So, shall we say about 10/11am at PlayLounge on the 20th August? Very Happy

Then, as PP suggested Pubbage and Grubbage then layabout with cards and stuff... Maybe we should email MC suggesting that they might find it profitable to release the next wave of cards that weekend? Wink

Well, I'll be there, who else for defn?

Jeb

I would say definitely, but the planned events seem thin. If we came up with more stuff i would go for sure.

Other than lounging around talking about puzzles, characters and stories I can't really think about much more to do.

10/11ish seems slightly early, maybe later in the day at 3/4ish would be better as there would be less time which would seem better the events seem thin.

NEW EVENT TO ADD TO SCHEDULE: storm Mind Candy's offices. They must be listed somewhere (I think they said they were in Stockwell). Imagine how they would react to 20 players turning up on their doorstep, demanding access!!!

Well if its on a weekend then maybe me and jo can make a token appearance, but it depends on whos heading down.

Anyway, the Abbey Road meet was pritty much sit in a pub all day, but me and jo left that to the others and we went round the British Museum...

You know all this talk of London meetups may force another IRL event like Abbey Road.

As for Mind Candy offices....Companies House people Smile

Mind Candy is based in central London, but the exact address is not suitable for display here.

Um, calling the police?

I mean come on guys, these are real people trying to do a job. Leave 'em be. I've deleted the address, if indeed it is the address of MC, rather than a legal representative or suchlike. That's because while I'm sure everyone here is sensible enough not to harass and annoy the good folks putting on this game for us, I don't really want it up here on record for an inevitable nutter to discover.

OK, kvetching complete. The meet sounds totally good to me, and I'll do my best to make it. It is over three weeks away, so I'm sure we can plan some fun stuff to do to make it a little more worthwhile for those coming from more of a distance... I'm not a native Londoner myself, so I'll defer suggestions to those in the capital itself. Anything cool we should see / do / go to?

(Oh, and I agree with the idea we should maybe have it a little later in the day, kicking off early afternoon perhaps - makes the morning a little less painful to those coming from further.)

I'm a native londoner (and know my way around, despite being the tender age of 15). I would recommend a lunch in Wagamama, it's a noodle bar with great long tables, which doesn't take bookings, so we *should* be able to eat together in a big forum style. there are loads all over the capital, close to Playloung there is one near Leicester Square, and one in Covent Garden. Really good food, prices, and fast service. (I don't work for them, honest!)

I am gonna contact MInd Candy and see if they are interested in doing anything on the day.

If anyone has any ideas of the sort of thing they want to do, I can suggest specifics.

OK, just sent them this email:
Quote:
Dear Sir or Madam
Inspired by the ARGfest held in America recently, many people on UnForum have been suggesting that we hold a European event, similar to the American one, but focused on Perplex City. Many people were impressed by your attendance and the speech that was given at the American ARGfest. I would like to extend to you, on behalf of the ARG community, an invitation to the event. We do not expect anything special, but your attendance would be greatly appreciated. We are not certain of the date yet, but it is likely to be held on the weekend of August 20-22nd. We hope that your response will confirm your attendance, but we will understand if you cannot attend.
Yours in anticipation,
oliverkeers13 & the ARG community.

I'll try and make it somehow I think won't make it but until further notice count me IN

Jeb, I was going to say something that I have forgot!
/me is so absent minded

Seej, your birthday was a day before mine. Congrats!

As for storming the mindcandy offices, I wonder why Question It's not like we would be showered with a nice sit down and a cup of tea for 20 something people. Besides I doubt we could hunt them down. They are not too stupid and wherever there registered offices would be would not be where they would be working from. You'd guess Rolling Eyes

I got this reply from Michael Smith himself:
Quote:
Hey Oliver

ARGfest in the US was a huge amount of fun and I think a European event is a great idea.

If Perplex City was a key element of the event then Mind Candy would certainly be keen to help drum up publicity within our existing player base and also the wider media.

We could also potentially help with some of the costs involved in putting the event on.

Only problem with late August is that a lot of people might be away on holiday then. Have you thought about early/mid September?? I'm personally out of the country from the 18th until about the 30th so would be really disappointed if I missed it.

Looking forward to meeting you

Michael

So What do you guys think about shifting it to September. If they got heavily involved (as they seem to want to do), we could really improve it greatly. Any thoughts?
