[ivy set] #162 - Loopy Pixels

Signed by Aiko? (I can never remember/work it out).

Not much else to say, except the top arrow is labelled "2nd" and the left arrow is labelled "1st"

The map back reads:

Quote:
Zeller Planetarium

The Zeller Planetarium has been a solid attraction of Perplex City for more than twenty years, entertaining and educating generations of children and adults. Despite a recent crackdown on light pollution, the planetarium is still the best place to learn about the stars without leaving the city.

The Heliotrope

The newest competition to the attractions of east Dalia Way is the stunning Heliotrope. Designed by the MDC in conjunction with the Academy, ths flower-like building houses several levels of shops with elevators taking visitors up the filaments to airborne restaurants such as the Mezzo.

Well, I can't be sure without owning the card, but the border seems to have 4 colors- Orange, Yellow, Brown, Tan.

The colors WITHIN the borders are a bit more tricky because the scan seems to have muddled the colors a bit. But I think theres:

Red: 2 (?)
Blue: 2
Peach: 2
White: 10
Yellow: 10
Orange: 11
Tan: 11
Black: 37
Brown: 45

There might be 2 different shades of brown, but I can't tell.

The Tan and Orange edges are bracketing a 1x11 area,
while the Yellow and Brown borders are both 10 squares long.

Because there looks to be exactly 11 Orange and Tan squares, they would fit exactly within the same colored borders. However, while there looks to be 10 Yellow squares to match the Yellow border, unless there are 2 different shades of Brown, this symetry breaks down.

[Edit: not sure why I thought the brown looked like like purple...]

The arrows seem to indicate motion (spinning, rotating), but what exact purpose they hold, that will only be known when the puzzle is solved. It looks to me like a jumbled picture of Donkey Kong or Super Mario!

Well I might have it, I've unscrambled the blocks anyway.
Here's what I did

Method:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Starting with the horizontal lines, I shifted lines along (taking pieces to the other side when they reach an edge) until they had colours that matched up with the boarder next to them. After doing this to all the rows, I followed this with the same on the columns and got the following pic:

Possible answer:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Not entirely sure what it is but the best I can see in it is a lion maybe?

Congrats on whoever reads this first if it is the right answer, you get the first solve Wink

Took me a while, and a lot of hints via pm in IRC, but I got it. And kicked myself after.

If anyone want's to try to solve this themselves, I've written a javascript version that lets you play around with it as much as you like. Don't know if it will be of any use to anyone but it helped me.

Thanks! I managed to unscramble the picture correctly, but without the forum I never would have guessed in a million years what it was supposed to be.

I was a little confused by this one; got heavily distracted by the map piece on the back of #132 (looked a bit familiar).
