[Still Life] New promo ARG announced

Microids will use an ARG as a way to promote its new adventure game, "Still Life". The ARG has been created by The Adventure Company, and will definitely start quite soon, since the release date for Still Life is April 14. I still haven't found nothing interesting in http://www.stilllife-game.com/ , and probably it's just not started yet, but if you guys can have a look at it, just to be sure... Wink

For the whole story: http://www.adventuregamers.com/newsitem.php?id=915

Nadif, I know (I think) you're not involved in this one, but it's funny cuz I got this feeling like the next sentence you would write in your post was:

"The legal department for the Adventure Company promises this game will be spontaneous. Of course, we've planned everything, but you won't know that. You will not know what will happen next. (By the way, The next step will be to find a letter written by the still-life painter Janogn!) We don't mean to take the surprise out of finding the "rabbit-hole" but we wanted to make sure you knew where the site was, so please play at 'ThisisablatantgameandwedontcaresoscrewyouwithyourTINAGcrap.com'"

Laughing

EDIT: I will totally sell my rights to that URL by the way... just $200 and the domain is yours! Whoo-hoo!

LOL Dorkmaster!
I can assure you, I have nothing to do with this one (or with any other one, by the way). I just spotted the announcement on Adventure Gamers and posted the news and the link here - after all, a thread called "News & rumors" seems to me the right place for, well, news. Very Happy

Anyway, from Microids' press release it looks like they really don't give a damn are not concerned about rabbit-holes and others issues that usually the ARG players care about, since the press release itself:
1) explains quite a lot about how the game will function, 2) boldly invites to "keep an eye" in the official Still Life site, and finally 3) er... has been released. Rolling Eyes

There was also a news story on argn.com about this.

Yes, I know. This is a pointless post.

Checked it out... Checked everything.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I watched the trailers and noticed in one of them the word lombartech was displayed twice. So, I googled for lombartech and ended up at a site called www.lombartech.com Looked legit so I decided to poke around a bit. Went to this page http://www.lombartech.com/software.aspx. In the lower left there is an add for their software. If you look at the add, you will notice that a single letter changes from black to red. Then another and another. It spells out "see through the lies"! Check it for yourself!! It's definitely "in game".

Great job Kelis! I knew there had to be something I missed, they wouldn't have announced the game so openly if it wasn't already up and running, in pre-game at least.
BTW, the Lombartech site is amazingly realistic. I almost sent them my resume. Very Happy

I emailed their PR office pretending to be a journalist and asking for press kit and such stuff. Let's wait and see.

I also e-mailed as a journalist, but from a college paper, usual stuff as well as asking what advice they have for young people entering IT looking to work for a company such as theirs. Hope it might get us a little info for us to use when we apply for jobs Smile

Just a quick addendum:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The red letter effect happens in the 'Factory 2005' section in all the pages, not just the software one.

I dropped a note to the "products" email asking for a complete list (on the behalf of a technology firm I just made up). Somebody should also hit the "eliteservices" one.

EDIT: There's also legalSPLATLombartech.com, but you'll have to make up a pretty good story to mail that one.

META: It'd be very nifty it this game turns out to have "character classes" of sorts, where some people can join the company, some people can be "journalists", and some people can be independent companies interested in Lombartech products. Probably too much to expect, though.

The admin of the Still Life Game Forums uses the company and site addy as part of his Sig. while discussing (or rather not discussing) release details.

Looks like so much fun!

I just sent in a lovely fake CV. I wonder if they like it!?
