Email from Sam on 5/7 - watch for Newsclip!

Heather:
I just wanted to fill you in on our latest efforts to get into Wes' safe or to
find anything there to help us locate him. Here are some more combination suggestions people have sent to us and that we tried but with no success:

10-1-5
1-10-15
20-19-48
20-19-12
5-29-65
20-29-5
18-29-5

I'm getting really frustrated that we haven't figured out Wes' clue to the
combination yet. It seems like it should be much easier than it has been. I
can't help wondering what we are missing. I even tried digging through the trashcan like a few people wrote me and suggested but that turned up nothing.

Someone else suggested looking for indentations on Wes' deskpad calendar and using a pencil to lightly shade them in to read them, since that's where I found that phrase CASTLE GREEN RD written. I didn't find anything else written there unfortunately but it did look like Wes had drawn that damn graffiti symbol repeatedly on the pad earlier. Almost everywhere I traced over with a pencil, that damn ring with the dots turned up.

Dale is pretty shaken by the e-mails he received from Bruce. I don't think that it's just that they were once such close friends and now seem to be at odds and distrustful of each other. There seems to be something else going on here, as Dale seems to be questioning himself and the choices he has made. He seems to be having a harder time each day keeping facts and details of his former life straight in his mind. Last night we were talking about back when he first got me the job here in Aglaura and I had to stop and correct him a couple of times about small little details. I'm hoping it's just a side effect of all the stress he has been under lately, but it's worrisome anyway. I've been debating calling that Doctor from Klepsydra that Dale seemed to like and asking her for her opinion. Maybe she can shed some light on what's going on with him.

I'm hoping that Dale may have come up with something new to try on Wes' safe. He called my cell a while ago but I was in a meeting and didn't get to talk to him. He left a message saying he had found or remembered something that might be helpful, so I'm anxious to find out what it is. Maybe it's the anagrams I mentioned he was working on too. I'm not really sure.

OK, I'm calling it quits here at work after a few more e-mails to people. I was sticking around because we were supposed to be getting a new video newsclip from Channel 8 but so far it hasn't arrived yet. I went ahead and set something up so it can be posted as soon as the TV people upload it to our server. I'm not supposed to do things that way (I'm supposed to make sure that the file size isn't too large etc so it doesn't crash the site or anything) but I really don't want to have to come back in here tonight and wasn't sure how much time I would have anyway. It probably won't even show up until tomorrow at this point.

Keep in touch.

Sam

Hi Diandra,
Dale and I both really liked you idea that CASTLE GREEN RD and DALE might be
anagrams. It's interesting that one of the things you came up with was LEDGER
CALENDAR SET considering that's where the phrases were found. May just be a
coincidence but it's still weird if it is. The RED RECTANGLES phrase is curious
too, but so far hasn't gotten me anywhere. How about you? Dale was actually
working on more of these himself so maybe he came up with something today.

It's possible, but we shouldn't forget Laughing that Dale was supposed to forget about the Wish in the first place. Magic can be weird at times. Plus all this dimensional hopping cannot be good for his micro-cellulair cohesion. Meaning his mind may be slowly falling apart. Literally..

It's like he has created an alternative universe by making his wish, but then he remembers his wish and you get a time travel type paradox.

a changling eh, hmm that seems like it make some sense maybe we should be more carefull around Dale. I recall that in the IM chat he oddly snapped when I asked a question before he was done. It could be possible. I got to think about that one.

Dale as a changeling

hello All

I want to point out when this all first happened, after his wife and child were supossedly killed, that Dale said that he was having a hard time remembering stuff. Like all the facts were fading away... If he was a changeling there is a chance that it happened when his wife and child were taken. Rolling Eyes To me there is definently a chance of divergent timelines and a problem with the space-time continuum.

Not really wanting to "fall on the sword" for this one...

Another potential time that Dale could have been "body-snatched" is when he took his field-trip to fairy land. If that is the case, then we still need to get Dale back into the really-real world (with our second stash of wood).

It's also possible I'm just talking out of my butt (a la Ace Ventura). Laughing

Unrequested, I received this:
Quote:
Dan:
Hi, I'm finally getting back to people after working non-stop to recover from
the huge server meltdown of last weekend. It really sucks to be a network admin
sometimes. Sad

I've got a couple of things to fill you in on. First is the latest list of
suggestions for combinations for Wes' safe. You guys sent in quite a few of
them. Unfortunately, none of them worked. Here's what I tried:

6-5-2
10-6-3
10-1-3
1-29-13
1-29-15
12-9-13
12-9-15
1-29-3
1-29-5
20 - 19 - 48
19 - 18 - 37
20- 46 - 16
19- 35 - 15
50 - 29 - 66
05 - 29 - 66
30-35-11
35-31-23
79 14 23
23 14 79
11-5-25
12 48 75
58 - 52 -42
3-6-9
18,19,6
96, 65, 43
65, 43,96
43,96, 65
12-48-75
39-66-93

Sorry for the format differences but they are pretty much cut-and-pasted from
the e-mails you sent in. But, like I said, nothing worked. Dale really thought
we were on to something with the rodin + sunflower connection, and especially
the numbered "torus" that you found associated with it. If we could just figure
out what the last two images are trying to tell us . . .

I also have the list of books that Wes had taken out in the last wek or two.
Almost all of them I would call obscure, but hey, maybe that's just me. Here's
the list:

The Crock of Gold by James Stephens
L'Aiguille creuse by Maurice Leblanc
The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster
Le Grand Secret by Rene Barjavel
Le citta invisibili by Italo Calvino
Mission de l'Inde en Europe by Saint-Yves d'Alveydre
Leggende del mare by Maria Savi-Lopez
Four Quartets by T.S. Eliot
The Lost World of the Kalahari by Lauren Van der Post

Anybody out there actually read any of this stuff?

OK I have to run because I have lots to do yet tonight. I haven't heard from
Dale all day so I'm anxious to see what he may have come up with.

Thanks for your help and stay in touch.

Sam
So we're being hinted that the Rodin/Sunflower thing is the right track.

Lynn,
Do you know that old saying, "Just when you thought things couldn't get any
worse?" Boy, does that ever apply right about now.
I spent about three hours this afternoon in an interrogation room of the
Aglaura Police Department. It seems one of the first names out of Phyllis
Willingham's mouth when asked for possible suspects was mine. Damn that woman!
As if I'm the burglarizing, home invading type. Yeah, like Joe Pesci in Home
Alone or something. That didn't stop Aglaura's finest from putting me right
atop their list too, though. I can't believe the terrible timing - if I hadn't
gone there yesterday and gotten mad at that b . . I mean, woman, she never
would have brought my name up, I'm sure. The whole time I was sitting there
too, I was thinking "I sure hope they didn't go to my house with a search
warrant while they have me here!" Because of Dale, obviously. Anyway, luckily,
that didn't happen. As soon as they "released" me, I called Dale and he was
fine, busy working on Wes' safe combination. That was a few hours ago.
Anyway, I went back to my office for a brief while after that, because I didn't
get everything done I needed to thanks to their interruption. When I did get
home, just a little while ago, I found a note from Dale about the safe code and
saying he went down to Wes' shop to try an idea he was excited about. As soon
as I get a chance, I'll try and either scan it or take a photograph of it so
you can see what he left me, 'cause I don't know how to explain it.
By the way, I also do intend on posting the photo I have of Sarah Wyatt
somewhere as soon as I possibly can. I still need to scan that too since all I
have so far is the original photo.
If I don't hear from Dale soon, I just may go down to Wes' too.

Sam
