[Project EVA] unencoded.com

Greywanderer popped into #unfiction with a trailhead to a blarg.

Looks like there was a cryptic message on a Second Life message board

secretlair

Puzzle 1
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The capital letters spell out HELP MY GIRL FIND

with a link to http://unencoded.com/ ( which I'm surprised isn't owned by a URL squatter )

Puzzle 2 at unencoded.com
figuring out how to stop the redirect.

Puzzle 3 at unencoded - decoding the 1's and 0's
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I like the decoder at nickciske.com/tools/
decodes to 7 names which are "Simulators" or regions of Second Life the game.
Hikuelo Obscure Tilitr Cecropia Vaoetere Clear

Puzzle 4 at unencoded - source code, duh.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
First letter of each line gives you doctor-l.blogspot.com http://doctor-l.blogspot.com

Also note that it sounds like unencoded.com will have updates.

Puzzle 5 at doctor-l
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
ROT at bottom of page
Aopz pz h uld nhtl myvt Uao Nlu Shiz, thrlyz vm mpul hsalyuhapcl lualyahputlua mvy obthuz. Fvb kljpwolylk aopz zv fvb ruvd doha av kv ulea: Mvssvd aol jsblz, rllw uvalz, whf haaluapvu. Aol nhtl pz hmvva, tfzalyf hdhpaz! Nhyf Kvbnshz/Olhk Avf Thrly/Uao Nlu Shiz/shiz.buohjrly.jvt

which translates to
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
This is a new game from Nth Gen Labs, makers of fine alternative entertainment for humans. You deciphered this so you know what to do next: Follow the clues, keep notes, pay attention. The game is afoot, mystery awaits! Gary Douglas/Head Toy Maker/Nth Gen Labs/labs.unhacker.com

Puzzle 6 at doctor-l
Several links to out of game sites. Figuring out which are in-game and out-of-game is a puzzle in and of itself.
My guess is http://evaresearch.blogspot.com/ is in-game, since it links to http://labs.unhacker.com/
And http://labs.unhacker.com/ appears to be the makers of this puzzle.

I have nothing else to go on. The only puzzles I know left are verifying evaresearch is in-game, and determining if labs.unhacker.com is out-of-game, or just another layer of Alternate Reality.

EDIT: Adjusted Subject line -vpi

I think http://labs.unhacker.com/ is in game.

If you go to the products section you'll see EVA listed and a link to the "official" site http://eva.unvirtual.com/ From there you can go to http://www.unvirtual.com/ which is probably also IG.

Those are some impressively done websites. Definitely need to take a deeper look.

Hi folks,

The first clue was posted on my web site. I didn't notice until I read about it on ARGTalk today. I've since turned up a little bit of information on what exactly this ARG is, although you probably know already.

I'm not sure the info is much of a spoiler, since it was out in public as early as April, but instead of posting it here, I'll just leave the link.

Hmm, this might be a little more than it looks like at first glance. Somone passed ARGN this:

blackmylar.com/serendipity

Quite a bit there to dig through, and it links to some more sites. I haven't been following this closely enough to make heads nor tails of it, though.

There's an online "game" (sort of an MMORPG without any real goal - you just build things, buy stuff, sell stuff, socialize, etc, and pretty much everything is user-built) called Second Life (http://www.secondlife.com). Yeah, you pay to play it, but the basic account (which I'm pretty sure most people have, unless they're ver serious players) is a one-time fee of about $10, and there's no software to buy or anything. Anyway, they're in the process of having their second game developer's contest. The EVA Project is one entry for this year, and it's an ARG that goes in and out of SL. That blog that was just posted has a lot of info about it (I've been working with the owner of it). Almost all of our findings have been going up on there. There's some more info on the IU boards too, but if it's in poor form to post that link, I won't (not sure if it is or not). I believe that it's still basically in the pre-game teaser and once the contest is over in July, it'll officially launch.

For anyone interested in the EVA Project and/or called Second Life: yes it costs money (typically) but the basic account is a one-time fee. Anyway, if anyone was interested in EVA but didn't want to play because of the cost, check this out. This was taken off of the Second Life forums, posted by an employee of Linden Labs (the people behind SL - ergo offical and non-scammy):

I hate to multi-post, but I wanted to remind people that today is the first day of the free Second Life accounts giveaway. Once you have an account, it's yours forever and you won't have to pay anything else ever. Plus, you can help us investigate the EVA Project!

Wanted to add that although it is free, you will still need a credit card to sign up for the account.

The more I look into this one, the less is seems to center around logging into Second Life for information.

Sure there are items in Second Life for this, but a large majority of interactions, puzzles, etc... have been through web sites and emails.

This one is starting to look pretty big, and I'd just like to use this one message to say that people shouldn't be passing this one up just because it's associated with Second Life.

There's a lot going on here.

there was an update about the EVA Project on ARGN today.

Quote:
Got this in the ARGN inbox a couple of days ago:

On July 31, 2005, an unknown assailant executed a highly orchestrated disruption of the EVA Project Orientation seminar.
In what could be considered a hostile attack, this individual employed guerilla tactics and advanced technology to sabotage the event and seize the critical EVA Core.

EVA Project technologist Shakuhachi Muromachi is also missing and wanted for questioning.

Please visit http://eva.unvirtual.com/ for more details.

If you have any information regarding the identity of the perpetrator, the location of the EVA Core, or the whereabouts of Dr. Muromachi, we ask for your immediate assistance.

Please contact URI or visit the EVA Project site for more information.

<Zenkle|OffDooty> Shak once told me the best way for them was to write to the candidates address

<Zenkle|OffDooty> and it sends back some automated I dunno but I guess it esplains everything

<blaqueice> i just did that

<blaqueice> and i filled out their form thing

<Zenkle|OffDooty> Yeah I think it takes awhile for them to go through the process

<Zenkle|OffDooty> there's like some folding

<Zenkle|OffDooty> and

<Zenkle|OffDooty> stamping

<Zenkle|OffDooty> mb writing

* Zenkle|OffDooty shrugs

<Zenkle|OffDooty> they probably stamp it more than once Smile

<blaqueice> haha

<blaqueice> i see

------------------------------------------------------------------

Zenkle|OffDooty> that's why I decided I was just gonna be Art Zenkle Site Admin and keep myself to myself as it were Smile

<Zenkle|OffDooty> I've heard alot of crazy stuff though

<blaqueice> like what

<Zenkle|OffDooty> stuff about - kites?

<blaqueice> yeah

<Zenkle|OffDooty> and talking things

<blaqueice> i heard that too

<Zenkle|OffDooty> and a girl ... stuff like that

<blaqueice> yeah

<Zenkle|OffDooty> sometimes I think mb it's just a big college prank Smile

------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Zenkle|OffDooty> I heard there is another EVA channel too

<blaqueice> do you know what it is?

<Zenkle|OffDooty> I thought mb it was for a girl or something

Zenkle|OffDooty> neways Shak told me

<Zenkle|OffDooty> I'm not to go in there

* Zenkle|OffDooty shrugs

<Zenkle|OffDooty> I like having a job, man heh

<blaqueice> haha

<Zenkle|OffDooty> Smile

Zenkle|OffDooty> yeah that's the one, #eva

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

<Zenkle|OffDooty> There was someone here earlier

<Zenkle|OffDooty> with a guest like name

<Zenkle|OffDooty> they were really upset, all caps and stuff

<blaqueice> haha

<Zenkle|OffDooty> talkinga bout something they heard on the portal

<Zenkle|OffDooty> I dunno I looked around I didn't find anything that distressing

<Zenkle|OffDooty> nothing to hear, either

<blaqueice> did that guy say anything notable or was it all just rant

<Zenkle|OffDooty> something about mp3s

<Zenkle|OffDooty> and tacos

<Zenkle|OffDooty> mmmm tacos

<Zenkle|OffDooty> said something about the logout

<blaqueice> tacops?

<Zenkle|OffDooty> i tested the logout though it works fine

<Zenkle|OffDooty> whoa

<Zenkle|OffDooty> whoa whoa whoaaaaaoooo hold on there

<Zenkle|OffDooty> you wanna be careful heh with that kinda talk Smile

<Zenkle|OffDooty> well this guy was talking about tacos.

<Zenkle|OffDooty> neways let's not talk about em they do what they do and I do what I do Smile

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

to check on him.

<blaqueice> you gonna go look though?

<Zenkle|OffDooty> WHOA

<Zenkle|OffDooty> dude

<Zenkle|OffDooty> i just came back

<Zenkle|OffDooty> i knocked, no answer

<Zenkle|OffDooty> so i knocked again

<Zenkle|OffDooty> no answer

<Zenkle|OffDooty> so i tried the handle

<Zenkle|OffDooty> and it was unlocked

<blaqueice> did you go in?

<Zenkle|OffDooty> dude it was totally empty

<Zenkle|OffDooty> totally

<Zenkle|OffDooty> he's gone man

<blaqueice> no furnitire?

<Zenkle|OffDooty> doc's gone Sad

<Zenkle|OffDooty> man

<Zenkle|OffDooty> i'm gonna get a beer

*** Zenkle|OffDooty is now known as Zenkle|afk

this whole thing is kind of confusing as i try to catch up on what has happened...but i did find this IG site and it has helped me understand alot. http://myinquiry.blogspot.com/ it belongs to a girl names Josia, who Zenkle mentioned to me a few times.....this looks like such a great game...also i suggest signing up for the "EVA Project" on their site...apparently thats the best way to get information about them and whats happening, i signed up, but it takes a while for the process. there is alot to look at in the mean time though.
