[OOG] Trip to New York

Hey everyone

I'm visiting New York next week for 5 days (21st-26th) - yay!

Knowing some of you lovely Cubehunters live there, are there any things happening you could recommend? I mean, we are doing as much touristy stuff as possible plus other cool stuff (Broadway show (hopefully), Applegreeter (hopefully) & Bike ride over Brooklyn Bridge) but if there is anything you think is really worth doing/seeing then I would be muchos grateful for your suggestions.

Cheers,

Stephen

Personally, I'd just recommend roaming aimlessly for a good portion of time. Pick a district, take the subway, and just see what comes up on foot. The best places are the ones you find yourself. Do all the big stuff, yeah, but make sure to keep off the beaten path when time permits.

One place I would recommend an excursion to, easily, would be Coney Island. Great spot to visit: classic wooden roller coaster (landmark status), awesome hot dogs (original Nathan's), old-school freak show (ask for Dick, if he's in; he owns the place; cool guy). Aquarium, sand beach, full amusement park, and minor league baseball park, too.

There are free concerts and event-a-ma-jiggers going all summer in the city in the River to River Festival, so see if anyone you want to see or anything you want to do is going on while you're in.

And one final thing to know: NEW YORK CITY IS NOT JUST MANHATTAN! Don't count out Kings, Queens, The Bronx, or Staten Island. Manhattan might be the iconic area, but there's boatloads of other things to do in the other boroughs.

I'll edit if I can think of more things to say. Very Happy
