[TRAILHEAD?] Phone number in War of the Worlds movie There is a scene in the movie "War of the Worlds" where a girl is walking in front of a horse. On the horse, a phone number is painted in white paint on its side. I was able to make out all but one of the numbers:
09-553-9603
I looked up all possible area codes, and called each one. Here were my results:
209 - Stockton, CA - fax machine
309 - Peoria, Illinois - fast busy
409 - Port Arthur, Galveston, TX - 1 ring - "The PCS telephone number you have dialed is
temporarily not in service"
509 - Spokane, WA - 2 ring - "number or code dialed is incorrect"
609 - Trenton, NJ "You have reached mailbox number 6095539603. Please leave your message
after the tone."
709 - Newfoundland, Canada - 1 ring - "We're sorry, the number dialed is not in service."
809 - Dominican Republic - 3 rings - "The number you have reached has been disconnected at this moment."
909 - San Bernadino/Riverside, CA - one ring, woman's voice: "Leave your number and name at the time you called and I'll call you back"

You actually managed to make it out? Wow.
If this is a trailhead it out to be good.

Curious...
In the novel, the first craft landing took place in a farm Outside of Trenton, NJ
Assuming the Movie keeps the setting somewhat truthfull to it's origins... I'd give the token to that one...

I am right now.
"Hello, my Name is Chuck. If you would be so kind as to return my call at area code XXX-XXX-XXXX, at your earliest convience, it would be very much appreciated. Have a nice day"
Just enough to get a responce, and not insinuate it's a game... just in case it isn't, but more importantly if it is....

I am 100% sure I could not see the first number of the area code.
But there's only 8 possible combinations. 6 of them were disconnected, one had a woman's voice, and one was a generic voice mail box.
So if it's something, it's going to be one of those two.

I saw WotW yesterday, and it would be so cool if this was a trailhead. What a way to launch!

We're all assuming this is a phone number, right?
I mean, I don't know, that would be what makes the most sense in the context of the storyline, but still.

When you see it, it definitely is a phone number. It's formatted:
XXX-XXX-XXXX
You just can't see the first number in it because the camera never pans over to it. But from that there are only 8 combinations it could be.
