i just put that in exactly, once without the last line being all n/a's in which case it told me that i hadnt filled out all the answers, and once with the last line being all n/a's in which case it told me it was incorrect. this card is doing my head in almost as much as 181 and it seems i am the only one :(

edit: crisis averted, tis solved now, using enigmasters original answer, no final dumping of spare into nearby flowers, and lots of n/a's. woo 15 points yay!

rach =)

woo! of course, your help with 181 helped the points score rather more than this measly little card, but i'l forgo the adulation and instead compliment the choice of attire ;)

i think we need us some official PPC cheerleaders, puzzle solvers need encouragement just as much as football players!

I used the second solution, and I'll walk you through it in solve style:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Fill the 3l Jug
Fill the 5l jug from the 3l Jug
Fill the 3l Jug From the Watercooler
Fill the 5l Jug from the 3l Jug
Empty the 5l Jug from the N/a
Fill the 3l jug from the watercooler
fill the 5l jug from the 3l jug

Well that worked for me, and has the bonus of not having to put in loads of N/as

Nice one, but you missed a step

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
After dumping the 5l jug, fill it from the 3l jug before refilling the 3l jug from the watercooler

Good add Atrophied. That extra step helped. Ty, one less to worry about.

Actually it's only 400ml.

Just got this card and figured out the "right" answer, but there's a more elegant solution if the cups are cylindrical:

1) Fill both cups.
2) Pour out each one just enough so that the water line just touches the bottom of each cup. This cuts each volume in half.
3) Add the contents of the small cup to the large: 150 + 250 = 400

Don't think it works if the cups are conical at all.

Okay, I feel like an idiot. I've worked out three different solutions for myself, and then copied every different possible answer that I can find for this problem. No matter what combination of answers I try, no matter how many times I say "there are now 400ml in the 500ml cup", it doesn't seem to work. And look as hard as I can, I can't find the "N/A" option that everyone says to add. GRRRRAARRR!

...I should go calm down...
