[Neurocam] Jack Spicer

I'm now starting a thread for this because it is starting to look very ARGish.

A few days ago I got an email from jack.spicerSPLAThush.com .
It was a vignere ciphered poem with the key being "Freedom is half the key".

I got another email today, subject line is CLOSER:

Quote:

Two halves make a whole.

http://www.jack-spicer.blogspot.com

Now we have the requisite in every ARG, albeit empty blog.

If freedom is half the key, then what is the other half? This looks like it might be interesting, but there is no puzzle to solve!

Maybe knowledge, freedom is useless without knowledge of what to do with it, knowledge is power, so it might have something to do with that too.

You've got to be kidding me.

'Jack Spicer' is the name of the gothy/geeky/colombiney badguy in the WB kids show 'Xiaolin Showdown'. I love him to deth, but please, please tell me someone's not trying to turn it into an ARG.

EDIT: on another note, wikipedia says "Jack Spicer (1925-1965) was an American poet and dramatist who was a key part of the San Francisco Renaissance." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Spicer

Grrrrrrr, Really for the love of Mike, whats the need for that post? This game hasn't done anything to warrent dissaproval, so the trailhead wasn't some big huge groundbreaking rabbit hole, so what, it just starts, and your already knocking things? If people spend the threads commenting on how it was launched, it's going to drive away players, and discourage the PMs, who for all we know, might rock the house.
How did ILB start out?
A screwed up site, and a Blooooog
It's interesting, it's started out with poetry, which is not yet a cliche, or have I missed the memo about that one too?

Anyways, after the ranting, I looked around, and read througgh his poems, nothing that stands out about having to do with Freedom or a Key except for the poem you recieved, maybe we're supposed to wait for another email?

Reading up a bit on him, Spicer seems to have been something of a puzzle smith. He had a fixation on the Spanish poet, Federico Garcia Lorca, and translated and/or rewrote of his works. He'd later challenge his readers to guessing games to see if they could tell whether a poem was written by him, Lorca, or a hybrid.

Lorca's been pretty strongly associated with the anti-facist side during the Franco Era in Spain, so maybe if looking at Spicer's poetry doesn't pan out we should try looking at his?

The need for that post is to express my opinion. I really don't have anymore to say on this topic since I wrote a novel (Wink) in this thread, which explains why ILB is acceptable and this isn't. You can post there if you still think my sarcasm is unwarranted, and we'll keep this post clean for the game.

Yes, please keep it to Meta. I'm all for your opinion (and may agree with it as well), but really, other people may want to play/enjoy this game without our opinions filling up the thread and turning it to mush. So, carry on, good Jack Spicer players, and hopefully those that have something Meta to stay will keep it to Meta Smile

Maybe he doesn't know we've solved the Vignere yet?

Jack says....

I think you need to think closer to home, the answer is simple. I
had you down as one of the intelligent ones Watcher, don't tell me
I've wasted my intuition. Here's a hint, the first half of the
puzzle relates to the second, when both pieces are combined, the
puzzle is complete.

I hope you didn't delete the first message I sent you by the way..

I hinted at it in a previous email, but I think I'll go ahead and just tell him.

Or, is it possible for a Vignere to have two keys and decrypt to two different things?

False alarm.

As with every cryptic email I receive, all roads lead to Neurocam

Sigh....

Oh Silent Watcher, how I do regret your presumption.

You have been quiet lately, are you choosing to relinquish me from your thoughts?

Well done for solving my Vignere Russell_k.

They are here for us all.

They will not stop.

For hell has only just begun.
