META: Lighten up, people

OK, let's all take a step back and breathe deep. My intent in originally posting the link to the RedKore forum was not to start a flame war. It was an effort to show more spec on what the heck RedKore is all about.

So, at this point, if anyone can contribute to shed some light on what RedKore is, (and what it isn't, for that matter), that's welcome. I'm seeing a lot of angst and not a lot of intelligent speculation. Who has received a kit? Let them post their observations, if any. Passionate opinions are great, but let's not cross the line into personal attacks.

In my opinion, this RedKore thing has done nothing so far except to stir up things and piss people off, starting off in chat and now spreading onto this board, suspiciously. If that doesn't change soon, I'll be happy to lock the whole thing down. Especially if the spec that it's exactly this kind of "discussion" that RedKore is trying to promote turns out to be true.

I've received a kit, and have not been able to come to any conclusions about it yet. If it turns out to be a game of some sort, then I'm keeping an open mind. However, as I said before, if it turns out to be some metaphysical b.s., I'm not gonna be very happy. I'm leaning toward the latter at this point, though.

Insight, observation, speculation and discussion are welcome. But it better lead somewhere soon, or I'm tossing my wafers. Wink

steve,

with regards to some of my comments in the unfiction chat room, i posted a message at CD apologizing for some immature behavior on my part.

i was just trying to get things moving a bit. i now understand that offending ppl probably isn't the best approach! Embarassed

so, i've been staying out of the way, and i intend to stay out of the way so you lot can actually enjoy this thing.

again, i apologize for some of my stupid comments in the chat room. i think this is a cool community and i hope we can all enjoy this experience together.

marc.

CD

Hate to tell you this, marc... but not everyone here either CAN or WANTS TO go to CD, so therefore wouldn't see your "apology".

I suggest you post said apology to THIS room and get the matter over with.

okaaaaaaay....

alright everyone. hopefully this takes care of it. Smile

in the early stages of this project (2 days is starting to feel like a long time...), i felt that interest was flagging a bit and i wanted to try and perk things up.

i spent some time in the unfiction chat room stirring things up (although i was also there to have a nice chat!), including playing the "unfiction vs CD" card, and generally being a bit personally offensive to a few people (sorry james....)

this was a mistake! i've admitted it several times, apologized several times.

i'm human, i make mistakes, i learn, i move on.

i now have a much clearer idea of how this whole things works, and on a personal development note, have learned to be a little more respectful when barging into situations i don't really understand.

so that's it.

again, genuinely sorry, and i hope we can move on.

enjoy.

marc.

From the mouths of babes

Maybe I've completely misunderstood the intention of the ARG community but I thought it was about enigmatic puzzles and riddles and the chase for new information with all of your fellow players. If we would rather completely remove the element of mystery and immersion from the experience... shouldn't we just be playing some puzzle game? Ive posted a couple things here and there that are speculation on the cards but by and large everyone seems to be too interested in chasing shadows to have fun.

Nope, you're pretty much dead-on there. Red Kore is somewhat of an anomaly in that they've stated that it is not an ARG but at the same time they are targeting the ARG community as part of their audience. The whole strategy reminds me of Celia (who said that first?), but I'm content to watch it unfold for a bit so long as it all stays civil.

And for the record, I still haven't had any odd dreams. Rolling Eyes

"This is NOT a game."

where have i heard that before?

It is interesting to watch how frustrated some people become with anything that they do not immediately understand. While I do agree with the concerns about spending money on an ambiguous product, I believe the "experience" part of the trip is probably best if not fully explained up front.

my thought precisely

Yeah I kind of figured thats what the "alternate reality" in ARG was for...
Wink
If they just came right out and said this is a game, this is how long it will last, this is what can be expected, theres a lot of neat twists. It, ,well it sort of loses something doesnt it?
