UKver 2.0: maliciousness, trolling and xenophobia is not welcome here, and your post has been edited to reflect this. Please check the attitude at the door, or don't post at all. Thanks.

(edit: a typo, which "squeak", who is in fact UKver2.0 posting under a different screename, oh-so-correctly called me out on. congratulations!)

Oh, and its lo and behold.

You may want to read up on that beautiful language that we've bequeathed you.

"Commas," plural, does not require an apostrophe S.

It has now been showed that the two jokers in the real world version of this deck are quite different.

"Shown" not "showed". Please check your verb tense.

Given the fact that the company, MIND CANDY, wants this GAME CARD to be solved some day (and the little ribbing that they gave out when saying it shouldn't take a collaborative effort to solve this), I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the passphrase will be cake.

I've tried "cake." "Cake" is not the answer.

Screw with the little ARG'ers who can't distinguish reality for the little games they make? Ha... sad.

I don't quite get your meaning here, but I'm thinking you're intending to insult someone.

Let me give the dumb example so even you Britts can understand...

I think they spell it "Brits" not "Britts." If you're going to insult them on their English comprehension, please at least try to spell the English words correctly so they CAN understand it.

Let's give each suit a letter - A, B, C, D
Now let's give each card a value 1, 2, 3... J, Q, K
And why not call joker one "JA" and joker two "JB"

Here you actually start to make sense. Too bad you strayed from that moment of epiphatic greatness into the myriad of crap about mental poker.

When you do come back, please remember that this is a place of collaboration and teamwork. To come in and post something like this in an effort to spur people into solving the cipher for you is just, well, unfriendly.

If you're interested in actually helping rather than berating the people who have been trying for months now to solve this puzzle, then please, do so in a less abrasive manner. No one appreciates being told they are stupid, moronic, pantywaists, even if they are British (also, I will not tolerate countryism here, so you can stop with that whole rigamarole, too and maybe get rid of the burning flag avatar that is also not 100x100 pixels maximum, as per forum guidelines).

In your posts, please try to be more constructive rather than insulting.

I don't want to have to get all Administrative again. I find it tiring and really puts me in a poopy mood.

All true, but my post was an attempt to move things forward toward a solve by the path I think will get us there. The replies in response don't really help. Crap, now I gotta add something to THIS responce so I don't make the same mistake...

I'm thinking that if Garnet Reed and Von and the rest know their stuff and realise the difference between a code and a cipher then the 108 is probably encoded not encphered. Just a thought.

Well, Squeak, considering that your IP matches that of UKver2.0 that JUST posted moments ago (yes, I can see that), maybe you'd like to take a small break and stop posting before I get really mad.

Yeah, there's three of us here that make up UKver2.0. Our cubes make a little triangle... We're at work so you know - Same IP etc...

But seriously, I now have a huge reason to solve this before you (everyone else) and hopefully you guys do too.

okies I thought I would follow the last post by Loq before all the insanity started (that was while I was offline)

okies a few things Ive tried

I took the letters in the 108 and paired them, and then took the value of them under the possibility that they would add to the correct key values. while it looked likely it soon started to produce duplicates which spannered the idea and led to me quitting

I also keyed a deck as posted by Stratman (my deck has not arrived)

this did not work either. Normally when I key a deck its as follows:

Ace Clubs - King Clubs, Ace Diamonds - King Diamonds, Ace hearts - King hearts, ace spades - king spades joker a joker b

so i figured this was asign but again no luck.

I have tried to reverse the text removed the spaces and used the "hot letters" both as keys and double ciphers

I am truely lost as to what to do next.

I also noted earlier that someone said about the cluster of L's but it is worth noting that if you key a deck properly this will make no real difference as under a standard keyed deck the cipher text EEEEEEEE will read as AHUGWFMY when deciphered and EEEEE EEE will read AHUGWUMYA

anyway as the net is dying I will post now

You guys do acrually realise that the point of ARGs is that they intersect the real world all the time, right? the deck is going to be part of the puzzle.

Dunce

-----

So a lot's happened in the past few days... Jokers don't hold any clue as to the reason for the star... I guess the clue is the star itself? the number of points being relevant to the number of players, maybe?

Gods this is complex. We'll figure out that it's encoded in five different ways and you need to convert it to roman numerals, and it'll turn out to be a hoax anyway, claiming that sente was the gimp who programmed the world...

Why am I coming up with so many conspiracy theories lately? Confused

Just to reinforce what Stratman has posted. I have opened my pack now as per the card pic.

First thing i noticed was the light reflecting off the cellophane wrapper was whiting out parts of the pic. Checking against the card the gold strip is also feint in a couple of places. This leads me to believe that
a) the wrapping has been left on intentionally and
b) the faded bits on the card are where the camera flash has whited out the image.

No inner wrapping on the cards.

They come out of the face down box (as per ppx card pic), face down with the top card being turned over as the King of spades then falling down to Ace and repeating the order for Hearts - Clubs - Diamonds - Black Joker - Color Joker.

To sum up, if you remove the box from the PPX card. The deck is face (value) side down in the following order.

Code:
Spades -   K Q J T N E S S F F T T O
Hearts -   K Q J T N E S S F F T T O
Clubs -    K Q J T N E S S F F T T O
Diamonds - K Q J T N E S S F F T T O
Black JOKER
Colour JOKER

This all matches Stratman's post perfectly except opened face down.

How about matching the perplexcity cards with playing card suits on them to their position in which they appear first in the Motor Card deck, thus producing some form of numerical code to deal with. This would of course require wave 3 and 4, but it's a thought nonetheless.

I don't think its been posted but has anyone tried re-ordering (or shuffling) the results of the solitaire deciphered text (20 heat sensitive letters, the 108 not, or all 128)... using the standard pack order or any of the obvious passphrases. To look for anagrams or substitution ciphers etc [just occured to me and didn't want to leave without posting it - will give it a go tomorrow myself]

Also can anyone think of any 128-bit encryption thingies... (( def: thingies several (different) things\devices\techniques) - going on the total number of letters)

Just the thoughts to come out of my brain after reading this thread all day and having some wine and a slice of apple pie

There is one very, very important thing here: we have confirmation that a normal deck of this type has no star on the jokers. That has to be significant. Possibly a hint to the keyphrase or at least some distinction to the ordering (although the color alone would seem like enough...).

When I got an ordering before with the 108 letters, one thing I didn't try was assuming the deck had already been keyed. Could someone try doing that? (I'm at work currently)

I tried looking up stuff with jokers and stars but only got some funky anime series back. Maybe someone else will have better luck, if that is indeed a clue at all.

And on a side note Sad , please don't associate this American with UKver. While I love America a lot (to the point that I'm likely joining the military soon), I have great respect for the British and would never approve of your flag being burned. Even though we split off from you guys, you've been with us in the fray when it counts (WWI, WWII, Iraq). Thanks guys.
