 		i need a pillow, now I get it. Tokelau is the obvious choice after all. Thank you for the explanation.

Regarding the barcode, I got a slightly different set of binary values. (Note: I reversed the 1's and 0's from your method, counting the black bars as 1's and the white spaces as 0's. After figuring out the end of the code, I guessed there must be two black bars that are invisible against the black background in the start of the sequence. I used this website http://www.barcodeisland.com/code128.phtml to match my binary values with letter values.)

The message reads:

I'm now going to spend more time with barcodes in hopes that Lewis the Second's callingcard.jpg will reveal something. I have the horrible suspicion the encoded message will be 6, 7, 2.

Edit: The barcode on the calling card, making allowances for the reproduction quality, does appear to be a CODE 39 barcode for 6, 7, 2. Using this site http://www.barcodeisland.com/code39.phtml it looks like the bands follow this pattern:
101100110101 = 6
101001011011 = 7
101100101011 = 2
10010101???? or 100100101??? or 100101001??? = ?

It does not seem there are enough white bands in the last part of the barcode to make a recognizable CODE 39 character. Even allowing for hidden black bars on the black background to pad out the final sequence, nothing matches the CODE 39 table. I'm stumped.

 		Nice work on barcode.jpg, though I can't think of any leads it gives us. As for callingcard.jpg, I'm also stumped about what to do. It's interesting, though, that you didn't mention any start or stop characters in it. Did you omit them for clarity, or were they not there? If they weren't, that seems a bit odd (though I don't know what that would mean).

 		I'd say the Conspiracy of B barcode is simply decorative, nothing more.

As far as callingcard.jpg, the barcode does not neatly fit into a perfect pattern. What I posted was my best guess as to how to read the card. It seems to fit the encoding of 6, 7, 2 using CODE 39, and you're right, it has no discernable start code. The final part of the pattern is also a mystery.

Maybe it has no further significance than 672. One can't help but notice how often that number is repeated. Reviewing the im transcripts and emails of Arsenic and Lewis the Second, 22, Adam Fritz, and Julia Blackwolf have pointed out 672 over and over. What we are supposed to do with this magic number, however, I haven't a clue.

For the record, here are some of the references to 672 gleaned from other posts. I grouped them according to who mentioned them.

22, Adam Fritz, and Julia Blackwolf all mention:
    Monique Claret's card has "The Magic Number 672" printed on it.

22 and Adam Fritz both point out:
    SDA protects Subjects 6, 7, and 2.
    1665 – 993 = 672 (Mr. Blackwolf's phone number at BCU was partially overheard by Laura Blackwolf as 166-5993).
    In order to be cloned, a person must be less than 67.2 years old.

Adam Fritz reveals:
    The Bureau considers 672 to be a magic number.
    672 is the international calling code for Antarctica.

Julia Blackwolf says:
    672 is part of Laura's phone number.
    6 is tattooed on Jenna Sweet and she likes a guy she calls 7.
    672 was scratched on Julia's computer above a blinking light. The blinking light turns out to be a surveillance/explosive device from the Bureau.
    Julia's cousin, Ruby Sweet, was born on June 7, 2002 (note: I'm assuming Julia writes her dates American style with the month first, otherwise, the date would be July 6, 2002.)

And 22 gave Arsenic a long list of 672 trivia:
    Project Fatemaker ended on June 7, 2005 at which time SDA rescued four subjects and the rest were killed (well, except for that rumored fifth survivor).
    Donny Detraux, the conspiracy theorist and journalist, was born on July 6, 1982.
    De Bestellingsverzameling was founded on the July 6, 1982 in Amsterdam.
    De Bestellingsverzameling worships 672.
    Gary Venables changed the name of his cult from Bright Resolution to Bright Awakening on July 6, 2000.
    Bright Awakening worships 672.
    The logo for Bright Resolution was in the shape of a BR that also resembled the numbers 672.
    Lazarus Mihail, supposedly dead, seen in Paris on July 26, 2005.
    Adam Fritz sabotaged SDA's blog one day before July 26, 2005, a date chosen for "personal reasons."
    22's Bureau agent card records him as 516111 = 5+1 6+1 1+1 = 6 7 2
    At least ten Bureau cars have 672 in their plate numbers.

 		The normal Bureau site won't load for me, so I went digging around. I checked out the source for SDA's old blog and found what seems to be the Bureau's site, only not.

This is would be very harmful.

I am made aware that a number of you might know of an Adam Fritz, who

four bullets in my head with a Colt Anaconda. He is clearly, as you may
already have speculated, a man not to be trusted. His work is
mysterious and
shadowy, dealing with deceits always.

Some of you might know of an organization known as the Bureau of
Technicalities. This Project Fatemaker of theirs has spawned a teenage
duplicate of me that failed. There remains five Subjects at large, and
the
endless debate goes on whether the Bureau should kill them or not.

I am physically blind and it is very difficult for me to type this out,
if
not for the intelligence-enhancing properties of the item Snake that I
am
currently using.

 		maybe not, have you seen the [CofB][Interactions Thread]? The recent Lazarus email was posted there and you may have missed it. That being said, I replied to the email you posted (I receive it, too), Lazarus mailed back, and I'm going to put his reply here.

The email I sent was long, so instead of posting the whole thing, I'll just give you the highlights. I said I was happy he was safe, but sorry to hear he was blind. I asked a lot of questions about the identity of the rumored fifth surviving subject, whom I dubbed Subject X. I also asked some more questions, which were ignored.

Here is Lazarus' response:

Although Adam Fritz seems to be a lot older than the other teenage subjects we know about, he best fits the description of Subject X provided by Lazarus. We know Adam has a tattoo on his shoulder (shades of Jenna Sweet's 6 tattoo) and he has a personal vendetta against the other subjects.
I was surprised to find out Lazarus is a member of De Bestellingsverzameling. He previously seemed to be a free agent, like SDA, working against the Bureau, but not working for any particular faction.


I also heard back from SDA. I asked him a ton of questions as well, some of which were answered. Here are some of the questions I asked:

member of the Corcoran family were you referring when you said out of
Tho, Corcoran, Venables and Mihail, only one person associated with
Project Fatemaker survived? To refresh your memory, I found this
reference in filedumpb.

subject of the Phase One 12 in there.

still alive. Someone has managed to kill all the rest.

Oh, and about DB - Jennifer Blackwolf's website appears to be a
wonderful resource to find out about it, if only you know how and
where to look.

has any onefound anything on the login page of senator blackwolfs page. it gives you an error screen but its not real. i cant figure out how to get any further. and at the bottom in white text it says:

Why are you here, when you clearly shouldn't?" Jennifer Blackwolf says to you, curious. She places one hand on the silent alarm to call for security, but chooses not to. She offers you a smile. "You really shouldn't be here. This is a perfectly secure Senate Taskforce fileserver that you're not authorized to enter." She turns away, and you decide there is nothing left to see here. You walk out of the door, and head back, knowing that you were so close to identifying a secret you would love to one day solve.

and last how did you find the taskforce page, arsenic? i seem to have worked myself quite nicely into a corner.

Bterminal3 is so laughable that it doesn't matter.

 		Don't give up now, we need you! That means all of you! Keep digging! We must conclude this successfully!

OK, so this is my first ARG and I'm overly enthusiastic. And sincere.

Lewis the Second, I checked out the new page you guided us toward, and found an explanation of Snake, the piece of equipment that is allowing Lazarus to talk to us. In brief, Snake is a serum that permits humans to use 21% of their mental capacity, as opposed to the dismal, usual 2-5%. De Bestellingsverzameling has stolen the serum from the Bureau for plans unknown, but I can guess. Lazarus Mihail, now revealed as a member of De Bestellingsverzameling, is using the serum, which causes lowered immune response, blindness, and death in lesser mortals. The Bureau voted against using it on human subjects as it was too dangerous, but I quote from the secret Bureau page:

There is only one specific human Snake will work on. The increase to 21% can only happen to this person. The harmful side effects will not occur to this person. Our tests do not denote who this person is, except for one thing - that person is alive among us. He or she is living on Earth, alive right now.


Strangely, Lazarus is blind. So who is the person who can use the serum without repercussions? I thought Lazarus used the serum, which dates from 1672, as the means to keep himself alive and practically immortal for all these years. However, now he's talking about Snake and mentioning blindness. Puzzling.

The twins have updated their blog a couple of times, too. Juliana Thorne Blackwolf invites us to interact with her via MSN (jul1ana_matos[at]hotmail.com). I don't engage in im's via MSN, and I hope someone else does.

SDA has updated his unsabotaged blog (http://thesixtinechapel.blogspot.com) as well. The link is to Adam Fritz's taunting flash file which replaced the original SDA blog. What are we missing here? The variables we do not know?

That's the latest update. At this point, I'm going to attempt to gather up the information we've recently acquired and add it to the wiki, at which I'm totally lost and hoping to muddle through the technical side. As far as puzzles, either we've hit a dead end or there are no more to figure out. There still is the background from Adam Fritz's profile (http://bterminal3.t35.com/account1011.html), which may or may not lead anywhere. If it does, I don't see it. We've never seen postcard001.jpg (the Blackwolf postcard series starts at postcard002.jpg), nor have we gotten anywhere through Monigue Claret's calling card, with the magic number 672. Well, I say we. I mean me based on what I've read from this forum.

This may be a bit OOG, but I'd hate to see this ARG die. I've found it engaging. I wish there were more puzzles to solve, or lacking that, I wish we'd be pointed in the direction of puzzles we have not solved, even if it means retreading old ground. I cannot find the use for the magic number 672. I jump at possible clues, such as Julia and Laura talking about mistakes made from their names and their mother's name, and try to find Senator Jennifer Blackwolf anagrams to no avail.

Barring actual unsolved puzzles, I'll stick to sifting through the names and alliances we've already been given. I'd like to be up to date with the puzzles and information, rather than be handed a brand new puzzle. At this point, I feel like we have missed something in the narrative rather than missed a hidden clue. So I'll review the narrative, and learn how to do a bit of light wiki programming, which I need to learn, in any case.

That being said, don't expect immediate updates. It could take me a bit, and I'm also gearing up for the next semester. Thanks for reading my words.

 		My guesses:

672 - this is part of the storyline arc (Bureau, De Bestellingzaling, Snake) I think...

Monique - I have no idea, but there was supposed to be a 'new postcard' but either it's not out yet, or it's hidden somewhere.

Senatorial Taskforce - seems like the story's taking a turn here, with Sen. Blackwolf and all vs DB.

Snake - I have an odd hunch that this is very closely related to Project Fatemaker... or Project Antediluvian

Bureau - Well, Mr Blackwolf's mom was once tapped to be a Bureau scientist, right? Maybe this has some meaning...

Jennifer Blackwolf's website - doesn't work in Firefox, so I'd use IE, and it seems like there's going to be updates on it.

SDA - I noticed that there's no wiki post on him... but his new blog entry says bterminal3/thebalanceoftheequation/... I think it's the new website, bterminal4?

Well, I don't think the game's dead or dying, maybe we need to backtrack, or there might be a major new update soon. Keep the fingers crossed, I guess

Illegally Teacups, you were right. I was premature in speculating we had reached an impasse. We have fresh leads, albeit, I have done nothing with them.

I still have not updated the wiki, due to unforeseen events. I'll try to get to that soon, if circumstances permit. I need to install the dreaded Internet Explorer to access the Senator Blackwell website, too.

EDIT: Rather than double post, I'll edit in an update.

Julia and Laura's blog mentions Senator Jennifer Blackwolf's website is being put into compliance with Firefox:

 		Is this apparent puzzle solved yet? The one at http://bterminal3.t35.com/thebalanceoftheequation ? I used to lurk around this game but personal matters kept me from actually following it through its paces...

I don't know half the questions, so I'm just asking if anybody did know. I'm still trying to read more on this at the wikispace. Also seems like the going's been slow... no updates recently?

 		As far as I know, that puzzle has not been followed up on yet, at least not by me. I'm going to look at it now.

I see that Illegally Teacups already added a factions page to the wiki, for which I am grateful. I've added a few notes to the already established framework.
