Or... not put a cryptic in nature string of characters in an error message meant as a mere placeholder.

Sorry, I don't buy that it's insignificant Smile

It's possible it does mean something, but at first glance it seems to short to be a MD5 string. My first guess was hex but came up with nothing but gibberish.

Oh, and do follow the "Thou Shalt Not Brute Force" rule. It makes it easier on the PMs and keeps the game enjoyable

Could someone with the right software or experience take a look at the MySQL error comparin it to the earlier coded strings? Might be worth a look?

So... we should proceed by NOT decrypting a machine-encoded secret with a machine?

Should we get out our magic ring decoder for this one instead, or try to do it A Beautiful Mind style by staring at the string of characters?

I could see the argument if it were bruting a password field or something, but there is no mathematically sound way to reverse this cipher. Yanno?

Dude these args are designed to be enjoyable, and designed with the ten commandments or ARGing in mind. At no point does a string ever require brute force to decode. Its supposed to rely on our own logic, not how fast our hardware is.

Then we are not meant to use a mathematical method to "Crack" the cipher. If it was important for us to decode, we would be given a key to decode it.

For instance, the images with Stegging in them, those that have been stegged have had no codeword (splash.jpg) or the codeword is the same as that we used to get the image (img_4yoUreyesonly.jpg). And we only got those puzzles as we showed the PM's we could handle stegged images (By trying it at the very beginning)

I have an alternate interpretation of the HTML comments. I don't have the time to explore them yet, but maybe someone can pick up here...

ok, the first one is obviously (- represents space)
Code:
-----6--------9

So, six in the 6th place and nine in the 9th place after the six.

Now, the second tag is:

Code:
-14-7-

The 14 looked strange me, aren't there only 9 keywords? Could it be - one four - seven -? i.e. the line has keywords one and four and seven?

So maybe keywords 1, 4, 6, 7, and 9 are on this page today and the rest tomorrow?

Hate to love and leave......

Hate to love 'n leave you all, but I've got to go away for 6 days...

I'm in the RDF, the Army Reserves here in Ireland, and I've got to go to a barracks in Cavan to be bored. No computers accessible to non-admin people, and no cyber cafe within walking distance of the place. Oh well.

Don't suppose yu could all act retarded for me? So nothin gets done for the week? So I don't miss too much?
Didn't think so. Ok then.

Bye all... See ye next Saturday Wink

Kisses, Shambles the Basstard

seems you've been barking around the wrong tree.

first part is credited to Kelly k on the bluesnews comments board. entering "genome" in the keyword box, gives you a link to dyforsanide.mp3. sounds like game music, this mp3 has the comment "Demosthenes", which is the second keyword. gives the title "Key to the City" above a picture of a futuristic city and the phrase "Objects in browser are bigger than they appear."

Hold up! Someone anonymous just posted that genome was a keyword on the ritualistic.com forums! It works.

Am downloadina file linked to there, dyforsanide.mp3

It'll take a while for me, you should get it and start takin it apart.
It's startin to look like the site is not a proper ARG tho, just a set of puzzles to reveal new bits of the game - the eyes concept art, andnow an mp3track thats probably in the soundtrack. Bummer.

Ok now I'm really gone. X

EDIT: and then someone beats me to it. Feckers.
Kiddin lmao

Was it told how 'genome' was found as a password? Or is it one of those mysterious things one pulls out of thin air?

Does this city have a name? Maybe that's the 'key'...
