Hmmm... Strange emails... criptic pictures.... countdown timer.... If this ends up just being a marketing site for the 360 and not an arg or anything of the sorts, I'm going to be very put out.

Odd, I got nothing of the sort, and I opted in a long time ago. You don't think it's a UK thing, do you?
I'm not sure, but the fact the prices and stuff are in pounds could lead to indicate that. Eitherway, I've got Origen set as my home page now for the next few days to wait and see.

Not sure if this is the real deal.
Taken from http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/9347/What-is-Origen/
Origen. Xbox promises a gamers paradise. What is paradise for gamers? We think we know. What do you think?
The internet is already buzzing with rumours. Is Origen the announcement of Halo 3? Is it an Xbox 360 shop on Times Square, is it the announcement on an Unreal Engine 3-powered Fable sequel.......?
Origen is? The debut of next generation gaming. A real place dedicated to gaming pleasures. A place to play Xbox 360 before anyone else. A place to play all the Xbox 360 launch titles. A place to take on other gamers.
How do you get to Origen? Over 600,000 gamers have already tried to find out. They find a page at www.origenxbox360.com, but paradise is not there yet. The gates of Origen open soon. The European race for entry into Origen starts on 27 September 2005.

For those who haven't seen it...Microsoft has a press release out about Origen:
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/press_release.php?aid=11778
There are several articles about the press release that can be found by googling for "xbox 360".
EDIT: Sorry, I posted this at the same time someone else did.

boo! By the sounds of the recent press release (see the "What is Origien?" above), it sounds like this may just be some kind of xbox360 marketing site, showcasing games or something or just helping to build hype for X05 in Amsterdam. If that's the case, then I'm a bit (way more than a bit actually) bummed...oh well...

Does anyone have a link to the actual MS Press Relase?
Why would MS issue a press release for a site that has a count down timer that will end tomorrow? Doesn't that seem anticlimactic?
Even though this is all over the net, I would treat this as spec until someone can present the offical MS press release.

the MS press releases didn't say anything at all, it was just MS's way of getting the news out [to the general public] of origenxbox360.com.
maybe the game begins in 1 day...

I don't have an account here, but the press release is available through Games Press:

When MS makes a press release all sites that are posting the news have a link to the MS press release as it proves that the information is factual. (unless of course the site forgets to include a link to the offical press release). I doubt that every site forgot to post the press release in this instance. Therefore I'm hesitant to believe any of these news sites.
All these sites are saying this is a press release but MS has nothing posted.
A search of MS's press release site for origenxbox360 retreives nothing at all at this time.

Not that it matters, but I've copy-pasted the original press release from gamespress.com.

What is Origen?
London, 26 September 2005
The forthcoming launch of the next-generation-defining console, the Xbox 360, is the most hotly anticipated launch this year.
Origen. Xbox promises a gamers paradise. What is paradise for gamers? We think we know. What do you think?

I think I know what it's about...based on the press release, they're going to (somehow) invite a number of "European" gamers to the X05 event October 4th and 5th, which happens to be next week.
If this turns out to be the case, I will sincerely regret all the time I spent thinking about this at all.

If this is in fact nothing more than a way for people to get free tickets to the X05 event in Amsterdam I will be highly disappointed.
Especially since I can't attend.

Again, we see the value of hiring professionals.

Well to be fair no one ever officially said this was, well... anything at all really. It was us who got hyped that this may be a continuation of OurColony or some such. No one ever promised any kind of result from all of this so we can't go around getting pissed off that it didn't turn out the way we wanted. However that being said I will be disappointed if there really isn't much info or stuff to do 20 minutes from now.
