[Trailhead] Corrupt Football League from the second item in this page (inspired by this article ) we learn:
Quote:
I Love
Bees
Blitz
Midway is getting in on the "alternate reality game" trend in an attempt to generate hype for its upcoming non-NFL football game Blitz: The League (PS2, Xbox). The publisher has set up at least three sites supposedly existing in the world of the fictional Blitz League, created in response to EA's monopolistic exclusive acquisition of the NFL license for video games. The sites include blitzleague.com , the official site of the apparently corrupt league (charities sponsored by the league include "Reach For the Sky" and "Make Your Peace", and official league tactics include leg whips and face mask grabs); blitznewz.com , an unofficial site covering league news with a critical eye; and reddogdown.com , from a clue on Blitz Newz. The latter contains a puzzle that is fairly simple by the standards of projects such as Halo 2's I Love Bees.
Whois searches on the domains reveal that all three sites are in fact registered by Midway.
Searched and didn't find a reference to this here yet, but feel free to trout me if there's some corner I missed!

New York Nightmare My team the New York Nightmare is "the most feared team in the League"
I already printed my tickets for the whole season.
A word find (sorry FLmutant teh evil cube has put me off solving these at least until September.)
http://www.blitzleague.com/time_out.html
and the so-called hint from http://www.blitznewz.com/article.php?article=02:

Something interesting about the word puzzle - In the "people of the league" section one of the featured individuals is the head water boy. He seems to be rather abused by his co-workers, but passes it off like it's no big deal. The bio then goes on to say that he's an amateur web designer and is the one who made the "time out" page.
Also of note for its ominous nature (at least to me) is that the official beverage of the league is ChemiAid. Not the most drinkable sounding potable if you ask me.
Wish I had time to work on the word puzzle. Stupid job:)

Okay, I've done the word puzzle

The only thing is - I'm missing 3 words: kickoff, signal & tackle. I found "kickof" and "signa" and you'll notice they are circled with a heavier line. As for tackle, I'm either blind or it's not there. So if someone could just double check, I would appreciate it.

So did anyone else see the real Field of Schemes book webpage and be all like "what the hell?" like me?
What a waste of time. This whole thing is just horrid, poop-monster style marketing.

While I am wondering what to do next, I don't quite think I'm at the level you are.

I don't know about that. The Blitz League site was quite well written and fairly amusing. I'll grant you that the puzzles leading up to the book were pretty easy, but if this is just an initial rabbithole aimed at people from outside our community, it needs to be fairly obvious to suck people in.
I am kinda curious just exactly what you find so distasteful about this. From my viewpoint, they really haven't done anything that other corporate ARGs haven't done in the past.

do you mean www.fieldofschemes.com ?
or the website that Ehsan spoilered in a post above?
I am confused by your reaction - I thought the book excerpt on the site in this game was a send-up of a real book. I found the simple puzzles to be understandable given the assumed level of the character's puzzle making experience.
Note that the word search says "Go to httpreddogdowncom" since we know who made it, the league water boy (you don't find the idea of a water boy for league officials to be humorous?) I think that may be a kloo.

Look at www.blitzleague.com/time_out.html again. Your puzzle is missing the very last row with the word "tackle" and the missing letters of "kickoff" and "signal".

Nice to know they fixed the picture My original file was a direct save from the website, plus I double checked the website picture looking several times for "tackle" in case I was getting confused with my circling.
However, I am totally ashamed to admit that I missed the forest for the trees in that word puzzle. I saw the down and I saw the com (thinking - that com would be great for a url if I didn't end up using those letters) but I totally glossed over the whole "go to http reddogdown com". All that work for nothing

Okay, "This whole thing is just horrid, poop-monster style marketing" is right up there with "they are filling the Internet with pernicious lies" on the "fun use of words" scale.

Did you also notice the words "sorry row" written backwards on the bottom line?
