I definiately think this is:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
A wideband spectrogram of a male voice. But the guy is saying something specific, so I'm going to do a mapping with my voice saying various letters, intonnations, etc

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The program I'm using is SFSWin, available from HERE. If you need help using it the html help files are pretty self-explainitory. Otherwise you can PM me.

EDIT:

Could somebody try answering this with:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
A wideband spectrogram of a male voice saying 'yiista'

Nor Yiixtia.

There must be a connection here with 22 - Cold Fission, right? The one that says - The Password is Yiisitia?

Oh my hopes were high then. Neuromancer can you explain in a bit more detail how you got to that answer? Thx

Well for the yiista bit I took a 'leap of faith' cos I saw the post about the password.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If this is a spectrogram, then it looks like the word is made up of 'harsh' sounds, like the 'yi' and the 'st' in yiistia. I may be well off the mark with my interpretation but I do think we're on the right lines. What a spectrogram has to do with 'Elucidate' I don't quite know yet.

If you google 'wideband spectrogram' you'll see what me and cassandra are on about.

Try playing about with that app I link to if you have a mic.

EDIT:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Just thought about the relationship between a wideband spectrogram and the word 'Elucidate'. We use wideband spectrograms in speech analysis and synthesis as they use wider frequency 'boxes' to make the temporal aspects of a signal CLEARER. This allows us to see the individual sounds and intonnations.

There's my thoughts anyway, probably a load of rubbish but thats what impeding coursework deadlines do to ya!!

How about

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"itself" - because according to Von's hint this is what the card represents sensibly even if it isn't clear

Hey timair, I think you're on to something there.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I produced a spectrogram of myself saying 'itself' and it does kinda look like the pic on the card. I can't post a pic of the spectrogram in spoiler tags unfortunately, so as I don't want to spoil this card for others I won't post an image here.

heh, I suggested it to Reason a while ago. So if anyone doesn't mind being guinea pigs, go ahead!

my one issue now, looking at it, is the l sound and the s not being high enough. wish there were more obvious plosives.

of course, this applies only if our logic is correct Wink

Maybe the 'speech' if it is that, was spoken by a child? their average frequency range is a lot higher than adults, and so the 'l' and the 's' may be higher. I don't have child to test this theory on, so if anyone has 'access' to a child (lol) then could you please dload the program and get them to say the sounds of 'l', 'm', 'n', 'w' and 's', 'sh' and 'f', 'h'.

Attached below is a spectrograph of me saying 'Elucidate', so you can all see what a spectrograph looks like. I'm kinda thinking now that the card would have had to have some image manipulation done on it if it was a spectrograph, as the card has smooth gradients rather than noisy ones.

There's a definite resemblance there with the lines and the contours but the card would have to be a closeup of perhaps just one section of a spectrograph rather than the complete thing.
