First off, the back story: A couple days ago I discovered ilovebees.com, and to make a long story short, I became very interested in the whole ARG thing. Unfortunatly for me, ilovebees was already over, so I've been searching for an interesting, active game that's not too far along in the story to, er, pop my ARG cherry, if you'll accept the term. Wink Point is, this one seems spiffy to the max so...hey!

Alright, I've found two things, but I highly doubt they are at all relevant. First off, just for kicks and giggles, I compared the picture of the eye on the carer site to the picture of Amanda on Helen Alderman's site. After much zooming and adjusting and tweaking I've come to the very obvious conclusion that they (duh) belong to the same person, Amanda. I also tried to zoom in on the eye picture enough so that you could see a reflection, of whatever was infront of her, in her eye (I saw that on CSI once!), but unfortunatly, those things only work on television.

Secondly...well, I must warn you, this is just a shot in the dark. I went through all the pictures in text format and something caught my eye. In the Amanda picture (from Alderman's site), right at the top, plain as day are the words 'Ducky' and 'Adobe'. I assume the latter is from photoshop, but Ducky? It jumped out at me because it was the only real word in the mass of gibberish.

Anyways, hope I can be of a little more help in the future!

thanks Pauloulou and welcome to the world of ARG Smile

well yeah the ducky thing is normal for photoshop images (it catches everyone out!), so thats a dead end, but at least we know that the eye is the same!

Noticing the picture of Amanda on the journal, I noticed a ring on her hand. This led me to notice the fact that the daughter and mother have different last names. Either Amanda is married (could be some sort of relationship to the kidnapping) or her mother was remarried. Just keeping that in mind. I've already shot off an email to the mother.

edit:

My relationship with Amanda stems no futher than me being able to see her right now, and my trying to help her. I am trying to help
everyone here. That is my job.

All the best,
-the carer

Quote:
Oh, no, she's not. Myself and my partner Daniil have never been married.
Amanda took her father's name.

i emailed Amandas mum asking about " Any new friends she met recently?"

reply:
Quote:
Funnily enough, I believe Amanda had recently started seeing a young man by
the name of Kyle... I honestly don't know if this is the same Kyle who is
also missing, though nothing would surprise me these days.

With his name being 'The Carer' and the definition of it as being a caretaker, my first thoughts was that this guy was more of a pawn than the mastermind. So I asked him. And this is what I got.

Quote:

I wouldn't say I'm the one responsible. Though I am a part of the
whole thing, yes. As for someone higher up... well, you can always
look higher, can't you?

All the best,
-the carer

I hate when people talk all cryptic like that. Very Happy

Sounds like someone with a divine mission if you ask me.

Like the people who wrap children in blankets until they suffocate in order to exorcise demons.

Nice creepy launch.

Cryptic messages are cool

In reply to my previous response from "The Carer" (see post on pg.2)
Quote:
So if you know where they are, and you didn't kidnap them, why don't
you just tell us where they are?

It's response
Quote:
Because then they wouldn't learn.

My reply
Quote:
What is it that they need to learn, and who is teaching the lesson?

SPEC: 7 missing

this suddenly sounds like a bit of "SE7EN" movie (the one with Morgan Freedman).. hmm.. as for 'the carer's role - I'm thinking previous spec sounds right "there's always someone higher" = divine (idealogy).

I'm busy on 2 other ARGs but I'll keep my eye out on this one to help out in btwn.

As for "Ducky", it just means it's been Adobe'd Wink

Hmm... I may just join in on this one.

(Heh, been a while, too. Last one I participated in was ILoveBees!)

Spec

It might be possible that 'the carer' is a "remote viewer", someone who can see a "target" without actually being there. That's my spec on the whole thing at this point in time.
