[UPDATE] Quirky Acuity - July 29 - Oh no

Quote:
Went to visit my dad today at the Academy and as I was going into his office, who should be coming out but Aiko. She didn't say anything to me, just gave me this look. I'm sure she knows. My dad didn't say anything, he was shaking her hand and wishing her well, but I'm sure she was trying to tell me something with that look. I don't know what to do about this. She's coming back to work at the Academy soon. Maybe I should have a talk with her. But then what if she doesn't know anything, if I'm just imagining stuff because I'm paranoid? Ugh.

Aw man, what a cafuffle this business with Aiko has become! I guess, socially, you'd better try to make okay with her. I mean, she's been held up to public scandal and scrutiny, so she's probably going to be, you know, a bit standoffish .. uhm, to say the least. Maybe you could .. uhm .. lemme think .. well, i wanna say buy her some fFlowers with an I'm sorry note attached .. but that's sort of .. not quite right .. uhm .. OH! I know!! I've got it!! you could ask your dad about seeing if maybe she could setup a blog of her own so she can talk to Earth, see! That way she has a creative outlet she can use -- she'd like that -- and she can tell her perspective of things, and, like .. then, you know, you look like a champ cause it was your big idea, see? Smile It shouldnt be tooo hard fFor Your dad to set such a thing up, i wouldnt think, right? Or maybe you could just suggest the idea to her and she can set it up on her own? Or maybe she can ask Kurt fFor some help on the matter?

Cheers!

(really I'm only posting this cos in the event she actually does get a blog, you heard it here fFirst Smile )

Came up with the same idea. I tried to cheer her up, telling her that it was not her fault (come on, her one and only mistake was to trust in a bunch of strangers Twisted Evil ).

Anyway, I tried to explain to her that Aiko needs a friend in such a difficult moment. At the end, the lack of communication between them will only increase Aiko's suspicions, it there are any.

I also included a list of unusual words, since she likes them so much. The more unusual, the better.

What did she mean by:

Quote:
...I'm sure she knows. My dad didn't say anything, he was shaking her hand and wishing her well, but I'm sure she was trying to tell me something with that look. ...

knows what? ...that she gave her a mean look? or that she took the cube? Laughing or what?

I think you must have missed it. Violet stole a file from the Reconstructionist compound, naming Aiko as a Recon. This got leaked and Aiko got arrested (and later freed)

If Aiko does know the truth and as we know now, she is a Recon herself, why has she not gone to the compound's leaders to tell them Violet was behind the theft?

Good point. Who says she hasn't?

Would you consider Aiko up for revenge? Would the Recons?

But even if the recons are not up for revenge I'm sure they would have gone to the Police with their suspicions (If they had any) as a theft has occurred and laws have been broken?

That's because, I think, the Recons do not know that anything was stolen

Quote:
It was pretty straightforward after that; I found the key room again without difficulty. The codeword Archer worked perfectly. Kurt had pointed out to me, as we went past, the right key to switch for the one from his collection - he's done something clever to it so that it'll mimic whatever signature their other systems are looking for, so they won't notice it's gone for a while anyway.

Unsure, at this monemt, what was exactly said in the letter that tipped off Sente, it was posted somewhere on the board.

Now either Violet is paranoid that she is misreading signals or that the Recons suspect her I do not know?

The more I think about it - the more its down to her paranoia

I did forget that the only way that the folks would suspect is that the Recons or Aiko have looked at her blog.

Dr. Kiteway:

My associates at UnFiction Cryptanalysis have recently decrypted a troubling communique that was forwarded to us by a source in the Reconstructionist compoud - a source who wishes to remain anonymous, and whose wishes we are respecting.

The encrypted communique was written in the Befunge programming language (more data on Befunge can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Befunge , and the encrypted communique - plus a discussion of it - can be found on the UnFiction Cryptanalysis Communications Network here: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11118&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 ). It has been successfully decoded, and here is the communique in plaintext:

To: Brother Andrius, Sister Simla
18 March 2005

The following guests will be attending The Builder's Celebration and are anxious that their identities be kept secret. Although I agree with Brother Andrius that it is preferable to speak openly of one's love of the faith, in these cases I fear we may do more harm than good by not bowing to this request. I have communed with the Cube and am convinced of my decision. Thus, the following individuals will arrive through the West entrance early in the day, and will be allotted a concealed position during the Ceremony of the First Stone.

Nadia Anek, Aiko Entrescore, Demetri Fallon, Ryan Klein, Keenan Thoreau, Gill Yewley

As Aiko Entrescore is involved in the Academy Cube Retrieval Program, I felt it best to notify you that she may be a Reconstructionist mole - that is, an agent the Reconstructionists have in place to inform them of the program's progress and, if necessary, to sabotage it.

I recommend you keep Aiko Entrescore under surveillance. If it appears that she is indeed working against the best interests of the Program and its agents here on Earth, please contact the appropriate law-enforcement authorities and have her removed from the Program.

I seem to be a reply magnet now! Weirdness. I feel special. Mr. Green

I emailed Violet last Friday after reading her latest blog entry...

Violet-

Yipes. That's a tough one, isn't it? I mean, she could really know how she got found out...but on the other hand, she might just be having a bad day or something. Or maybe she doesn't like you. Who knows? Honestly, I wouldn't talk to her about it unless you KNOW that she knows about your involvement. I mean, revealing that it was your snooping around the Recon compound that ultimately got her in trouble if she doesn't already know could be huge trouble for you.

Perhaps the best course of action would be to get someone else to ask some discreet questions? *Very* discreet questions.

Be careful with this one. Keep your eyes open...

...and she replied sometime this afternoon...

Hi Stacy -

Thanks for your advice. I think you're right, it's probably best to keep my secrets to myself, but it's difficult - I know I'm going to see her again. Sigh. But yes, maybe Kurt could make some enquiries for me. He does work with her after all, so he'd have more natural opportunities to quietly enquire. On the other hand, he's also pretty implicated! Maybe I should just give up the amateur sleuthing altogether.

Anyway, thanks for your email. I do appreciate how concerned everyone on Earth has been for my welfare.

Violet

I just wrote her back--telling her that we enjoy her sleuthing Very Happy, and maybe Kurt should ask Aiko some questions anyway, seeing as how he's going to be working with her whether she knows or not. I also let her know that if Aiko DOES know about her and Kurt's involvement, she didn't learn it from us, and quoted her a part of Macavity's letter.

Anyway, just thought y'all would like to know how she's feeling. Looks like she could really use some encouragement.
