thumbs.db is a file that windows generates to display thumbnail pictures in the explorer window. I think some folks tried taking that file apart to make sure nothing was hidden, and I believe nothing was found. I have a feeling the pm's just zipped up the folder with the pics and thumbs.db got included. (I think it's usually a hidden file.)

The file, as far as I know is still available at www.pemesent.com/download/

updates... I'm almost certain it's not a substitution cipher. I thought maybe that with the "keys" photo appearing next to the Osmoor estates text that the text or the title might be the key to a vigenere cipher, but on trying both, no dice so far. (
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I also tried "ducky" which appears when you edit any of the 3 'clue' jpegs.
)

Ok, I tried sifting the cipher in to 6 groups of 3 and 1 group of 2, thinking that's what the clue is suggesting. I get this:

SYT XTU WFH FXK JNG APR FR

Any thoughts on this? Not sure if this is what's intended, but it does fit the pattern.

I'm now trying to use the dashes=3/2 as a guide to shifting the cipher letters, i.e. shift 6 characters by 3 places, then 1 character by 2. I'll let you know if it produces anything.

Ciphers utterly confuse me in many ways and I'm tired and drunk from days of birthday celebrations, so I'll sit and observe for now and try to figure it out.

hello out there... hello?

UGH!!! this is driving me nuts...
okay, so after attempting every cipher
thingee i can find on the net, i've decided
to approach from another angle..

this phrase is located under this green
pic that seems to be saying "blind"
or "blinded" (and we know that pemesent
has 1000 dogs for the blind)
so i'm thinking the last word in the phrase
"NGAPRFR" could be "blinded"...

and what about that metro map?

how bout this so far:

syt TtuwE WE TRY BLINDED

still hacking at it. Dunno. I also feel the brackets are part of it

Working on different groupings. Does this mean anything to anybody?

SFG YHA TFP TKR UJF WNR
XX

That's distributing the letters into six groups, with the paired group in the middle. IF you distribute this way, the X's automatically fall together in the 2 slot grouping (Think {-}=2) which then also matches the two X's in a circle in a diagram.

It leaves us with 6 groups of 3 characters (Think {-}{-}[-}{-}{-}{-}=3)

I think it's interesting, but I don't get any meaning from it.

Still cant get anything on the piano pic or the cipher though.

Ok, I don't know if we've just missed this for awhile, or if there was an update of sorts. I discovered a second hidden layer on the www.pemesent.com/cityinfo.php page. If you click on the fact of the day (second line I think) another jpeg pops up.

Personally, I'm still clueless.

http://www.jee-haw.nl/pict/zzzz.jpg is the location of the picture by the way.

Maybe the typewriter pic and this jpg emphasise the number 4.
But that doesn't help much.
I'm clutching at straws here.

Wow, good find, Automaton. I don't read Dutch, so I emailed the website to find out what this ZZZZ monument is, in case it's important. I also Babelfished the site text, and it seems to be some kind of sepulchral sculpture monument in Stainless Steel. Hopefully a response will be more helpful. I don't know if its important to the game or not.

Oh, and I thought I'd mention that I did email the web_teamSPLATpemesent.org and haven't gotten any response.

maybe the picture is a rebus?
4z's .. forces?

seems a stretch. As usual.

Maybe the face in the green picture is just sleeping and not dead or blinded. My brain is filing divorce papers with me.

Just a thought...

Hi everybody, I'm new, Embarassed and I may not have the seasoned skills most of you veterans have acquired in your journey, but I have been following pemesent/zoe with you guys, and have a few thoughts to add to the pool, and I may be waaay off with this one, but:

The pemesent.com contact page has this picture with a black line tracing what I would assume to be a route of some kind, and in examining the metro routes pic, I found something similar between the two. At an intersection of C-One and C-Two (Between Forge Cross and Zurl Ave.), the grey block that I assume to be the area that is under maintenance also correlates with the shape of the black line traced out in the pic on the contact page. I've attached the pic from the contact page, and a pic where I put the traced line layered over the area in the metro pic. It deviates a little over, but if we think in terms of the metro line traveling in a straight line, and the traced line following a street/road maybe, it makes sense. You guys have probably ruled this one out, but I thought it was interesting enough for spec. (Also, to add, when I traced the line I did not resize the pics so that they would fit each another.

Also, the snake puzzle makes me think of a train or the like, and it is positioned in a similar shape to the metro line as well. Maybe the path/lightning bolt-looking cipher fits this as well, matching up somewhere on the metro line. (Highly unlikely, but a thought at least).

Any thoughts?

Hi Withe,

welcome to Zoe! That's actually an interesting thought. I know that we had decided that the line on the map on the contact page was the division of a postal zone in London (it shows up in several maps I believe) but we had long dismissed the line. Your overlay does show a high resemblance though. It might be something worth thinking about. I also hadn't thought of the snake puzzle in these terms yet.

Definitely something to ponder over...

Maybe that overlay would helps us corelate the travel metro map with real world London tube stations...

**UPDATE**
I had sent a message to helpSPLATpemesent.com asking how to use the VTXT service to find out about metro updates. I got a response, but I think the response basically says DEAD END. Here it is:

Thank you for contacting the Pemesent.com Web Team.

The VTXT service works using any compatible mobile phone, if your phone isn't
set
up its best to contact your service provider. Pemesent.com always shows the most
up to date information.

Regards

Colin.

--
I'm interested in using the VTXT service to contact the Metro-Line for
further updates on station maintenance and closures. Do you have the
information on how to contact them?

Thanks.

The http://www.pemesent.com/travel.php has changed again. Now it says

Quote:
Sorry this
page has moved

to here

Pemesent.com is only avaible to view by residents
of the city.

There is also a flash in the "Sorry this.." part. It says

Quote:

Remember
Remember
A map?
A map?

Not anymore

The "To here" link goes to http://www.pemesent.com/travelpage.htm

There's a flash there aswell.

You see an eye, then the map, then the eye again, it all goes red and this text appears

Quote:
I was born free

[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] = _ _ _ _ _ _

KeycodebotSPLATpemesent.com

Then the eye opens, and it fades to black, and an "O" (the one on the box) appears. And then we see the map again.

This is shown on top of the page

Quote:
- - - - - ###?## - - - - - EYE CAN - - - - -

And on the side you see

Quote:
I

Can

Hold

The Whole

World

in my hands

The link goes here http://www.respondtothecall.org/hymn_whole_world_in_his_hands.htm.

The fact of the day is this

Wow, great eye to see all of that LadyLovelyLocks. I think we're getting nudged mercilessly by the PMs to solve this thing. My getting the email message from the metro people was probably a nudge to recheck that page. So maybe the big O on side 1 is an EYE, seems to be pointing that way.

Right. I thought of that too. Smile So the first words are "I can", then?

(I Can Hold The Whole World in my hands? Laughing )

I was thinking along those lines, but I can't resolve a bunch of crosses and one dash to mean "can." Plus the marquee says ###?## ---- EYE CAN.... would that suggest something about the 4th character? I hate being at work at the moment, can't devote the brain power to the puzzle yet :p
