[PUZZLE] Eclipse Security Login
Thread intro from GuyP:
A kloo gives us the login to one of the passworded Salk files (http://salkfamily.com/iwalkalittlefaster/ pietro/julianblooms) leading us to the following:
Quote:
Date: 11 June 2005 11.52pm
From: The Advisor
To: Pietro Salk
Subject: Increased security
I don't know why I'm telling you this except, I suppose, maybe the information could save your life. I have a backdoor hack into the Eclipse Security heat sensor system for the few floors around my apartment, as well as server room 4. Just in case. Just to see what's going on. Just to make sure I know who's here. Anyway. If you need it, it's there. You'll find it via the usual AP site, and the username and password should be obvious. Just in case.
trout me if im wrong but...

gives you a login box, to login to ascendancy point

You might want to stick a .com in there, but you're right. Also, when you try to go to the excerpt that the Advisor made, the login box also says Eclipse Security System

You're right (add a .com though).
So this might tell us who might have got to Pietro/ Where the Advisor lived/s and what her identity could be.
So... what could be obvious about the passwords?
Anyone tried everything? I think I've tried everything that might be obvious from what we already know, so perhaps we need to be patient...
EXCITED...

Or rather they're all coming back up slowly. Sentinel, Violet, Scarlett and Kurt are still down

im grasping at straws here but this is like a crosswords solver's dream...

straw-grasping speculations... the username and password should be obvious= the user and password are both "obvious". result= didnt work
BUT WAIT there is still one more idea for you crossword lovers: the user and password should be obvious just in case, could this mean the password feres to a case concerning someone called justin? (user= justin, password= case didnt work either :'(...)

Pure genius! Too bad it didn't work.
Has anyone gone through all the log files and related stuff to try possible passwords? Right now, we have "where S and I met" and The Advisor's "obvious" password (which is supposed to be obvious to Pietro, right?) We have a corpus of information to use including: the logs, the maze program's quotes that led to the logs, the maze program itself, the Salk family site, Salk's articles in The Sentinel. Anything else?

"Just in case" as a play on words... caJUSTse or something where a different word is used for just and case.... fair trial?
And to the Mods: Can the Eclipse Security login puzzle be moved to it's own thread, please. Thank you.

Just tried Justine as the user name (and Justine_Case) with a password "obvious" heh... didn't work tho.
bugger.
*edit-y* and I had one of those loud-gasp-at-work-causing-people-to-inquire-about-your-well-being moments when I re-read ..."username and password should be obvious, causing me to try obvious for both. no such luck. *editong*

This may just be me, but login names and passwords are normally related to the holder.
"The Advisor" says that he has a backdoor - so the username and password could in some way be related to him?

If the password is related to him, maybe it has something to with his life? that's what i read about in a security book once. Most people use really simple stuff like their girlfriends name or a favorite place or food or team... haven't had time to read through all the Salk logs tho so haven't tried anything yet.
