1) We don't know yet. There's lots of spec about the key cards (look around the forums).
2) No special significance, they seem to have had a lot of S1 cards left over so they send one out with each S2 order. Other people have also gotten candy and stuff as freebies.

The candy is a firebox thing they ALWAYS give with orders (at least for 3 years anyway). The perplex city cards go with every order as well AFAIK, mainly aimed at the people who buy stuff from firebox non-perplex city related

Actually in my earlier orders that came all the way from the UK, I did indeed get UK sweets. But now Firebox has some sort of fulfillment operation in the US, and no UK sweets the last couple times.

I will eat free candy if you give it to me. But I won't beg for it. Don't need the calories. (If I were a better person I would even turn down the free candy, but I'm not.)

Anyone have any tips for finding clues on cards? Hints...since I didn't play season 1... Hello I'm still really new to Perplex City so I'm seriously lost on some of the cards. I'm curious as to what you had to do with the cards last season? Is it true that the backs of them peel off or is that just a rumor?
Oh and how can I get a keycard? Anyone know anything about those?

The backs don't peel off - that's just how it looks from some of the pictures thatare used to show that the backs of cards have interesting stuff on them. However, some cards do have features like heat-sensitive ink, microprint, ultraviolet ink and scratch-and-sniff.
As for the keys, the best way to get them now is to place an order of season 2 cards from Firebox. As long as their supplies last, they will send out a key with the order.

It seriously looked like they were peeling it off...good thing I didn't try it. Just curious but for the heat sensitive ink will it reveal if you hold it above a lamp...as I may have found a card like that.
I'm going on the US Firebox...it's sucky that Lucky's in B.C. don't give them out.

Yes, the heat sensitive ink should reveal if you hold the card over a lamp (just don't leave it there too long!!), or against a heater or radiator, or even if you just put your finger/hand/arm/random body part over the suspicious area for a few seconds or so
There was tell during the first season of some cards being subjected to various tortures, including peeling apart, freezing, microwaving, and goodness knows what. But I think you should be fine approaching them with less severe measures.
