What the Bleep do we Know?!

WHAT THE BLEEP DO WE KNOW?! is a new type of film. It is part documentary, part story, and part elaborate and inspiring visual effects and animations. The protagonist, Amanda, played by Marlee Matlin, finds herself in a fantastic Alice in Wonderland experience when her daily, uninspired life literally begins to unravel, revealing the uncertain world of the quantum field hidden behind what we consider to be our normal, waking reality.

ARG film anyone?

Also, if you are a cynic, a propaganda film for the Ramtha cult based out of Washington, the ones who produced the film.

But I still liked it. I got to watch it in the theater that was in several sceens, because the whole film takes place in Portland! yay!

Well, you kids basically covered all the movies, but one book I have to add to the list is John Fowles The Magus. I'm actually only half way through it, but it's got the ARG-sans-computers-and-technology feel about it. Bascially, a bazillionaire who might be a little unstable creates his own sort of fantasy world and forces the main character to play along. Woo. A little confusing at times, but I definatly recommend it.

I'd also just like to comment on the lovely Mulholland Drive. David Lynch is one of my favorite directors, and I love how he uses surrealism and strange characters/plotlines in his films. (Everyone who has seen Twin Peaks always remembers the Red Room and the midget talking backwards. I kid you not. Shocked ) The film was absolutely beautiful to look at, but I'm still lost as to what exactly happened. One of my few talents is being able to understand complicated movies, but this one just lost me. Even after reading that handy guide that someone posted, I'm still a little iffy as to the plotline. Point is, crazy as he is, Lynch can make one good looking piece of film.

How many people are on Netflix? My email address there is meSPLATaddlepated.net. Please feel free to add me to your friends lists. Might be fun to have an ARG circle on Netflix.

Would the "Cube" movie series and "The Nemesis Game" count as ARG-themed films?

If you are after another alternate reality book try Otherland by Tad Williams it is a 4 book series and is quite a good one

Its about a rich guy who builds an virtual reality world and how it is sustained

Dont know if its ARG-ish but still a good read

I would like to add that I got to watch this show today and thought I would post this website that was at the end of this movie. (yes to me some of it felt cultish) I do believe that we do affect, effect, infect our world with our thoughts.
Watch what ya say!!!
oh, apparently there is a new movie coming to answer some of the questions that were asked in the first one.

love to all!

The Player of Games
Iain M Banks

That book has some real ARG elements in it... good read too.

Following synopsis lifted from Amazon:
Quote:
Synopsis
The Culture - a human/machine symbiotic society - has thrown up many great Game Players, and one of the greatest is Gurgeh. Jernau Morat Gurgeh. The Player of Games. Master of every board, computer and strategy. Bored with success, Gurgeh travels to the Empire of Azad, cruel and incredibly wealthy, to try their fabulous game...a game so complex, so like life itself, that the winner becomes emperor. Mocked, blackmailed, almost murdered, Gurgeh accepts the game, and with it the challenge of his life - and very possibly his death.
