[SOLVED] ktg files and SD 7

I was looking at the binary string in ktg03.text

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
when converted to ascii gives ‚Ë1Ð

edit: changed topic title a little - rowan

Yep, I think the prevailing theory is that eventually, the binary in ktg01, 02, 03, and the subsequent ktg files, will decode to something when taken as a whole. I'm not sure if any patterns are developing yet when 03 is combined with 01 and 02 though... might have to wait for another few SD cards or until we get them all.

That is similar to what happens with the other two ktg files. It's been thought that there may be 8 of them in the end, then when stacked each colum read down would be one ascii char... don't know if that's going to be it, but that's one thought.

We now have 5 ktg files. I think we should have had 6 but we've got 5 so that's what i'm working with.

Code:

0110001001010011110010100011000001100110 ktg01
1011001010110000101100111100000011000001 ktg02
1100001010000010110010110011000111010000 ktg03
0101010000000010110001110100000011000001 ktg04
0000100101010100001111001000111011010110 ktg05

If we take this and split out the colums we have 40 5 bit words. There seem to be a few different 5 bit encoding schemes centered around telegraphs. I used the teletype code and got the following decode:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

01100 I
10110 F
11000 A
01010 R
00001 T
00010 CR

SD 6?

Just a point:
Nisha incorrectly alludes to SD6 when she asks for help on card SD5.
Quote:
There are still several unopened files on SD card 6, and I'm hoping

Might be mistake or foreshadowing.

Since these could be divided into 5 bit strings evenly, I tried converting them to a bacon cipher, but didn't come up with anything.

so it looks like there will be a 6th sd card after all. I guess we wait for that one to try another decode.

just the first thing that comes to mind:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"Looking Back Subjectively" could refer to subject lines of old emails. Look at them backwards, taking the last letter of each? No idea how the numbers would index into words...

and i'll bet people are in chat already past this thought!

Yep! I just solved it!!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Looking back subjectively means just that - go back to the previous SD cards and look at the subjects.

The numbers tell you what card you want, what journal, and what letter of the subject. For example "2a1" means you want the 2nd SD card, the 1st (a) journal, and the 1st letter.

2a1, Monday – Cold as Hell

4b20, Wednesday – 36 Sales in 10 Hours and 2 to Go!

1b9, Tuesday – Traveling Sucks

6b2, Haven't Updated Since August

3d8, Peace at Last

2b9, Tuesday – A Clever Chess Player

5a2, Monday – Does This Ever End?

1a1, Monday – Starting another Week on the Road

5b11, Tuesday – Stop, Start, Stop, Start, What a Day!

6a6, Tuesday - Roger in Nurnberg

3a1, Sick

4c18 The Travel Never Ends

This gives us: m0ralcompass which is the password for insurance.zip

Too bad the picture isn't of the person we thought was Arclight. It's another piece of that building picture.

Actually there is a picture of a person. Look at the reflection in the glass ball where a hidden camera would be. Is that Virgil?
