Alright, maybe I was a little hasty on suggesting the switchover to the Perplex City forums for the puzzle card threads. I was really hoping to cut down on the number of forums I would have to check for puzzle solves, but I think the newb-magnet that is perplexcityforums.com has solved that for me. There's no way anything of use is going to be posted over there, at least not for a while. I'd like to change my vote to nay and then give myself a time out for speaking before thinking.

While I'm sitting in my corner, if anyone would like to beat me with a stick, I'll understand completely.

Laughing I was the other guy who posted yea, but now want to change my decision having seen the useless posts on the pscforums, its going to be filled with so much junk it will be unbelievable if the cards are selling as well as we think they are.

However, I think there will be a problem at some time because both forums are for solving the puzzle cards. It will therefore be annoying having to check back and forth for new ideas on solutions and then deciding where to post your ideas...

now now lets not nay it to death. Whilst it will be unlikely that all solves will be moved to the new forums, they can still become a useful place to new people to get aquainted or for a wider perspective on the puzzles- as im assuming their forum will get more hits than uf, from new people checking in.

so with this in mind, it would be good to post the hardcore solves here, but still discuss stuff over there, imho..

two forums

Using two forums is a bit tricky. But, now that we agree not to move en masse to the PPC forums, I do think that they will both work. Enough people --like me--are totally compulsive and will check-in with both places and report back here if necessary.

The way we have done this in other games is to post a link here to the post on the otherforum crediting the person who originally posted.

The most important idea I've learned from these games is that more players = more ideas, more viewpoints and more solutions. So anything that supports that goal is a going to be very useful in the long run.

I know we like to think that most players have heard of unfiction, can find this site easily and feel welcome to post here. But that isn't always the case. So if the PPC forums are easier to find, or easier to use, or less intimidating to new players that will be good for everyone involved.

I've just got settled here, so glad we're not up and moving! I did register at the new forums just for the sake of it though. As a pretty new player, I probably would have gone there first to start posting - however, since I found out about this place beforehand through playing the Alias ARG, and had every intent of joining the PC community here once I got caught up with the game, that point is moot. Besides, you guys are all nice, welcoming peeps, and there seems to be a distinct lack of annoying posters. Plus most people here are obviously in for the long haul.

I've seen ARGs where the "official" forums became the serious source for solves, and the unfiction forum was kind of a side forum, like last year's Steinitz ARG. There are others where the official forum is a freaky newbie place (like the forums for the treasure hunt book "A Treasure's Trove") so serious people go elsewhere.

There is already so much serious and useful information in these unfiction PPC forums that there's no way the perplexcityforums will take over.

I hope we can rely on some of our more compulsive members to update us if something interesting gets posted over there.

This seemed to be the manner in which "Art of the Heist" played out with Stolen A3 being the "official" in-game site. While a bit confusing at times (especially when solves were coming fast and furious), it seemed to work well.

I just popped over to the PXC Forums to see how things were panning out and all I have to say is ...

There is NO WAY I am leaving here to post over there!

Those forums make me feel like Billy Madison in Kindergarten. I think I'd much prefer to stay here with all of you intelligent, eloquent and insightful folk.

Thank you.

It would be nice to have everything in one place. I feel PC were a little too late in getting their forums up and running... just like in releasing cards, leaderboards etc. etc.

It does seem completely pointless having 2 places to discuss cards. There are lots of cards which have now been solved and the the messages on the PC boards just make random comments like "nice and easy" instead of the answers. Or people asking for help and just getting smug replies from people who have probably just got the answer from unfiction.

I'm just going to use the one which is being used the most. I'm certainly not going to spend all my time dashing between the two.

The last couple of posters might want to consider how some of us - who started over there in PCF but have since learned about this site - might in fact have something to offer in both forums.

Or was the bit about 'friendly and welcoming' a mite premature? I think not. Wink I'll readily admit that this site is far better-developed, and the posters here fairly well-entrenched in the depths of the puzzles... and that the other forums are largely populated by people who found them from buying the cards.

But kindergarten? Well, now...!

Bronnko,

I'll just point out that you're responding to comments made weeks ago, before the perplexcityforums.com site had many members or many posts. In fact, I'll guess those comments were made here before you even joined over there. Wink

In any case, I'm glad to see that the dialogue over there has improved a lot in the last few weeks.

But anyway, welcome aboard!

Thanks! I'm glad to be here. Smile And I'll quickly add that the caliber of poster here (not necessarily including myself) seems well above most forums with which I've been associated. Heh, this would be true if only because of Trout (nice concept indeed) vs. Flames.
