Okay, after pulling out more than 40 different pictures under image1, I have come to the conculsion that at least some of them overlap with image2. It makes sense that there is just overall set of pictures, and the flash just randomly pulls out 2 upon refresh. So look for the thumbnail page to change accordingly as I get around to it.

It should be easy to pull all the images from a flash app, you can decompile them with freebie software and export everything out of it. I'll see if I have one when I get home tonight.

It would be if the files were actually located inside the flash - which they're not. Basically (from what I understand as I haven't decompiled it myself) what happens is that the flash calls out to different urls which in turn randomly loads the elements into the flash.

http://www.virgilkingofcode.com/darkplace/bg.jpg
http://www.virgilkingofcode.com/darkplace/image1.jpg or http://www.virgilkingofcode.com/darkplace/image2.jpg
http://www.virgilkingofcode.com/darkplace/audio.mp3

You can go to each of those urls and start refreshing to see the different base files that the flash uses. The only problem is, they load randomly (and it also appears that it may be on a timer, since you can't just keep hitting refresh and get new files).

Right now, it appears that I've gotten close to a full set of image files, based on the fact that I've been getting more repeats then new files in my refreshes now. I'll keep looking for a while longer, then turn my attention towards the mp3s to make sure we've gotten them all.

ideas?

thanks for all the hard work that went into finding the images and mp3s. I've looked and listened and looked and listened and I get nothing out of this so far. ideas?

What about the other images, the ones like the leaves falling and the insect and the watch face and buzz saw? Is there a way to look at them seperately from the background? And do we think these are very specific audio/visual combinations or are the actual audio and the visual random?

1) those are inside the flash .swf -- i can extract them tonight
2) so, yes, you can see them apart from the background. They are basically used as stencils, so they have little texture of their own.
3) no specific combinations go with the images. There are 6 or 7 basic patterns or sequences of sprites, and the images load randomly behind them, as do the audio files, from what I can tell.
4) to qualify the above statement, let me just say that it is a subroutine which loads the elements, based on a random number function. However, the subroutine might be choosing a predefined combination based on the first random element, but I cannot be certain.
