I thought I may as well try a quick mail to cards... totally chancing it, but it went like this:

" Could you confirm whether Riemann is definitely solvable, or only hypothetically solvable?"

The illuminating answer was:

"We can't confirm or deny anything about the card."

was worth a try though...

I think that we are trying to see what isn't there. Probably there isn't a hidden message but the link to the website is the key.

So using the link to Clay Maths and using the Firebox clue (try one of our (only) slightly easier problems) could be directing you to one of the other 6 millennium problems, hence the (only)...easier as they are all hard problems.

Then I came across this:
http://www.claymath.org/millennium/Birch_and_Swinnerton-Dyer_Conjecture/

It is one of the other problems but it makes connections to the zeta function and also the Official Problem description was written by Andrew Wiles which can be connected to the email about fermat and the margin.

I think I'm onto something but not sure where to go from here.

i'll add the riemann sphere as attatchment

*edit 2* sorry again!! you no escher did them never ending lines i was on about? well one of them is called the "Möbius strip"... isnt that the name of that pxc place? mobius strip.... AND ITS IN THE SAME SHAPE

Yes that's maybe something because all of the other problems have what seems to be relevent pictures at the side but this one doesn't seem to have a connection with the problem.

but what about the riemann sphere? or maybe its something to do with the puzzles with the mobius strip map pieces on the back of them? (80 83 81 82)

and quote what relish said ^^ no!
I don't think this will be anything to do with Mobius. The mobius strip is famous as it only has one side:

Quote:
A Möbius strip is a two-dimensional surface with only one side. It can be constructed in three dimensions as follows. Take a rectangular strip of paper and join the two ends of the strip together so that it has a 180 degree twist. It is now possible to start at a point A on the surface and trace out a path that passes through the point which is apparently on the other side of the surface from A.

Having said that Mobius is also a famous mathematician, as well as astronomer, so there may be a link. They were both alive at the same time, so they may have worked together, but I'm not aware of it (I'm no expert).

Likewise I suspect the Riemann sphere won't lead anywhere, there must be loads of other formulae which Riemann proposed/ proved. I think (for what it is worth) that the answer to this card is either an actual proof to Riemann's hypothesis (doubtful as it would be considerably harder than any other card solved yet, and it isn't known whether it is possible) or some other proof from the card, for example the proof reading idea.

N.B. The size of the answer box indicates it's a lengthy answer
i havent looked yet is it one like with a scrolly thing down the side?

well i doubt it would be mathematical anyway because u can't get some mathematical symbols on the computer or u'll have to look very hard lol

proof also as stated in previous posts, mistakes on the card.

I agree with the idea of a proof reading, the correction on the answer page could also be some kind of clue towards this

I wondered about that too, and thought the answer might be the setter (probably Sente). But not all the cards have the puzzle architect on: the historical puzzles (like 153 Spider and the Fly or 176 The Lake) don't. As this is *meant* to be the Riemann Hypothesis, the puzzle architext would be Riemann, and no further signature would be needed.
