I only got one email

I just got the one email today - with the abe lincoln look-alike.

I'm pretty sure most of the pics on his friends page are really from a community and not in-game. The urban decay community has hundreds of members.

If anybody wants livejournal codes, I have a few.

Also, I've made a filter for my livejournal for the people who are or might be in-game.

Please let me know if there are any lj-ers I should add to this page.

Hello there - this game looks very promising...

No one seems to have posted here yet what the original 'Adrian Lincoln' picture is actually of.

It depicts the supposed Masonic Signal of Distress.

Quote:
"The sign is given by raising both hands and arms to the elbows, perpendicularly, one on each side of the head, the elbows forming a square. The words accompanying this sign, in case of distress, are, 'O Lord, my God! is there no help for the widow's son?'"

(from http://www.geocities.com/swickersc/mormonmason.html )

I daresay that the 'Will no one help the widow's son" element of this will prove significant.

For now, we're just IRCing in #unfiction at chat-sol. Perhaps, if this develops into something, we can branch off into (yet another) chat room for it Very Happy

irc.chat-solutions.org for IRC clients
www.aint-it-cool.com/chat.html for java-based web chat
#unfiction is room name

A fresh face on the case

I tried to find your group on IRC - but I guess you're gone.

I've been a fan of ARGs for a while, but I've never found out about one before it's too late. So here's my attempt to get in on the ground floor.

All I've got to contribute at this point is a little investigation into what I thought was an interesting poem - posted here, it's one of Ewan's comments on another user's site. Two comments intrigued me - Moloch - which has two big hits on Google - one for a NY based hacker site at www.moloch.org, and another from the Catholic Encyclopedia describing Moloch as a false idol worshipped by the Hebrews. This subject heading was complemented by a passage excerpted from Allen Ginsberg's 'Howl' - which ties in well with the urban decay imagery. In 'Howl', Ginsberg curses Moloch as a 'sphinx of cement and aluminum'.

Why is Hugh Inn searching for Moloch online? Was he looking for the hacker group, the false idol, or the Ginsberg poem?

References to other ARGs

Is this a ploy to get people interested fast?

Ewan here seems to have referenced TWO other ARGs - one which got a lot of attention, that Ewan left Klepsydra, and the other was a comment posted on GenTel Janitor's LiveJournal page, which I've heard is a character from LockJaw.

I'm getting so confused with all of these references...

Actually the genTel Janitor was a fan-created character in LockJaw. Hilarious guy.
