INFO: From the info section of redkore.com

According to the Red Kore Info page, item 2, "Intro,"
Quote:
there are 18 trips, equally divided across 6 series.

each series is charged by a different guiding shape.

each trip involves a different manipulation of the guiding shape's energy.

The only one currently available is Rectangle 1. I assume there will be a Rectangle 2 and a Rectangle 3, along with 3 trips for each of the other shapes.

Item 3, "Trip Mechanism," states:
Quote:
each trip comprises intellectual, imaginative and intuitive elements.

in the first 3 stages of trip study ("attunement"), the corresponding centers of the user's consciousness work together in attempting to unlock the trip's mechanism, with a different aspect dominating in turn: the intellect in stage 1, the imagination in stage 2, the intuition in stage 3.

however, it is with the intuition alone – stage 4 ("access") – that the trip's mechanism is penetrated, the portal is obtained and transport is engaged.

a trip's destination may be accessed as many times as desired.

This makes precious little sense. At the same time, however, it is wholly confusing.

Proceeding on, Item 4, "Trip Portals," obfuscates further:
Quote:
while the manner in which each user comes to understand a particular trip is unique, the portal and associated dimension are the same for everyone.

portal objectivity has 3 significant implications:

(i) an individual using a particular trip can spread his or her explorations of the associated dimension across multiple transports;

(ii) individuals who conduct separate investigations of a dimension using the same trip can reliably compare and pool their findings;

(iii) individuals can use a particular trip to access and explore a dimension as a group.

Item 5, "Trip Guides" lets us in on the fact that there are some helper screens in the trips section of the Red Kore website.
Quote:
the guides in the trips section are intended to assist the user in making steady progress through a trip's stages.

guides are built using screens, or focal points.

the type of assistance provided by the screens depends on the stage the user currently occupies in his or her studies of the corresponding trip.

Currently, that section only has one trip available, as with the store.

I have the sinking feeling that this is just a big marketing gimmick by some New Age snake-oil salesmen and not a true ARG. Hope I'm wrong but as they say quite often in Star Wars: "I've got a baaad feeling about this."

Should we just install a revolving door in the Curtain now, or what?

(yeah, brilliant idea PF, tick off a guy who's been sending people free stuff. Free cool stuff. I don't even know what a "lanyard" is, but by God I *want* one to the depths of my soul!!!)

Anyhoo, see you all at the Mars Face. Melissa & Leslie will have light refreshments ready (very obscure reference, 50 points to anyone who gets it)

if TELEPORT were in fact an ARG, immersive game, etc., i'd probably be more attentive to PM protocol.

since it isn't, i'm not really breaking any rules, am i?

the truth of the matter is that TELEPORT is what we say it is, namely, a multidimensional transport system.

if you feel the TELEPORT forum is inappropriate material for the unfiction site, you might want to contact the site admin and ask him to take it down.

thanks, PF.

we put a lot of effort into designing the trip and its package, and we think we came up with something pretty cool.

the lanyard, by the way, is the black ropey thing you attach to the sleeve then hang round your neck.

I'm both disappointed that you got it so quickly, and happy that somebody actually got it at all.

Oh well, a promise is a promise. 50 points to you, would you like to spin the wheel or take a pick of the board?

more "argh!" than ARG

Oops, now *I* feel like I've broken some kind of protocol, but I don't know which one! I'm in over my head here, I can't tell what's META and what's not anymore. Much more of this stress and I may flee to England and start a sentient-spyware packed web browser company. Hey, it worked before...

(brain go "eek! BANG!" now)

Oh. I've seen those things before. hell, I've even used them before. I didn't know they were called "lanyards" though. I always just called them pieces of string or whatever. Who says an Unfiction forum can't be educational?

This post brought to you by the letters R, O, T and the number 13.

Don't bother, I'm already way too hooked on this to stop now. Although I think I may be stuck in Stage 1.7, "Really Have to Pee."

It was the first Lucas Arts game I managed to finish. Got stuck with the circuit breaker thing in Maniac Mansion. Mad

I'll do the pick of the board. Not much of a gambler.
