I dont quite understand the reasoning why this clue is being linked to a london landmark.

Ok, so the "clock" idea went off on a bit of a tangent...

Anyway, ignoring the landmark thing, we could still interpret "needle and face" as a compass. Which means "understand and pace" could still be a reference to walking somewhere, maybe once we've cracked the rest of the code.

Incidentally, I've been playing with Vigenere keys to make the code end in .php, .htm, etc. So far I've had no luck in key "ends" that might suggest the key is a sensible word - or (more likely) the code has nothing to do with Vigenere Wink Oh well, it was worth a shot, I suppose.

well,
just my cents,
and forgive if i'm overstating the obvious,

but watches (and clocks) have hands.
I think that is a fairly unchallengable statement,
in most any english speaking culture,
and since the rhyme doesn't seem to bear any reference to any classical riddles,
we have to assume that it was written specifically for this puzzle and
that calling a watch hand a needle woudl have been unnecessarily confusing and that therefore the riddle means what it says specifically

needle and face

which implies either a compass (as stated previously, and which would imply a correlation with the rest of the email resembling common letterbox clues)

or possibly some kind of guage,

Odomemters, pressure guages, and so on,
all have needles and faces.

and the sturcture of the riddle seems to imply that the needle and face is the thing that we need to copy and paste,
which would imply that those words or the item they are implying is a key to another cipher, (possibly the subject line)

also,
is this likely to correlate to one of the unsolved image puzzles (there is still at least oneyes?)
or do we feel that it is a seperate clue completely unrelated?

Sorry about the nelsons post - I hadn't read all the posts and it wasn't a nice time (after 9pm I don't think)

Ive questioned some friends to see if they have any ideas on the riddle but no luck. The best one yet has been anagrams (why is it that all my good ideas come to me in the bath?) - could the lines be rearranged to mean something more... meaningful?

The bigben page was added to the pemesent site at 14.00 10/06/05 which is 13 minutes before the news of zoe's death was posted on the informant news site.

Im not to sure what relevance this has but its best to post everything we have on this

I also just noticed the millenium wheel pic on leo's Flickr - Big ben is in it and in a funny way it looks like a compass needle / hand on a clock. Probably nothing but once again worth mentioning.

Well done, labfly!
It does not really accord with the puzzle, though, does it? If the subject in the e-mail message was the coded filename, why are there only 6 letters, with only one repetition? And although I can see where "huge but small" comes in (sort of, anyway), I cannot for the life of me figure out "little but much", or "understand and pace". Confused
Talking about punctuation, I was just about to ask you the meaning of "subscribition" on the thankyou page. Wink

i think "little but much" is simply that the message is little
"she is alive" but it means so much... my spec on that

understand and pace.. no clue on that but there may be more to this
than i found
edit: i think there may be two more pics or messages to find

and of course all spelling mistakes and punctuation haunts me
but i'm doing my best not to get too obsessed

Well seeing as how incredibly half assed the last clue was I would think that understand and pace would mean,
we will have to wait for more information.

Pace also implys waiting,
and if there are no images of treasure maps or hiking trails popping up
i'd say that seems to tbe the message.

"once you solve this clue you are going to have to stew on it for awhile because we are busy writng pieces for our halo 2 fan fic site"

I mean I'm sorry but bigben seems like a bit of a leap,
well spotted labfly,
I guess I was just giving the resistance too much credit.
No wonder they need our help.

grumble grumble

I reckon there is more to it than this. The PMs know we already knew Zoe's death was a fake - they are reading what we post. So the 'she is alive' pic (/bigben) was either orginally intended for other means (in case we didn't pick up on it) or is another level on the same puzzle. I don't think we can close this puzzle yet as, after all, telling us stuff we already know isn't going to be very useful to the plot.

Either that or it's lazy puppeteering. Confused

Idea

MAYBE... just maybe, the answer to the riddle is a passcode for a clue stegged in the image!
Possible...
(another great idea thought of in the bath)

:edit: One more thing (sorry if this has already been covered) - 'needle and face' ~ cleopatra's needles?

point being that they put it up prior to us knowing that
she was alive... perhaps they're just confirming..??

i do think we've got more to uncover and that bigben
was just part of it

edit: i'm wondering about the obelisk also, poosod.. thinking face is just the bigben..cleo's "needle"... and that leads me to thinking about "the Strand"..
the "embankment".... ec4... and now i'm horribly confused

If Big Ben had never been mentioned (I know i started that one!), we would still be trying to solve the poss puzzle in the subject title (d9h5qd5.tjo). On that basis i would have to agree with everyone else that there is still more to this.

One thing i have found from crawling the site is this ext link:

www.dtheatre.com/scripts/

This is a link to jack's formail which is some sort of www form to e-mail management software. There is an option to specify the subject field so we definitely know its not random code.

New e-mail received this morning

You are all aware of the situation with Zoe.
150164164160072057057167167167056142154 As you can imagine I am under a lot of surveillance. 157147147145162056143157155057160162157 The police, and Zoe's "family" have me down as the prime suspect.
146151154145057065067063060065071066 I was questioned all last night, and have just been allowed home. 0000000000000000000000000000000000000
I don't think you can help any further, I have no way of getting out of this. I believe there is some evidence that will prove my innocence, however it has been placed out of my reach. If you come across it, don't browse, but pass it swiftly to me. L.

Subject = simple plea.

from = LSPLATpemesent.com

The code is octal:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://www.blogger.com/profile/5730596

As yet I havent found anything out of the ordinary but will keep plugging at it.

Im not sure what the zeros are for though??

I did find a link to this http://www.bvalphaserver.com/ which is full of conspiracy theories but nothing i could find.

Ok well i have tried the usual suspects as blog names, including Leo Seagrave, Zoe Hay-Bote, Pemesent, Terrent, Operation Prove.

Have also tried all the blogs using United Kingdom as the location but nothing there either.

Hmmm, and why does he say:

Quote:
I don't think you can help any further, I have no way of getting out
of this.

and then say the opposite with:

Quote:
I believe there is some evidence that will prove my
innocence, however it has been placed out of my reach. If you come
across it, don't browse, but pass it swiftly to me.
