[Trailhead?] The Da Vinci Code

Ok, so here's the scoop...

I went to see Star Wars Episode III, and of course had to sit through the preview trailers (almost as long as the movie itself, this time)...
when what to my wondering ARGish eyes should appear, the trailer for the Da Vinci Code. Now, knowing that the Da Vinci Code is all about what makes ARGs so great, my puzzle-minded eyes coursed over the content of the trailer for signs of hidden-clue-type-things...

Well, I wrote it all out, but I set up a page listing out everything I found... here's a quick sample below of what I've tried to make clear from the trailer...

More detail about my findings here

couldn't find any other person who noticed it on the net, let alone here at UF, so hopefully this isn't a red herring, and is actually a trailhead for a Da Vinci Code ARG...

I wish I could see the full screen trailer...

It looks interesting...It would be funny if they hidden an ARG in this movie since this is about codes hidden in famous paintings (not read the book...so if I am wrong don't kill me.)

well it seems like the perfect movie genre for an ARG... has anyone else seen the trailer in theatres? Maybe someone who's going to see star wars, or maybe any other movie, can take a digital camera with a good zoom along to capture that line disappearing at the end, see if there's any more that can be seen?

I can't let this one slip through the cracks without knowing whether or not there is actually something to see on that line...! Confused

I haven't read the book or seen the trailer myself, but might it be just a line from the book?

Well Bruce it looks instead of send to be "Lead you on further" The first three words I can't understand worth a hell. This would totally make me happy, cuz I freaking loved the book.

When I first looked at the line, the first word looked like "hitherto". I did a search for that word in various bible passages, and came up with this:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further..." Job 38:11

Looks like it fits, but don't know what (if anything) it means.

EDIT: Threw in a spoiler in case someone wanted to figure it out for themselves.

The bible passage is integral in the story. come to think of it, the entire story plays like an ARG. Am hoping they get on the ball here, it would be too delicious to pass up...

I'm leaning towards that, yes.

*prays to the ARG gods that this is a trailhead*

From the site's load screen:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Uncover the secret codes embedded in the Da Vinci Code experience.

Very Happy

Oh, I KNEW there was a reason they were letting us go through the opening vid frame by frame. This poor person seems to have gotten some math in their hair. And I seriously doubt this is the only instance of something like this in the vid.

(And I was right! There's more numbers under the Vitruvian Man's right armpit. The Fibbonacci sequence, to be exact. Doubtless there are others, but it's already very, very late for me.)

UGH! If that code leads right back into the Da Vinco experience, thats not an ARG but a cute little time waster. Am hoping they would have expanded it into a fuller game....

Guys, the DaVinci code had SEVERAL argish qualities, even as a book.
Sure, there was the online mini game that bordered on an ARG. But there was also hidden messages ALL OVER the place in the book-- even in the plost summary in the jacket cover, bold letters spelled out a secret code, coordinates were hidden on the spine...
As far as it goes, I htink there will be plenty of fascinating stuff in the trailer. And maybe Dan Brown will even go so far as to make an ARG............ but it might be a lot of red herrings. Here's hoping! Wink

Hmm. Loved the concept of The Da Vinci Code; hated the execution (do your bloody research, for crying out loud!).

An ARG could totally redeem it for me. Very Happy
