[META] What's the hook?

Any informed guesses on what all this will be linked to, in fashion of AI?
Might be a clue to the direction we will be headed in, or for where to look for more links....

well, at the mo' i don't think that we have enough information to even speculate as to what the hook is. However, I think that it is somehow computer game/ film related. A game that the public know are in plans but have no information on...that kind of stuff...

Well, not every ARG has a "hook". there have been many many ARG's that are not ad camps. I am not sure speculation as to who adrian's backers are is really worth doing just yet, for all we know he just wanted to do a really big ARG for his own sake.

my two cents

Good on him....

if that is the case! However, costs of putting this together must be mounting and there is also the question of the significant financial reward. Course, Sente might know that the Perplex Groat/£ is on the slide this end of the wormhole Cool Apart from huge pride in

I can't get the math to work, ergo the thread. Something like 'National Treasure' would have fit the bill, but the website is devoid of any obvious links. Will keep speculating as still 19 days at least to go....

I have to agree with Lurkerific on this one. I mean, yes, it is fully possible this is an ad camp, as a few args have been {starting with The Beast}, but I know of more ARGS, and some are big ones, that are not ad camps. There are people out there willing to fund this kind of stuff. Also, if he has enough people helping, he might have everyone chipping in. I forget what the cost of Urban Hunt was, and while I am certain the costs cannot compare, I can use that as an example of everyone chipping in. I do believe AWARE was not an ad camp, and it is one of the more infamous ARGs that I am aware of [EDIT:pardon the bad pun]. I know far many ARG's than I do ARG/ad camps. As I said, it is fully possible it is an ad camp, but i agree that spec is rather futile right now. besides, how far behind the curtain do you really want to go? We already know of Adrian... what more do we need?

i could have sworn someone said this arg was financially backed for commercial purposes, but i can't find where so my brain might have just made that up

If you do find it let me know... I honestly have no clue. i'll admit i'm quick to jump on things, and have a reputation for doing so, so i hope my comments didn't come out as harsh... i just decided to say something because i've been dealing with the whole arg vs ad camp thing a lot recently in trying to explain to my friends what ARGing is... I explain the beast, and how it started the whole thing, and ILoveBees being how i discovered ARG's even though i didn't continue to play and moved on to UH.... and after watching interviews, and how people are cutting them to make it sound like ARG's are all ad camps on some sort. I kinda hope it's not another videogame related ARG however... no offense to anyone, just not my crowd. It looks VERY promising however.

well if it deals with time theories (2210?) then it's possible it could be for a movie or game... Confused
either way, I'll be a happy to be a part of it regardless... at least, to try Smile who knows how different this'll be from ILB

Well, in this chat transcript, http://www.deaddrop.us/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=173

Adrian Hon does say they are working with a "very unusual partner.":

Which I guess wouldn't have to be commercial, but that was the assumption I made when I read that comment a few weeks ago.

If I remember correctly, Adrian says the game will mostly be played by answering telephones at certain times, and we have to find them by geocoding... I think it's a great and original idea, actually!

sign me up for the arranging text snippets into narratives, decoding strange emails and convincing Sente he really needs to use emoticons to communicate with us. Wink
