[Mission] Retrieve Data Card from XXXXXXX

Creating a new topic now, for organisational purposes, post here if you got an email to retrieve a data card from xxxx.

Operator wrote:
Operative xxxxxxxx:

Critical data has fallen into the hands of a former associate of Mr. Sloane's. It is stored on a small, portable datacard and must be securely retrieved. We have sent an agent to infiltrate and conduct surveillance on this associate for the purpose of retrieving the data. Her codename is xxxxx. Unfortunately, we have lost contact with this operative. She has missed two scheduled rendezvous so far.

In the event she finds herself unable to make contact through direct channels, she will attempt to establish an alternate communications channel by posting a personal message online at friendster.com as xxxx. She will expect initial contact to contain the phrase, "xxxxx." Your mission is to make contact with her and retrieve the datacard. Entering the passphrase from her response on the Omnifam message retrieval system will help you confirm you've made contact with her and that she has not been compromised.

Recovery of this datacard is of the utmost importance to Omnifam. Do not fail in this mission.

Message ID: xxxxx
Classification: Confidential

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
At Friendster, there's a profile for a Cindy Smith from the Netherlands. She says she likes fairy tales (codename cinderella).

If you email her with "warm summer days" you get this:

Quote:
You finally found me!
I have something important to give you, but I need something as a show
of faith. Send me a current picture of yourself. To prove it is
current, hold your
fingers in a sideways V with one finger each above and below your eye.
I also need your callsign so I can recognize future messages.
Please hurry, I don't know how much longer I can sit on this.

Go to Omnifam and enter the codename in the message retrieval thing

I sent her my pic, but I blurred most of it except my eye and fingers, I don't feel too good about sending a pic over the internet. I haven't gotten a reply yet.

Did you notice? 97.4%

On a side note, I sent a message to a DIFFERENT person on Friendster, who I mistakenly thought was the right one. I sent a message with the code, and got this short message back...

Quote:
Arizona definitely has hot summers...actually, right
now it's getting VERY HOT for me too...

I'm thinking "VERY HOT" is my confirmation. LOL That cracked me up when I found out this is some poor unsuspecting woman. Smile Or, uhh, is she coming on to me?!? (Hehe, just kidding)

I sent out a photo. The reply she sent back was "Confirmed" for the subject. There was no text in the e-mail, but she did attach my picture back. I was thinking it might be stegged but I'm not sure. I think something was done with the pic, but I'm not sure. I can't fully look into it without my PC (not home at the moment). Anyhow, just thought I'd fill people in.

[EDIT] Oh, and about the callsign, I'm not sure about that. I figured it just meant "codename" or something. Maybe I got that bit wrong.

Hmm, on other boards EVERYONE is posting that their picture was smaller (in dimensions AND megs. in some cases). The picture must have been editted, so the next step must be hidden in the pic...

humm something´s wrong

so fellows, something happened to me.. I´ve emailed "Cindy Smith" on friendster, and got this reply:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Generally I love warm summer days. But
sadly things have been TOO HOT these past few
days. Hopefully we can think of something to maybe
lessen the heat for me?

<0>

Did you notice the signature?

Then I replied, and have just received this:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Yeah, for the next few hours that may be the plan.
Right now I'm in the library in Venice and I have to
get my glass slipper out of a box in the community
national bank...sadly, my wicked stepmother and
stepsisters are blocking my path.

What´s going on? She´s cleary making references to Cinderella...

Perhaps she´s another agent or something else?

By the way, I´ve sent my photo to the other Cindy as well..

Re: humm something´s wrong

I think she's tricking us... I sent Operator an email telling them about the Cindy Smith from Salt Lake, and they told me to avoid further contact. She may be pulling our legs... be careful.

I've been in communication with Cindy Smith and it seems like she's legit. I've asked her to confirm her identification by giving her a passphrase to use to reply to me with her email. I've also emailed the Operator to confirm. Supposedly, people are sending their pictures to the wrong person and they might be posted on other websites. My advice: Don't send your picture until someone can confirm which Cindy Smith is the real one.

The one from the Netherlands is the right one, right? I mean, the lostashoe gmail address on omnifam.org seems like a pretty surefire confirmation to me. ... I hope.

Though I wish she would email me back. =\ I still haven't gotten the rest of the mission (the send-me-a-picture part). Confused

In my return Image, I ran xsteg, and under a sensitivity of 4.7 I found that there was an image put in the picture using Jphide. Now I have never done these image decryption things but I am having a problem uncovering the image. I used jpseek, and when I finally worked out what I thought the password was, it gave me a document This has led me even deeper. I will inform you that this is the way to go to continue the game. don't have to worry whether or not this cindy is in game or not.

Which Cindy are you talking about? Omnifam confirmed that Cindy Smith (lostashoeSPLATgmail.com , from the Netherlands) is 97.4% sure that it's the right one and that the other ones are being "neutralized." Which one have you been speaking to? Do you know what websites our pictures may have been posted on?

The Cindy I have talked with is the one with the black and white picture. The one that was confirmed with Omnifam. She is the one that we need to talk to in order to continue the game. Whether or not the other one is IG, i.e. an counter agent, or if she is just a fan who is messing with players I don't know. I felt secure enough to send her a picture, and it payed off. I am now moving on with the game.
