickens fruitcake.

You're not nuttier than a Dickens fruitcake, are you? Are you!?

My avatar is rumoured to be Sigmund Freud. If I remember, I first used it on Mornington Crescent In Outer Space in about 1997. How do you expect me to remember where I got it from after all this time? I'm even nuttier than a Cadbury's Fruit and Nut case.

They use avatars like that on PoliticsForum. My favorite was the Mikhail Bakunin.

Beyond that, I just wanted an excuse to use the phrase, "nuttier than a Dickens fruitcake."

Anyways, cool looking avatar.
