Thanks for that reply kona, and not just taking what I was posting as some UF bashing.
I think if the PMs want us to keep information private on these forums, they're probably going to have to just come right out and tell us.
The only example of people connecting their in-game user ID with their "real" names was the meeting with Eileen5. And of course, we all know what happened there. <grin>
Other than that, there hasn't been any indicator or "punishment" for people sharing information either on this forum or in IRC chat.
As for me, I'm playing it safer than usual and not posting on any "personal" contact I have with COD. (ex: No one knows my citizen ID)

Is there any way to obtain citizenship WITHOUT using AIM? I'm at work, and have absolutely no way to use AIM here... (no, don't offer your suggestions... I've tried them all)
Otherwise, I fear I won't get to play this game, that I'm really really excited about!

From what it looks like, the only way to join is by AIM. Unless anyone says otherwise...

I've been waiting elsewhere (you'll never guess) for several months, and thought it was time to try another ARG, so a relative newbee - in that I havn't actually played yet!
I have emailed to dome central, loaded AIM, got DomeCentral on my buddy list, tried IMing several times (their info comes up, but they show as offline, so I gather this means that they are invsible), but still nothing. Is is possible that as a totally unknown person they won't give me a password?
Thanks

Ask DomeCenteral if you can be a citizen. Their current away message is,
Quote:
DomeCentral is the contact for new citizens to join the new CityofDomes.
Welcome new citizens!
Then see http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11043 for the possible questions you may get asked.

I can't imagine that would be the case. It would have to be a silly PM that restricts playership...

I finally got a response from DomeCentral on AIM, notice anything new??
Quote:
me (1:39:21 PM): Hello, I would like access to the City of Domes
DomeCentral (1:39:29 PM): Verify your net-circuit mail identity
me (1:39:34 PM): myemail
DomeCentral (1:39:52 PM): You are requesting access to the City of Domes?
me (1:39:56 PM): yes
DomeCentral (1:39:58 PM): Understand access is given only to true, honest and knowledgeable citizens who believe in the City of Domes.
me (1:40:6 PM): I understand
DomeCentral (1:40:22 PM): What is the purpose of Carousel?
me (1:40:27 PM): renewal
DomeCentral (1:40:33 PM): What does your lifeclock do when it is your time for Renewal?
me (1:40:40 PM): flashes red
DomeCentral (1:40:52 PM): Would you ever be a Runner?
me (1:40:57 PM): Never
me (1:41:2 PM): what are runners
DomeCentral (1:41:6 PM): Hold Please
DomeCentral (1:45:36 PM): You will be issued a COD identity and password, which is not to be shared with others.
All COD access is monitored and recorded. Multiple or duplicate access will result in COD account termination.
Do you understand this?
me (1:45:44 PM): Understood
DomeCentral (1:45:51 PM): What is your current name?
me (1:45:55 PM): Nox
DomeCentral (1:46:45 PM): Your account will be activated after processing is complete.
Your identity and password are as follows:
DomeCentral (1:46:57 PM):
DomeCentral (1:47:1 PM):
Welcome to the City of Domes
me (1:47:8 PM): thank you DomeCentral
DomeCentral (1:47:13 PM): Enjoy
I find it interesting that DomeCentral metioned Runners. The plot thickens?
Also, the "Enjoy" was a rather humanistic touch, don't you think?

It seems they want participants who know about "Logan's Run" for a reason.
Any ideas?

maybe to lead us to a fansite that they have commandeered for the game.
like http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Dimension/5357/loveshop.htm
This site has always seemed a bit suspicious to me, but the community has deemed it OOG.
Just a thought.

I came across that site while 'googling' some things the other day and I thought it looked odd too. But, on reflection, isn't it a little *too* obvious?
I didn't post it myself at the time because I'm completely new to all of this, and just lately *everything* looks suspicious to me

The parent site of the Logans Run Tour *is* a fan site, and while useful for research purposes, would not be considered in-game as it is not "living in alternative reality where the characters think the City of Domes is a real place and Dome Central is a real computer entitity running the joint".
However, good site for reference if you've not seen the movie or not seen it in a long time. And probably has lots of pictures that can be used for websites and personalization of your emails if needed

Quote:
Cronauer101: Hi...I am able to access the city again...was I renewed?
DomeCentral: Maybe it was a sign?
DomeCentral: Welcome back
Cronauer101: thank you
DomeCentral: Enjoy the evening
Enjoy the evening? hmmmmm

Never mind "enjoy the evening" - DC says maybe it was a sign!
Could this be the sign Coby3 was talking about?
Is Coby3 somehow working through or hijacking DomeCentral? That would explain how the autoresponses from him when you respond to his original email seem to come from DomeCentral.
