Possible ARG from MSN?

Never thought my first post would be a possible trailhead so forgive the possible troutness. I searched and didn't find anything about it so here goes...

This morning, upon getting my regular cup of coffee I noticed that the sleeve for the cup was a bit unusual. Rather than the normal random advertisements it had a black and white rendering of a close up of a pair of eyes. On the top of the sleeves was "CYKOLOGY" and at the bottom was "MSN SEARCH: MIND CONTROL MADNESS". A bit later I noticed that written in fairly small letters was "Mind Hacking".

I did an MSN search for mind control madness and didn't find anything that looked ARGish. The first result was a page by a guy who believes the Jonestown massacre was a CIA mind control experiment gone wrong. Seemed a bit too touchy for MSN to be using but, who knows. I also tried cykology.com which doesn't seem to exist (yet anyway) and a search brings up posts from somebody who has that as their username, but again doesn't look IG. It does appear that mindhacking.com but it seems to be down at the moment.

I'm leaning towards this being more of a viral marketing scheme trying to get people talking about all those inexplicable coffee sleeves and that's about it, but since I'm not in a position to poke around any more than I have, and Microsoft does have previous AGR experience I thought I'd throw it out to others - See if anybody has seen these.

I think the coffee sleeve thing may be a new development. But weirdly, I can't get anything interesting out of MSN Search for any of those terms. I can't even get the original search for "Cy" to return something fun. Neutral

Well, he did say it happened this morning. I suppose they could just be trying to get rid of old stock and he never noticed before...? Wink

Hey boozemonkey, if you have a moment, I'd love it if you could take a picture of the sleeve and mail it to meSPLATaddlepated.net for inclusion in the ARG Museum. Smile

No worries Phaedra, I've been lurking around these parts for a while now and don't have any plans to take off now. I'm not that easy to get rid of:)

SpaceBass - Thanks for the welcome. I always seem to have a schedule that isn't conducive to actively involving myself in the ARGs I'm interested in, but one never knows when I may pop up!

Addlepated - I have a confession to make. I don't have a camera. I should be able to track down a friend who does and will try and get you an pic as soon as I can.
