After a flood of requests (well, OK, five) I am calling up from the stacks of the Academy library a book that a few of you asked for: "The Third Power, the Archers and the City of Dawn: An investigation into the Power of the Perplex City Cube and those who have guarded it". Don't know why you wanted it - from the digest it just looks like the usual mumbo-jumbo cubehead rubbish about how the Cube is at the centre of an huge conspiracy stretching back for millennia, or was the reason for the foundation of Perplex City, or, I don't know, is the source of all cheese in the universe. This book looks like basically a catalogue of every instance of anything cube-shaped that's ever been used by any known religion. Including stones used to build walls. Anyway, it's not kept on site, and hasn't been deemed worthy to be electronically stored (it's about 60 years old) but if you have anything in particular you'd like me to look for when it arrives, I'll put some extracts up here.


So what DO we want her to look for?

 		Well, I for one would like to know if the 3 symbol we've been seeing is the symbol of the Third Power.

Also, if the Third Power is somehow tied to the Reconstructionists, and which of the various organizations have had the Cube in their possession.

And lastly, if there are any recorded instances of the Cube having strange or unusal properties (voices coming from it, beams of light emanating from it and killing anyone in their path, all that sort of stuff).

Mianly the last one, because I'd like to find out if it might be analogous to what some people claim the Ark of the Covenant was: an uber-powerful transciever of some kind, with an extremely dangerous powers source . . .

Violet, just make sure you don't scan any images at resolutions higher than 60 DPI Very Happy

Even though it's spec at this point - and this comment is meant as more of the same - I'd say that the Reconstructionists are the good guys here. They're into spirituality and anti-materialism, and contrary to the semi-scientology characteristics we keep seeing in Perplex City notices about them, the only ones who have so far tried to exercise any power over people of "different" faith, have been Perplex City residents who have fired and badmouthed Recons. (And with THEIR website skills, I find it hard to believe they are an evil brainwashing cult.)

IMO, the Third Power are ultra-evils, but they are NOT Recons. They are most likely high profile Perplexians, say, academics?
