New Treasure Hunt - A Treasure's Trove Saw this on the Today show this morning - this guy, inspired many years ago by the real-world treasure hunt in Masquerade has written a treasure hunt book.
Find 12 tokens hidden around the US that will get you one of 12 gemstone insects as prizes (ranging in value from a few thousand dollars to one worth $450,000). Let the hunt begin!!!!

Too bad I'm a bit too far from the US to participate. Looks very interesting. Good luck to all of ya.

Cool...
Looks like it will follow the same pattern as the David blaine book... does anyone know a discussion forum for this? or is there one on here I might have missed? I'd have loved to read about the above book whilst it was in full swing - this could be another chance
Anyone?

Too bad every new treasure hunt requires that you buy a book.
But at least I can still do the puzzles here for fun.

Smile, this is the only thread here in the unforums. Feel free to start the chat here; if it develops a following, a game thread can be established.
Threads may be going up in other forums as well.
Now to be cynical I will observe that because the prizes are hefty (not just a game experience or a Tshirt or that game that gave away Aspen cologne and backpacks), I would imagine there will be less sharing about puzzle solutions by most of these treasure hunters. So those of you who want to share in the spirit of this community will find others who just lurk to grab your work product and run. So play carefully! Team only with people you trust, if at all. Note that the woman who won the David Blaine hunt did it all on her onlies.

I'm still finding it hard to believe that this is legit.

You can find an energetic group already started at Quest4Treasure .
They tackled the David Blaine Mysterious Stranger book there too, as well as an older puzzle book with 12 treasures buried in the USA more than 20 years ago, called The Secret.

Aliendial,
I was thinking about posting something about this but I wanted to check with my unfiction friends first. Anybody interested in teaming up on these puzzles to find them, auction them off and either donate the money to charity or split with each other? If so PM me!

I'd love to work on this here at UF. As for sharing I guess that could be left up to the person or persons who find one. I live in Oregon and I won't be traveling around the country looking for tokens. If someone discovers that there is a token hidden on the other side of the country, perhaps they could share with the retriever. I'm willing to travel to spots in Oregon and Western Washington. As for information I discover in the book, I will post here for all to use.
I hope all that made sense.

I ordered the kit from "A Treasure's Trove" website, but their delivery date is 4-6 weeks. Rather than waiting I purchased a book yesterday a B&N. I read the book last night (cute story) and have just started looking for things. Here are a few I've found so far:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Most of these are found in the borders of the pictures. Some are easier to see than others.
Page 16....Below sky and above earth be
Page 31....Nothing to be disturbed thru the lands
Page 33....Each is outside for you to find
Page 41....An even code with on(e) piece nary ( I'm not sure if it is an e)
Page 46....Will spell out the sanctuary
Page 62....The treasures abide reveals the name (also included on this page are other letters that don't spell out words, but seemed to be grouped....m(or)wiere, kpcy, ugfxj, oz(or)n
I'm not sure yet the word order for some of the lines or if the line order is important.
Will post as I find more.

Between you and me we could cover the north west. I'm in Missoula, MT so I can hit MT, Idaho, Eastern Washington, Wyoming and UTah.
Post if you want here and I'll do the same. The link catherwood posted has the same information you posted with more of the complete poem plus other puzzle info. I suggest checking it out. I'm actually still waiting for my kit as well so I may grab a copy from a book store myself so as not to get too far behind.

My impression from a quick look at the book blurbs was that the author distributed the tokens around the US so that there would be at least one within relatively easy distance for everybody. Does that include HI an AK? Dunno.

im in manchester, England - so i'd really just want to take part, and if we could make some money as you said - I'd be all for donating to charity, of course, I imagine its not that easy! - I'll buy the book at least, don't suppose you could recommend any decent resellers that ship abroad?

From reading the rules, it looks like the tokens are only hidden in the continental US, but the contest is open to all residents of the 50 states, except CT, MD, ND, and VT.
