Yep, just sent her an email, here 'tis.

Quote:

Hello Helen,

I'm from a communtiy of people who generally just solve puzzles and
games, etc. One person was sent a letter from someone calling himself
'the carer'. This letter basically outlined that 'the carer' knows
where your daughter and six other missing people from the UK are. We
don't know if this person is the kidnapper or just playing a game with
us, but I think it is best that we do as he says. This person has a
website, thecarer.0nyx.com. On here is a picture with the name
'freewebs_findamanda'. This led me to your website. We don't know what
this person wants, but he led me here, so I think he wanted me to
contact you. We're working together to find your daughter. If you know
anything which you haven't posted on your website which you are
comfortable sharing, then please tell us. I'm sure other people will
be in contact, they will probably be from the same community.

Thomas.

Be kind and caring (pun not intended) with her.

An E-mail

I got a responce from "carer", but it doesn't say anything other then "someone has a blog", which we already know about.

Quote:
Ah, it's nice to receive an email from time to time.

I could probably find links. You probably can too, in time. Truth is, the families - the majority of them, anyway - have asked for some privacy over the matter. You can't blame them, really. Do you have a family, Mr. XXXXX? Can you imagine the pain one must go through when they don't even know where to begin looking for their lost loved one?
It hits you hard.

Of course, all seven - if the do actually return to their families - will return better people for their, um, vacation.

There is one woman who has launched a bit of a campaign. It's a rather pathetic excuse for one, I have to say, but it's a campaign nonetheless. She's hosted at one of the free website building things... I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with names, but I think it's one of the more popular ones. She's looking for Amanda Pranciskis. I hope this has been of some help to you.

All the best,
-the carer

However, the last line of the article on Mrs. Aldermans' blog mentions something about "finding their young talented relative". So, I've e-mailed Mrs. Alderman to try and figure out what that "talent" is exactly. Maybe that's the connection?

Has anyone had a look at the scanned newspaper article on Helen's blog yet?

I'd bet money on a transparent image or text hidden in the blackened part. Perhaps Helen was aware of the Carer's presence and chose to hide the message to us in the image.

Could someone wth Photoshop please search the blacked out part, try inserting colour fills or separating the layers.

There's nothing *physically* hidden in the pic, like very slightly different shades etc. Could be stegged though.

If you're sure, I suppose we'll have to lok at the image at face value.
Opened in a text editor, ther's a block of aligned text at the bottom, repeated nonsense usin non-standard characters. Any ideas? Or just because of the black block at the bottom? Probably nothing...

That's the black stuff, yeah. Heheh.

I think, for now, we're best off waiting for the emails back.

I'm sorry but I don't know the location of your Daughter however I

you in anyway possible.

I sent the carer an email which asked how he/she knows the location of the kidnapped people. The response:

Quote:

"May I ask how you know this?"

Because I can see all seven of them right now.

All the best,
-the carer

My reply:

Quote:

Did you kidnap them? Or are you a benevolent observer?

Thomas.

Very dramatic, heheh. Waiting for a reply from Helen.

EDIT- Continuing the conversation-

Quote:

A bit of both, a bit of neither.

The truth will come out, I'm sure.

Quote:

I'm sure it will, but we don't have much to go on at the moment. You
hold the cards here, perhaps it's time to play one?

Thomas.

Oooh err.

Embarassed

Just asked Helen for the remaining article text, Amanda's talent, the origin of the photo, etc, and generally introduced myself. I know someone else already did this, but no reply was posted and I'm an impatient bugger Wink

Remember everyone, be extremely sensitive with her, and assure her all the way, and she'll be helpful in return.

Has anyone mentioned that 'the carer' = 'trace her'?

I looked up 'carer' on msn search. I guess in the UK its refered to a person caring for someone thats disabled or elderly, without them officially being a nurse of doctor. http://www.birminghamcarers.org.uk/main/what.shtml
not sure what he means by his name being 'the carer' but thought this was interesting.

I just jumped back into the genre after a long hiatus after playing the travesty Majestic. This one should serve as a good intro for me.

Happy Hunting guys.

Ok here is my disscussion with "The Carer"
My Message
Quote:
Hello Carer,
I'm with a group of people who are going to work to solve your little
games and find these missing people. Now I don't know why you have
taken them and I don't really care, all I want is to see these people
come back home safely.
Thomas Jones

It's response

Quote:
Ah, you assume I've taken them. Interesting thought-train...

Please, I beg you, don't be looking down the obvious route all the
time. That's not how the world works. I said I know where these
people are, not that I kidnapped them.

All the best,
-the carer

All the best, huh, funny little guy we got here.

Edit: The find amanda site has an update.
From the updates page
Quote:
Wow
Thank you all so much from your overwhelming response. I'm sorry, I've not had time to reply to each individual email as yet, but I promise I will as soon as I get the chance to properly sit down. I'll keep the site updated too. Some of the emails are a little unsettling, but it's wonderful to know people care nonetheless.

Thank you so much.
