Alright, I'm sending this email to Violet to suggest she watches her back. I've tried to be as oblique as possible whilst still keeping her aware of the possible danger:
Quote:
Hey Violet,
I thought you might appreciate a heads up; while you're going through those old books be aware that what you might think of as myth and antiquated superstition may still be held in high regard by other people.
Clearly, given all the events since the loss of The Cube, something is amiss in Perplex City. There's a possibility that all this is connected, and if it is then it must be an individual or a group of people who're both powerful and well hidden. Possibly a group that's been around for a long time and been able, over the decades and even centuries, to reach positions of power and responsibility. And such long-established and secretive organisations tend to be the ones who get touchy about their superstitions.
What I'm trying to say is if you're looking through the books and researching for those of us on Earth, please watch your back just in case. And try not to bend the pages
Cheers
Seej

I can't help feeling that her mentioning the "old documents" is actually in response to our debate on whether we should ask her to see what Pietro checked out (remember all the hesitation as to whether they even had paper books, and whether Violet has access to them, and whether we should get her involved, etc.?). To me, it even seems to be a nudge of sorts to ask her help - "hey, I can do what you want - I have the means".
I do think, however, that especially in light of the whole going-behind-her-back-and-telling-Sente fiasco, we should let her know what the risks are. This time the risks are greater if she gets involved (I mean, Pietro is dead because he started digging around in this). That said, we would probably have to let her know at least something about Salk (why we are after those books, and why it could be dangerous for her, etc.) - as there is no guarantee that she can see his website. If it only exists on Earth net (I'm not sure it does, but if it doesn't, then chances are that whoever killed Pietro would already be highly alarmed - even if he/she/they can't solve the puzzle, they have to at least worry that someone can ), then she's at the whim of Kurt or someone else who can let her see it (the Salk website, that is). So, um, the fleeting point is that we should warn her that following Pietro's trail could be very dangerous for her. Plus, she already feels like she's being followed...
I'm not big on e-mailing characters (huh? interaction? feh ), but I'm certainly glad I can count on plenty of people who would do it - thanks, guys

You crazy fools! You keep talking about V, as if V is significant. V is just the dupe, the liason, the facilitator. Do you even begin to realise just how big the Conspiracy is? And just how old it is? Do you think V orchestrated the whole thing? Stealing the Cube is just one part of the master plan. Do you seriously think that a decent conspiracy really operates on the basis of four people doing dubious things together? Do you really imagine that the head of a huge conspiracy would go so far as to directly involve themselves in a heist operation with three other freelancers, none of whom could be entirely trusted not to blow the whistle on their identity, because they were all in solely for the money...
You need to get paranoid
If we caught V tomorrow, that wouldn't be the end of it. Trust me.

Or maybe it would. But I'd hope not.

Samey samey Yanka - I also thought of the library codes in this respect... perhaps now is the time (given that we can't collectively keep our loose lips from sinking ships) to ask for access?

I am very much for the softly softly approach but as i've said before - bit of a moot point now. Oh well nice knowing you Violet. Hmm how shall we word the message to Sente ....
Anyway I am going to ask her about Old Town. The place is allegedly cursed or at least bad luck and dates back a long time. Perhaps there will be a link to the symbol or even the society.

So then, is she
ignoring us cos of what happened last time?
ignoring us cos we're supposed to be playing with the cards at the mo?
a stiff in the Academy archive?
I'll give her until Monday then give her a poke...

She's just doing a Scarlett/Mind Candy in general. Most sites aren't updating at the mo in this game.

I will forgive them that...firstly things don't update at the weekends in general (got to give them some time off!), although things updated nicely when a good wack of the team were at E3 (not E4 Mikey, not E4). Personally I think that if there is a pause because of the cards it is a sensible thing to do. You don't want critical plot details lost because everyone's playing with the cards. I suspect things'll move along again when the dust settles a little (hopefully before the 22nd though...we'll be fully in card stride by then...I think there's likely to be a trickle of new players from Firebox as well, so MC are going to want to draw them in, but not overload them).
There must be an IG reason for a silence. So I'd say, put it down to the build up in dramatic tension, suspend your disbelief, and gird your loins for something exciting. (Unpleasant imagery there...I'm thinking too tight underwear).
There was plenty of momentum with the Salk stuff prior to card release, it would be daft to lose it. On the other hand...we ain't solved Salk's passwords yet, maybe it's our fault? Can't always be spoon fed.

It may be impressive, but it's not pandimensional (as far as I'm aware)
