Possibly some new information. The countdown skips seconds every minute.

I tried to establish some sort of pattern but it seems to just randomly skip 2 seconds every minute.
(this is a copy from my post at the IGN forum)
Ok some quick math. If we assume its dropping 2 seconds every minutei figured that from the time the countdown hits exactly 29days, there will actually only be 23.2 days remaining on the countdown. I cant make out how much is left until we reach 29 days since its obscured by the tree. This roughly works out to 23 days and 5 hours from when the clock strikes '29 days left'. I think this puts us somewhere around the 21st instead of the 27th. Interesting...

This is along the lines of 'nature does not follow your rules-the answer is right in front of you' hints...

IS anyone else seeing these seconds drop off? Some say they are and some arent, it may just be a problem with syncing the site to your local clock...

I am not seeing that, but I do notice it when I reload the page.

Are you using an auto reloader? That is what could be causing that to happen.

Topic: Halo 3 Sequel?

Post: JollyRigger:

Well I'm surpirsed to see someone post about Halo 3 for launch day. So I retrieved a response from a Bungie producer who wishes to remain anonymous.

Anonymous Bungie Official Statement:

"We have not announced our new project at this time. We're working on a new IP. If we did start development on Halo 3 right after Halo 2 development time the game simply wouldn't be ready for launch day of the Xbox 360. Halo 3 would be 1 to 2 years off for release. We will reveal our new project via a press conference when the rabbit comes out of the hat. Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available."

I would rather be jailed than give up the producers name.

I believe this number skipping theory to be somewhat of a red herring along with looking into the theologian Origen and also THX's blog. I don't believe he's giving clues but rather was just posting an excerpt from a 18th century buddhist writing titled Heaven and Earth. It does tie in with the whole eastern theme that many are riding on with the Origen site but I believe it to be wholly OOG

One thing that just occurred to me. There was that xbox360news forum where hints were dropped that it had something to do with something announced for Japan, but not for the US or Europe. Japan is all in one time zone. The fact that the countdown doesn't account for different time zones may lend some credence to the possibility that it's Japan-only, as everyone in Japan is going to see that clock count down to the same time.

Just a thought.

being that microsoft is behind this, and they are TERRIBLE at keeping secrets as of late, i strongly agree that this origen hooplah must be about the "surprise" announcement for japan. however, i vote for a lock for a few days or so, because insane thoughts in the mind of the inteligent can a waiting game create. i think we've kinda over-philosophied this site. idk, i just think we've gone a lil over board, then again, going overboard has helped us in the past *thinks of day THX found the secret email address* ...idk, whadduyahthink?

Again I doubt this is something that is Japan specific. My reasoning for this is that most folks over there know nothing about 360 and secondly most folks do not use the net nearly as extensively as us in North America or their neighbours to the west, Korea. If it was they would be using some other medium to advertise this coming announcement.

I dont personally udnerstand the idea of 'locking' down threads. Let those of us who want to speculate, speculate. The rest of you all can join in whenever you like. This kind of thing must be peculiar to this forum because ive never heard of doing such a thing before.

This is an ARG forum, not an XBox forum -- despite the fact that for many of us those interests overlap -- and in the interest of keeping the signal to noise ratio as high as possible, the moderators or admins often lock a thread that no longer has any purpose here to keep the forums on-topic.

Sometimes they move it, instead. Appropriate locations might include the Console/Video Game Discussion forum, the Timewasters forum (the section for discussion of non-ARG gaming) or the Various & Sundry forum, for off-topic discussions.

Moderators and admins also lock inappropriate threads, such as spam or threads in which the participants can't make themselves play nicely. Wink

If they didn't do this, the noise would soon overwhelm the signal, and the forums would be unorganized and chaotic.

The alternate reality gaming genre is confusing enough for newbies without tons of off-topic discussion in the wrong forums. This is a forum about News & Rumors regarding potential ARGs. If we have determined that this Origen thingie is not an ARG, and is unlikely to become one, it no longer belongs in this particular forum. If the admins decide that there is virtue in allowing the discussion to continue somewhere on Unfiction, they will most likely move it. If not, they'll lock it.

If they do so, it won't be a commentary on the worth of the discussion, just on its appropriateness for this particular forum. But I rather suspect they'll move it to Console Gaming. Smile

it's been said that one out of every 4 homes in japan has broadband....i think they do use the net as much, if not more....no disrespect, i just wanted to clarify...

and about "locking", i just think there should be like a pause (lol) or something...i just want us to be focused, not desperate.....idk, i may have gone a little overboard, i just don't want us to go craaaazy bent out of shape when this is a pretty clear cut add that isn't even confirmed to be a game...not tryin to be a prick...

PS. Nicely put Phaedra

Gotcha and your description does make a lot of sense. I'm getting the sense theres enough here to continue discussions but my n00b-ness in ARGs leaves me with not much of a barometer to judge.

Hopefully the pace will pick up on this soon and there will be plenty to discuss and uncover.

I don't know -- generally, if it's an ARG, PMs find some way to signal that it is one. All that really seems to be here is a countdown. Dunno
