I did contact Coby3 and got the first response but not the second. I also DID get the Sandman recruitment e-mail...

Hi all!
I'm a newbie to ARG so go easy
I received a mail from cody3 this morning and was surprised as I hadn't contacted them. I'm still trying to decipher the mail. You would think that, if this was a genuine ARG then giving your postal address would be acceptable and part of the norm.
However one thing keeps going around in my mind; "...watch for ths sign. bliss." Having trawled many script extracts and fan website for references of 'bliss', it seems that it's only used as a description given to how citizens live their lives (in bliss). But I can't help but think of the saying 'ignorance is bliss' which leads me to believe that this may be another trick and that it should be ignored.
Does anybody know anything about non-citizens? Should we, as playing citizens, trust them?

From http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Dimension/5357/arcade.htm
In the Hallucimill section:
"Free samples of Lysergic Foam (LF) 'synthetic bliss' still available at our Roeburt facility."
I have a feeling that that's what coby3's talking about.

Why give us free foam though?

Not sure...just a thought. Just seems to fit cuz coby3 is from the Hallucimill and that's where the liquid bliss was talked about. Maybe I'm reading too far into this.

I think he wants to give you drugs. OK, I decided to do a little googling on lysergic and this is the first thing that popped up (lysergic acid diethylamide). Its a hallucinogen for those of you that dont know called LSD. From what I read its not a very addictive drug at all. Niether is the toxin they put in you in the hallucimill that allows you to relive past experiences or just plain hallucinate. Now I know what the hallucimill is for. Its a place to go trip out on acid. Sounds fun huh? That would explain where the feeling of bliss may come from. Anyway im not sure where i was going with all this so sorry. But just watch out in the mail for smiley faced stickers. Try not to lick them or even touch them
Here is the webpage I read. It contains info on LSD and thats it.
http://www.nida.nih.gov/Infofacts/LSD.html
Im still wondering what this lysergic foam is exactly. Synthetic Bliss? Most LSD now a days would also be synthetic. Id really like to watch the movie to get a better idea of the hallucimill. The time frame of the movie also leads me to believe it has alot to do with this. Ive gotta watch it. Liquid bliss (liquid lsd)

There is no hallucimil in the movie. This is a game mechanic, or a reference to the book, which I havent read.

I'm thinking that telling Coby3 your decision may not be the best tact. Here's how I replied:
Quote:
I have made my decision. I'm ready to take the next step.
along with my address.
I did this because of a few things in the email. A) Coby3 said the communication could fall into the wrong hands and B) "Choose once, honor that choice, and until further notice, share your decision with no one"
I may be paranoid/overly cryptic, but who knows?

Okay, lemme just say for the record: I think the book will be important for our understanding of some of the things in this game
I'm just beginning to read, and let me point out a few things:
1) There are Hallucimils in the book. They administer LS foam, as previously discussed. The administered trips are called Lifts. LS Foam is referred to as "Synthetic Bliss."
I believe we will look to the hallucimil for our Sign. Bliss.
2) Coby tells us to choose a side. In the first pages of the book, Logan 3 surveys the monitoring equipment as he tracks a runner. Allow me to quote:
Quote:
A light went on at fourth level east. Citizen alarm. Logan noted it. Ordinary citizens are your best allies when a runner is loose.
So, citizens are civic minded. In fact, there is much derision towards running in the culture, they are spat upon and reported, along with runner sympathizers.
So, youve got your runners, your sandmen, and your citizens, which could either help runners or sandmen. Be wary, all.
I'll be reading the book very intensely now that I've made it to my local library:)
It seems we can expect this universe to be an amalgamation of book and movie. They are not very alike, let me tell you, so we'll need to draw from both to understand what's going on.
