The End!

Thank you for playing Project Phoo (a.k.a Seen Steve, Cybexez, The Parody ARG, or The one with pixies!)

Before you start throwing things at me, give me a second to let you know what this is all about. :-)

Project Phoo is a recruitment campaign. A couple of weeks ago I got an idea for a new ARG, or at least for a new way to make an ARG. Frustrated by the lack of quality in recent games, I wondered why "the good people" stopped making games, and their answer was always the same. Not enough time, too much work, etc. etc.

Others showed signs of creativity, but most people who tried had no idea what they were getting themselves into. They tried doing things in small groups, or even alone, while the task at hand required the efforts of many more.

So it struck me, to make a good game, you really need a lot of good people, even if each one of them takes care of a little part. How can you get all these people to come together and make a game?

Enter Project Phoo. What was only supposed to be a stupid blog followed by a recruitment request turned into a parody mini-ARG. I didn't lose sight of the ultimate goal though, I wanted to get the people who understand the jokes. The people who knew what all the references were about and cared enough to play along, because those people--you--understand what ARGs are all about.

And hence, the Collaborative ARG Creation Process (err.. you get the idea). Do you feel that you're up to contribution a little part to a large ARG? Do you want to write a character and leave it at that? How about just making a few puzzles? Got more time, why don't you take over this website here and run it during the game? Even if you don't have any skills you might want to playtest a couple of pages or even donate some money for running the servers.

Basically, I want everyone to get together an make a game. You can contribute as little or as much as you like.

I won't go into all the details here, if you're interested just PM me and I'll notify you when things get started (skills audit, collaborative website, more details, etc.).

Let me know if you have any questions about the game itself, I'll be more than happy to answer them :-)

Thanks for making this fun to make. Please accept my satire with a grain of salt, and my apologies if I offended anyone. Steve, thanks for being such a great sport and hope you enjoy your swag ;-)

Life, for Earth.

/me returns from Festering in NYC to this...

... and dies laughing!

Ehsan, just one word....

BRILLIANT!

So SO much fun... poor Steve though, we were pestering him all weekend. We even approached Krystyn at one point to "accuse" her of being behind it.

BRAVO!

Note: If you click the little white page icon in the message at the "the end" webpage, it goes to a broken link.

Very entertaining. Really. Very Happy And just as well it imploded (in a controlled and generally well-planned way), cuz we were fending off so many games and beers at argfest we didn't have time to check every time that countdown reset.

Next time, just come to ARGFest!

cybexez is timing out, so I can't see this hilarious credits page I keep getting told about, but I WILL SAY ONE THING:

I totally pinned Ehsan for this. Steve and several others can corroborate this, from chatting about it this weekend. Out of all the suspects it coulda been, he was the -only- one I was sure of.

Heeeeeeeee, awesome.

And when people stormed me at the Pioneer bar over the weekend and demanded to know, "Who gives a sh*t about Steve?" I look confused and said, "...I do?"
