If Captain James Cook managed to get here from there in a wooden boat surely we can craft something together with all of this modern technology *shrugs*

Guys, there's at least 2 of you in Sydney. What's stopping you setting up an Australian meet-up? Wink

I'm in if it's the first date in the poll...

And for the record, I'm 18...

With various weddings and whatnots I'm obliged to go to I am well in.

I'm new to the whole ARG world and I'm quite enjoying it after a week-is their a way to remedy the fact that I missed out on six months of events/news?

Yes, but it's time consuming. Read EVERY post, and the whole WIKI.

I would like to point out that this entire thing has turned out to be a farce on my part. I apologise, as I have no douby wasted many people's time and energy.

I would like to ask for a lock that protects my dignity. Thank you

(I mean a thread deletion)

What do you mean, we can still set one up, whether you were of any use or not. The last date seems good. Just need to knock about events, schedule, locations etc.

To summarise:

The 20th-22nd weekend is the most popular with a whopping 50%, so unless anyone comes up with a pretty good reason/manages to swing the poll another direction, we can meet up then.

One destination we can all agree on is Playlounge. We buy cards or watch other people buy cards. If necessary, we storm the shop en masse, although I'm sure if it's that small we might be able to restrain ourselves and go in a few at a time.

If it's dry, then we can head over to one of many of London's lovely parks, possibly Hyde Park, and mess around solve puzzles and discuss plot points for a while. If it's wet, we have a contingency plan such as finding a dry place where we don't have to spend too much money so as not to get kicked out. Anyone volunteering such a dry place would no doubt be rewarded handsomely. With friends.

Any other ideas of things to go and places to see would be great as that's not much to fill a long day. I can imagine sitting around talking for hours, but I can also imagine that getting boring after a while, so a few more ideas wouldn't hurt.

Should thirst/hunger take us (and judging by earlier posts, it will), then we will find drink/food of a type that is acceptable to the majority.

In other words, we all turn up, meet somewhere (Playlounge/station/random point only mentioned in obscure puzzle), do what we want to do and then go home.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I certainly won't be checking anyone's age. If you feel comfortable meeting up with strangers on the net in the middle of London all on your own, then so be it. If we do find alcohol, again, I won't check anyone's age, but a pub might. Be sensible - if you look too young to get served anywhere other than your local, then chances are you won't get served. There's always soft drinks, and I don't think that the main part of the day will be drinking. All parts of the day would be entirely voluntary and I'd certainly give out my mobile number via PM to be contactable throughout the day for people turning up late (if I'm there the whole time). I expect there'll be people who need to disappear throughout the day due to various commitments, and while I'm over 18, I'm not a heavy drinker, so I probably wouldn't be able to last a night with some.

All in all, Jay, I think this was a good idea. If you can't come/think this is a silly idea, tough, we nicked it Very Happy Of course, if you have any suggestions/ideas as to why this shouldn't go ahead, then do tell, but I think there's enough of us planning to meet up some time in August that this thread is very worthy of staying open and you should be very proud of having started it.

Even if no one else will come with me, I'm going to have a fun day. Very Happy

That's a very good plan. I would suggest pubs along Great Portland street, there are various good, and cheap, Samuel Smith pubs on the street where ploughmans lunches can be purchased. If we do go to regents park (great park idea btw), there is also a pub nearby called the Hardcourt arms which sells Swedish pear cider which is an impressively nice drink.

You'd need a third person to stop the fights and buy the drinks...
