[Circle] #207 Huey Teocalli

Haven't a scan for this yet.

Looks straight forward although my guess failed. Can anyone confirm that it looks as if some of the ink is slightly pearlescent? Any ideas, tried heat and bright light.

The text reads:

On the island of Tenoch at Huey Teocalli, the Greater Temple of the Aztecs, the Great Speaker Ahuizotl looked on the finished temple as it dazzled in teh sun, a fitting tribute to Huizilopochtli. But all was not well, for the inaugural sacrifice had fled their chamber and was making their way to the exit of the temple.

But the wrath of Huizlopochtli was great, and as the sacrifice passed each of the four rooms dedicated to the sun god, the sun disappeared or reappeared in the sky. Fearing escape impossible, the sacrifice raced for freedom, taking but 1 second to cross a tile.

What is the shortest time until the sacrifice is free?

Well

The effect you see on the cards is UV-reactive ink. At least, it shows up under a black light... maybe it's supposed to be glow in the dark or something. Anyhow the only thing I can think is that it has something to do with the sun going up or down as the prisoner goes through each of the sun rooms. The ink shows up as a bunch of dark spots when under a blacklight. Not 100% sure what to do with that though

I agree Rev,
there's UV ink on this card alright, but not sure as to what purpose it is supposed to be used.
It looks like paths or wall or something and are in the pathways but I cannot see what they do. If they are walls, then escape is impossible because there is no way to leave the top left corner.
The UV ink could be part of these metapuzzles, but then the answer seems too easy to be a black :S
Not quite sure what to make of this one.

EDIT:
Oh and here's a scan btw Cool
On the scan you can just about make out the UV tracks on the maze.
Not much to see on the back though but buildings, and a place called Carter House.

I'm pretty sure I've solved this card, however I had two possible answers depending on what you're allowed to do, and I only got one guess today because the card had two fails on it already when it got into my grubby mits.

Ah well, tomorrow I will defeat it! I'm confident I know the answer.

Pretty sure this is the key to solving this card

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

The Card suggests that the sun is blazing when the slave tries to escape and that every time he passes the sun god's room the sun either appears or disappears. This suggests that the UV lines are significant when the sun is out, i.e. they block his way. So this is simply a case of finding a route which is not blocked by the UV lines when the sun is out.

Not as easy as it sounds, since you have to interpret how this rule works and the card is not too specific. Do you have to pass through a room, or can you simply step in and back out again?

For the record, I have tried

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

334 - Pass through each room only once
256 - Pass through each room more than once, not just stepping in and back out
224 - Pass through each room more than once and allow "nipping in"

That's all my guesses used up for today Crying or Very sad

Good luck everyone, this is still unsolved

Hey, Snr Weaver, it's very strange that we're both working on this card, and plus, we have exactly the same number of points (2/8/06)! Heh. Got the ninth solve on Some Assembly Required *bows*...

Very Happy

yes, precisely.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think the answer should be 334. This is nice and elegant, it means there's only one way to go for each section of the card (you have to enter the first room by going this one available way, and there's only one way to go to the second room from it baring going around in circles etc.) It also uses all of the information on the card.

However it doesn't work. I also tried 335, thinking they might have counted steps rather than tiles, and counted the step off the card at the end. No dice.

If you're compiling a list of failed tries, I also have tried 316, which is the number of tiles you pass over if you step into the first sun room to turn the lights off, then double back. (not 315)

Now I'm starting to think of other things.

The fastest normal route, while going in all rooms once, was 196 for me, but I can confirm that is also incorrect.

Cheers Ben, perhaps the sun god smiles on us both!

Have just tried:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

218 - if you step into each room and back out again to stay in the dark
219 - as above, but with same idea as ahdok, counting steps not tiles

Saving a solve just in case. Going to try a different approach.
