Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://suzeejones.com

It goes back as far as June -04. I haven't had time to read much yet, but there is probrably something there.

Hmmm you brought up a lot of good points there, Phaedra. There seems to be two different ways that players can interact with a game-- follow along, or deliberately mess with whatever direction the game is going.
The ideal game will be able to stand up to such messing around. Whether it falls back on sheer number of players willing to play "properly" or if it goes beyond and allows the game to play a bit off course, a well planned game should be able to survive.

There are certainly many types of "interference" and much of it is either purposefully to hurt the game, or winds up hurting or inconveniencing it. But might there be room for positive interference? I suppose all this is better for a meta thread, but right now I'd like to see a game that could bend to different interpretations (I am in no way implying an opinion on your part either for or against this). I'm not saying that this will be the game, but perhaps a game could be designed where players are asked to work either for or against the desired outcome of the game.

All games that rely on reinforced "pretend" states have a sort of 8-second "rewind" button. If somebody messes with the reality proper and you let it go, then the game is ruined.
In other words: if someone says "I shot you!" and you say "Nuh uh!" then you are messing with the reality.
But if there are 20 other players who can see that it was an obvious screwup, everybody hits the 8-second reset button, and we all re-write the matrix. You just cant let it go for too long, iut has to be plainly obvious, immediately, in some way, that somebody broke the game, while we're still interpreting the reality of the situation, and theres a wink, and a nod, and we roll the train back onto the tracks and look the other way until we've passed the cow;)

NICE FIND Crea! I'm reading back on the ILB days, and I must say... I'm reminded of how I myself found the genre. This is indeed intruiging.
I'm reading now.

Perhaps Bees Aren't So Bad

I bit the bullet and asked Janna what she was talking about. She wrote down all the addresses for me. Apparently it's something called an ARG and it's like a giant web puzzle. It's actually pretty cool. Worth having to interact with another teenage female about, anyway. And it was Unfiction, not Unification - no wonder I couldn't find it. I've been reading posts there all day about the I Love Bees thing and the whole ARG concept. Lord help me, I might have found a hobby. Now whatever will I do with all my spare time?

I Don't Care Much for Bees, Myself

At work today I overheard this girl Janna talking about this thing she called I Love Bees and she was all pissed off that she was stuck working when all the audio files were unlocked. I'm not sure what it's all about... there's some weird website with all this crap all over the front of it, and some discussion about it on a board called Unification. I'm going to have to learn how to eavesdrop more effectively.

Happy thanksgiving!

Happy thanksgiving everyone. Nonnie and Bop are on the way over for supper right now. I have a lot to be thankful for. ILB totally changed my life around. It taught me that there is more to living than just going through the motions, and it has really inspired me to make a better life for myself. I'm also thankful that I was blessed with my quick brain and the ability to use it. Examples soon.

All Publicity is Good

Oh my gosh, dare I say that post brought out commenters like a swarm of angry... bees? Apparently it's illegal to have an opinion these days. Hehe.

Much talk of Bees.

Even worse is the talk of ARGtalk... and whatever it is shes planning to do to it. Looks like she had planned SOMETHING for the night of the talk show. Check it out:
Quote:
The site's all primed and waiting to go. ARGTalk's never going to know what hit it. Neither is the audience!!

and
Quote:
Ok, months of planning.. did they pay off? There's buzz built, there's an audience, there's a plan. I'm so nervous! I'm also worried about scheduling that day. Leave it to Mom to pick that night for me to visit Grammy for dinner.

I'm the little engine who could. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. I know I can. Wish me luck! Or wish me a broken leg!

but THIS seals that she was planning to do soemthing in front of a radio audience:
Quote:
The date is set, my fate is sealed. I hope I'm strong enough to pull this off. I've never even performed or anything before. At least my audience won't be sitting right in front of me staring at me.

EDIT I'm also a bit wary of this "CG" she hooked up with. Let's email ARGTalk... this could be some of the info he wanted. Unless he's CG or soemthing.

She's still posting about being creeped out by those weird messages that keep appearing at ARGtalk (which I STILL haven't seen PLEASE help?)

So it seems there is A) The generic ARGtalk site, just used as an ARG tracker/commentary
B) A PM that is sending them weird stuff
and
C) Suzee's plans to do something that night.

There is also
D) CG, the college age guy that hooked up with Suzee but then turned weird on her.

So, Suzee discoveres ARGs.
Somehow, she finds that Bees changed her life(man, so much 42 stuff going on. You guys sure you dont want to put money down with me on this one?)

And she gets a plan together. I say, dear suzee decided to be a rogue PM. Now, was the kidnapping part of the plan? Or is it the perfect crime, to kidnap somebody who was going to be weird and drop a bomb on people in the ARG world, to have them assume it was all in fun?

Is it Wiki time?

I think the real question is, is Suzee working with the rest of ARGtalk, or were they not made aware of her plans? This line:

makes me wonder...

Consider: Suzee wants to make a splash, so she's not going to work WITH ARGtalk, she's gonna pull the wool over their eyes too.
But she's gonna make a big splash, she she doesnt tell ANYBODY.
Nobody knows what was supposed to happen but her.

Or maybe not?

I have sent the following email to ARGtalk:
Quote:
I'm not too sure what all is going on around here, but it does seem that we have uncovered suzee's blog. She makes repeated mentions of the big night, and something that 'ARGtalk will never see coming'. It also seems that she was increasingly nervous, both about her big night(friday), and some creepy guy. What is up with this creepy guy? I'm new to this ordeal, and I havent got a grip on everything.

You say you are not gaming us....could Suzee be gaming you?

My best,
James.
